Fan/Motor System™

The field-proven efficiency and reliability of GE ECM
Technology™, manufactured by Morrill Motors, now
makes it possible to bring increased energy savings to
commercial refrigeration air-moving applications with the
patented 58 Series fan/motor system. Display case
manufacturers utilize GE's ECM Technology™ to deliver
energy efficiency and enhanced system performance in
supermarkets and convenience stores.

Ultra-High Efficiency

Conventional shaded-pole fan systems are 5 to 7%
efficient at full load. In contrast, the Morrill 58 Series ECM
Fan/Motor System™ has been designed with a forward­curved air foil with smaller fan-tip clearance that provides
world-class fan/motor system efficiency of 20 to 25%. The
Morrill 58 Series ECM's permanent-magnet, DC design
allows it to maintain 68 to 72% motor efficiency over a
wide torque range. This result is more air for lower
operating cost.

58 Series Applications

Three models are available: low speed, 1340 RPM for
produce, 1470 RPM for medium temp, and 1650 RPM for
low temp applications.

Contractor Testimonial:

"I retrofitted three 12-foot and two 8-foot cases with these
new ECM motors and when I put my meter on them, I
discovered that the power consumption was roughly a
third of shaded-pole motors. Then I measured the sound
level. With the old shaded-poles I got 85 dBa, but with the
ECM, the sound wouldn't register. The only thing I could
pick up was the ambient noise in the store, which was 72
dBa. In fact, the manager even complained about them
