1 INTRODUCTION

Congratulations on your purchase of the Marmitek Split 422! This active HDMI splitter
connects HD screens (e.g. HDTV and HD projector) with one HDMI source
(Blu-ray Player, HD set-top box, PlayStation3, Xbox 360, etc.). In contrast to passive
HDMI splitters, this is done without any signal or encryption loss and while retaining
optimum image quality. It is also ideal for use in combination with an HDMI extender
(e.g. to another room). The Split 422 supports Full HD 1080p and 3D
(so is suitable for use with your own 3D equipment).
Marmitek products are manufactured with great care and are of the highest quality.

4 INSTALLATION

1. Connect the HDMI sources to the ‘input’ on the Split422 via HDMI cables.

2. Connect the HDMI screens (HDTV or HD projector) to the Split 422’s ‘output’ via
HDMI cables.

3. Connect the power adapter to the Split 422 and plug into the socket.

Tip for installation:

Only use High Speed HDMI® certified cables for the best picture and sound quality.
Do not use much force to connect or disconnect the HDMI cables otherwise they may
become damaged.

5 USE

The maximum resolution that can be used is entirely dependent on the HDMI source
and the connected HDMI screens. The resolution of the HDMI source must be set so
that both HDMI screens support it. Check the instructions for the connected HDMI
equipment to verify the maximum supported resolution and how this can be set. Once
all equipment is connected and set in the correct way, switch everything off and then
on again. Select the correct HDMI input on your HDMI screen and you should then see
the same signal on each screen, with the same resolution. The ‘Select’ button on the
front of the Split422 can be used to manually switch between the two HDMI sources.
Both HDMI screens will switch to the same HDMI source.

Tip for usage:

Ensure that the HDMI source and screens fully support the HDCP protocol in order to
prevent any problems.

6 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

No (or bad) image and sound

If you see a bad image or no image at all after connecting the HDMI splitter, try to
establish what the problem is by connecting your devices, one by one, to your screen
(TV, monitor or projector). This will allow you to establish whether the problem lies in
the HDMI sources, the HDMI cables, the HDMI splitter or the screen. HDMI equipment
that has not been tested and certified by ATC (Authorized Test Centers) may cause
image and sound problems.

• Check whether the Split 422’s power adapter is connected and plugged in;

• Only use High Speed HDMI® certified cables for the best picture and sound
quality;

• Do not use HDMI cables that are longer than specified in the technical data;

• Check whether the HDMI cables and/or connectors are damaged;

• Both the HDMI source as well as your screen must fully support HDMI;

• Check whether your HDMI sources and screen support HDCP (High-bandwidth
Digital Content Protection).

No proper 3D picture

• Check whether the HDMI source has been set to 3D and/or that this is set to
automatic.

•

Both the HDMI source as well as the HD screen must support the same 3D formats.

• Check whether the proper 3D picture is reproduced by directly connecting the
HDMI source to the screen with an HDMI cable.

1 EINFÜHRUNG

Herzlichen Glückwunsch mit dem Erwerb des Marmitek Split 422.! Dieser aktive HDMI
Splitter verbindet HD Schirme (z.B. HDTV und HD Projektor) mit einer HDMI Quelle
(Blu-Ray Player, HD Settop Box, PlayStation3, Xbox 360 usw.). Im Gegensatz zu
passiven HDMI Splittern geschieht dies ohne jeglichen Signal- oder
Verschlüsselungsverlust und unter Beibehaltung optimaler Bildqualität. Auch ideal für
die Verwendung mit einer HDMI Verlängerung (z.B. in einen anderen Raum). Der Split
422 unterstützt Full HD 1080p und 3D (ist also für Verwendung mit Ihren eigenen 3D
Geräten geeignet).
Die Produkte Marmiteks werden mit großer Sorgfalt hergestellt und sind von hoher
Qualität. Lesen Sie diese Anleitung bitte sorgfältig durch und befolgen Sie die

4 INSTALLATION

1. Schließen Sie die HDMI Quelle mit HDMI Kabeln an den “Input” des Split422 an.

2. Schließen Sie die HDMI Schirme (HDTV oder HD Projektor) über HDMI Kabel an
den “Output” des Split 422 an.

3. Schließen Sie den Speisungsadapter an den Split 422 an und verbinden Sie diesen
mit der Steckdose.

Tipps zur Installation:

Verwenden Sie zum Erhalt einer optimalen Bild- und Tonqualität ausschließlich High
Speed HDMI® zertifizierte Kabel. Verwenden Sie wenig Kraft, um die HDMI Kabel
anzuschließen oder loszukoppeln; diese könnten sonst Schäden erleiden.

5 ANWENDUNG

Wie hoch die maximale Auflösung ist, hängt vollkommen von der HDMI Quelle und den
angeschlossenen HDMI Schirmen ab. Die Auflösung der HDMI Quelle muss so eingestellt
werden, dass beide HDMI Schirme diese Auflösung unterstützen. Schauen Sie in der
Gebrauchsanleitung der angeschlossenen HDMI Apparatur, welche Auflösung maximal
unterstützt wird und wie diese eingestellt werden kann. Schalten Sie, wenn alles richtig
angeschlossen und eingestellt ist, sämtliche Apparatur aus und wieder an. Wählen Sie
den richtigen HDMI Eingang auf Ihrem HDMI Schirm und Sie werden auf beiden
Schirmen das gleiche Signal mit der gleichen Auflösung sehen. Mit der Select Taste an
der Vorderseite des Split422 kann manuell zwischen den 2 HDMI Quellen geschaltet
werden. Beide HDMI Schirme werden auf dieselbe HDMI Quelle umschalten.

Tipps zur Verwendung:

Um Problemen vorzubeugen achten Sie bitte darauf, dass die HDMI Quelle und
Schirme das HDCP Protokoll vollständig unterstützen.

6 HÄUFIG GESTELLTE FRAGEN

Kein (oder schlechtes) Bild und Ton

Wenn Sie nach dem Anschließen des HDMI Splitters kein, oder ein schlechtes Bild
empfangen, versuchen Sie dann die Geräte Stück für Stück an Ihren Schirm
anzuschließen (TV, Monitor oder Projektor), um zu sehen, wo das Problem liegt. Auf
diese Art können Sie ermitteln ob es an den HDMI Quellen, den HDMI Kabeln, dem
HDMI Splitter oder dem Schirm liegt. Nicht von ATC (Authorized Test Centers)
getestete und zertifizierte HDMI Geräte können Bild- und Tonprobleme verursachen.

• Prüfen Sie, ob der Speisungsadapter des Split 422 angeschlossen und mit der
Steckdose verbunden ist.

• Verwenden Sie zum Erhalt einer optimalen Bild- und Tonqualität ausschließlich
High Speed HDMI® zertifizierte Kabel.

• Verwenden Sie keine HDMI Kabel, die länger sind als in den technischen Daten
aufgeführt.

• Überprüfen Sie die HDMI Kabel und/oder Anschlüsse auf Beschädigungen.

• Sowohl die HDMI Quelle wie Ihr Bildschirm muss HDMI vollständig unterstützen.

• Prüfen Sie, ob Ihre HDMI Quellen und Bildschirm das Verschlüsselungssystem
HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) unterstützen.

Keine korrekte 3D Wiedergabe

• Überprüfen Sie, ob die HDMI Quelle auf 3D Wiedergabe und/oder auf
automatisch eingestellt ist.

• Sowohl die HDMI Quelle wie Ihr HD Bildschirm müssen dieselben 3D Auflösungen
unterstützen.
