General Safety Information for Power Tools
Warning! Read all safety-related information and safety instructions! Failure to observe the
safety information and instructions may result in electric shock, burns and/or severe injury.
Keep the safety information and instructions for future reference.
The term ‘power tool’ as used in the safety information and instructions includes both mains-operated tools (with power cord) and battery-operated tools (without power cord).
1) Working Area
a) Keep your working area clean and tidy. Untidy
and poorly lit working areas may lead to accidents.
b) Do not operate the tool in potentially explosive
environments containing combustible uids,
gases or dusts. Power tools generate sparks that may ignite dusts or fumes.
c) Keep children and other persons away when
you are operating the power tool. Distractions
may result in the operator losing control over the tool.
2) Electrical Safety
a) The plug of the power tool must t into the
socket. The plug must not be modied in any
way. Do not use adapter plugs/connectors in combination with tools with protective earthing.
Unmodied plugs and tting sockets reduce the risk
of electric shock.
b) Avoid physical contact with earthed surfaces as
pipes, heaters, ovens and refrigerators. There
is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed.
c) Keep the tool out of the rain. Water running into
a power tool increases the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not use the cable to carry or hang up the
tool or to pull the plug out of the socket. Keep the cable away from heat, oil and sharp edges or moving parts of the tool. Damaged or tangled
cables increase the risk of electric shock.
e) When operating a power tool outdoors, only use
extension cables that are approved for outdooruse. The use of an extension cable that is suitable
for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
f) If the operation of a power tool in a moist envi-
ronment cannot be avoided it is essential to use a residual current device (RCD). The use of an
RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.
3) Personal Safety
a) Always pay attention to what you do and apply
reasonable care when working with a power tool. Do not use the tool when you are tired or un-
der the inuence of medication, drugs or alcohol.
When working with power tools even a short mo-
ment of inattentiveness may result in severe injury.
b) Wear personal protection equipment and al-
ways wear eye protection (safety goggles).
Wearing personal protection equipment as a dust mask, nonslip safety shoes, safety helmet or ear protectors (depending on the type and use of the tool) reduces the risk of injury.
c) Avoid unintentional operation. Make sure that
the switch is in ‘OFF’ position before pulling the plug from the socket. When carrying the tool
with your nger on the on/off switch or connecting
the tool to the electric supply with the switch in ‘ON’ position, this may result in accidents.
d) Remove adjustment tools or wrenches and the
like before you switch the tool on. A wrench or
another tool that is inside or on a turning part of the tool may cause injury.
e) Do not overestimate your abilities. Take care
of a safe footing and keep your balance at all times. This will allow you to better control the tool
in unexpected situations.
f) Wear suitable clothes. Do not wear wide cloth-
ing or jewelry. Keep your hair, clothes and gloves clear of all moving parts. Loose clothing,
jewelry or long hair may get caught in moving parts.
g) If dust extraction/collection devices are pro-
vided make sure that they are connected and used properly. The use of these devices reduces
hazards caused by dust.
4) Careful Handling and Use of Power Tools a) Do not overtax the power tool. Use the power
tool intended for your type of work in each case. The use of the suitable power tool within the
stated range of performance makes working more effective and safer.
b) Do not use a power tool with a damaged switch.
A power tool that cannot be switched on or off any more is dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Pull the plug out of the socket before you adjust
a tool, change accessories or put the tool aside.
This precaution avoids the unintentional start of the tool.
d) Store power tools out of the reach of children.
Do not allow persons to use the tool if they are not familiar with the tool or these instructions.
Power tools are dangerous if used by inexperienced persons.
e) Thoroughly maintain your power tool. Check
whether moving parts are working properly and are not jamming/sticking, and whether parts are broken or otherwise damaged in a way that affects the function of the tool. Have damaged parts repaired before using the tool.
Many accidents are the result of poorly maintained power tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Thoroughly
maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges

11
are jamming less often and are easier to guide.
g) Use power tools, accessories, add-on tools,
etc. in accordance with these instructions and in the way described for the respective type of tool. You should also consider the working conditions and the work to be carried out. The
use of power tools for purposes other than those intended for the respective tool may result in dangerous situations.
