Safety instructions
The following safety instructions should be read and observed before using the battery charging
device to avoid injury to the user and damage to the device.
Intended use
The charging device is only to be used to charge lead acid batteries with a nominal voltage of 6
volts or 12 volts and a capacity of 7-180 Ah. It should not be used to charge NiCd or NiMH
batteries and other non-rechargeable batteries.
• Only use the charging device in enclosed places.
• Keep children and bystanders away from your work area.
• Do not use the charging device in a damp or wet environment.
• Make sure that you have sufficient lighting.
• Do not place the charging device in direct sunlight, rain or snow.
• Do not use the charging device near explosive gases or liquids.
• Wear appropriate work clothes.
• Store the charging device in a dry, safe place out of the reach of children.
• Do not carry the charging device by the cable and do not pull on the cable to remove the
plug from the power socket. Protect the cable from sources of heat, oil and sharp edges.
• Check that the charging device and all cables are in good condition before use.
• Have damaged cables replaced by an approved service centre.
• Do not attempt to carry out any repairs yourself.
• In the event of non-use, the charging device should always be disconnected from the mains
supply.
• Avoid any reciprocal contact with crocodile clips at all costs as soon as the charging device
is connected to the mains supply. Risk of short-circuiting!
Combustible gases develop during the charging of lead acid batteries. Naked flames should
therefore be avoided.
Only use the charging device in a well ventilated area.
First of all, always connect the crocodile clips to the battery terminals before plugging the
charging device into the mains supply.
To terminate the charging process, pull out the power plug and then remove the crocodile clips
from the battery terminals.
Keep battery acids away from clothing or skin. If contact does occur, rinse the affected areas
thoroughly with water. In the event of eye contact, medical assistance should be sought
immediately.

Amperemeter
The amperemeter shows the approximate charging progress of the battery connected. The
charging state is determined using an acidimeter or a voltmeter.
Voltage reversal display
The charging device is equipped with a voltage reversal display. If the crocodile clips are
incorrectly connected to the battery to be charged, the corresponding display lights up on the
front panel and the charging process is not started. In this case, immediately disconnect the
charging device from the mains supply, connect the red clip to PLUS (+) and the black clip to
MINUS (-) on the battery and reconnect the charging device to the mains supply.
Short circuit protection
If the crocodile clips touch when the power cord is plugged into the mains supply, the charging
process will not start and the amperemeter will stay on "0“. Unplug the charging device from the
mains, connect the crocodile clips to the battery terminals and restart the procedure.
Float charging
In the operation mode "12V fast load“, the device automatically switches to "float charging
mode" as soon as the battery is fully charged. The charging state display changes from
"YELLOW“ to "GREEN“.

Overload protection
A 15A overload safety fuse is installed on the back of the charging device. To replace this, flip
down the cover, pull out the safety fuse and replace it with a safety fuse of a similar type and
strength.
User instructions
Remove your vehicle's cable harness from the battery terminals. If necessary, unscrew the
protective covers and check the acid level. If this is below the minimum level marked on the
battery, fill up the corresponding cells with distilled water. Do not use normal tap water under
any circumstances.
During the charging process, the battery closure should stay open so that released gases can
escape. (In the case of sealed batteries, the opening process and the refilling of distilled water
are not needed.)
1. First of all, connect the red charging cable to the battery PLUS terminal and then the black
cable to a body part which is far away from the battery and the fuel pipe. Make sure that the
crocodile clips are in good contact and are firmly held in place.
2. Move the selector switch into the desired position:
1 - 6V normal charge
2 - 12V normal charge
3 - 12V fast charge
3. Only then connect the power plug to a 230V~ mains supply.
4. The amperemeter shows the charging rate during the charging. The longer the charging
process continues, the smaller the amplitude on the display.
5. As soon as the amperemeter shows "0", the battery is fully charged and the charging
process can be terminated.
6. Disconnect the charging device from the mains supply, remove the crocodile clips from the
body and then remove the clip from the battery PLUS terminal.
7. Check the acid level and refill with distilled water if necessary. Carefully seal the covers and
attach the vehicle cable harness to the battery terminals.
8. Check the battery voltage with an acidimeter or voltmeter.

Unused power tools and environmental protection
• If you use the charging device so intensively that it must be replaced or if you no longer need
it, you should dispose of the electric device at a central recycling point.
• You can obtain information about collection facilities for your electric device via your local
disposal company or at your local administration office.
• Electric devices contain valuable recyclable raw materials. You therefore contribute to the
recycling of valuable raw materials when you hand in your old device to a central collection
facility.
• Electric tools also contain substances which could be harmful to humans and the
environment in the event of improper disposal.
• The crossed-out rubbish container sign means that the device identified must be
disposed of in a separate collection for electric and electronic devices for recycling.