5) Service a) Have the power tool serviced by qualied tech-
nical personnel only; repairs should be carried out using only original spare parts. This will
ensure the safe operation of the power tool.

Removing snow
• Before starting work, make sure that the area to be clear is free of stones, debris, wires and any other objects.
• Make sure all fasteners (screws, nuts, etc.) are always fully tightened so that you can work safely with the appliance.
• Check the auger for wear and tear at regular intervals.
• Position discharge chute in safe direction and angle, away from operator and bystanders.
• Clearing snowfall often, before it gets too deep. Snow is best removed as soon as possible after snow falls.
• Lift the auger off surface slightly before switch on.
• Switch on and tilt the appliance forward until the scraper blade contacts the ground. Push the appliance forward at a comfortable rate of speed, yet slow enough to clear the path completely. The width and depth of the snow determines your forward speed.
• Direct the snow to the right or to the left by holding
the machine at a slight angle. For the most efcient
snow removal, throw the snow downwind, and slightly overlap each swath.
• The machine can remove snow up to 12 cm / 5” deep in one pass. When clearing deeper drifts, hold the appliance by the upper and lower handles and use a swinging or sweeping motion. Shaving off the top layer and making multiple passes (Fig. 6).
For large areas, a denite pattern of operation is required
to thoroughly clean an area of snow. These patterns will avoid throwing snow in unwanted places as well as eliminating a second removal of snow. (Fig. 7)
Pattern A: Throw the snow to the right or left side where it is possible, as on a long driveway it is advantage to start in the middle.
Plow from one end to the other, throwing snow to both sides.
Pattern B: If the snow can only be thrown to one side of the driveway or path (above), start on the opposite side.
• Scraping the snow all the way down to the pavement will wear out the scraper and auger. To spare the machinery, one or two inches of snow can be left behind, to be handled with de-icing salt or a shovel.
• After clearing the snow, let the motor run for a few minutes so that the ice doesn’t freeze any moving parts. Then switch off the motor, wait for all moving parts to stop, and wipe the ice and snow off the appliance.
Warning! To avoid serious personal injury, do not use hands or feet to unclog chute.
Maintenance and Storage
Before carrying out any maintenance operations, cut off the electric power supply by disconnecting the plug from the extension cable.
• Regular cleaning and maintenance of your appliance will ensure efciency and prolong the life of your appliance.
• After each operation, take apart and clean out the ice and debris from the ventilator and its slot, auger and housings.
• Only use a cloth soaked with hot water and a soft brush to clean the application. Never wet or spray water on the machine!
• Do not use detergents or solvents as these could cause irreparable damage to your appliance. Chemicals can destroy the plastic parts.
• To protect the application from corrosion when storing for a longer period, treat the metal parts with a protective oil (WD 40 or similar).
• Store the appliance in a dry room out reach of kids.
Change of belt (Fig. 8, 9) The drive belts (61) and (57) need to be replaced de-
pends on wear and tear. Drive belt (61)
• Undo screws and take off the cover (74, 75).
• Remove screw, washer and pulley frame (71), and the belt (61) from the pulleys.
• Install the new belt in the same pathway as the old one.
Drive belt (57), small
• Loosen the nut and take the pulley (49) off with the belt (57) off the shaft.
• Reinstall belt (61), pulley frame (71) and the cover.
Auger (Fig. 10) Caution! Check fasteners before each operation. Loose
auger results in additional vibration and damage to the appliance.
To change the auger:
• Remove cover (74, 75), pulley frame (71) and belt (61).
• Loosen the nut from other side of auger (77) and dismount the pulley (69) and auger axle (76).
• Replace the auger with a new one.
Scraper blade (Fig. 11) Scraper blade is a wear item and should be replaced
when necessary. Worn scraper blades invite vibration and damage to the auguer.
• Undo 3 screws.
• Replace with a new one.
