HARDWARE INSTALLATION

General instructions are listed below. Since system designs vary, refer
to your system’s reference manual for additional instructions, if needed.

1. Turn off your notebook computer.

2. Insert the card into the Type II PC
card slot, making sure the card is
fully inserted for a solid connection.

3. Remove the slot bracket from an available
PCI slot.

4. Turn the notebook computer back on.
* IMPORTANT: This FireWire PC Card has

sufcient power to support self-powered
devices. For bus-powered devices, however, it needs an external
power adapter to provide extra power to the devices. Use only a 12 V DC /
3 A switching power adapter with a 3.5mm power jack congured with
outer negative and inner positive voltage.

DRIVER INSTALLATION

Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista automatically detects and installs
the correct driver for the card. To ensure that the driver has been installed
correctly, follow the steps below.

Verify Windows Driver Installation

1. Right-click “My Computer.”

2. Click “Manage.”

3. Click “Device Manager.”

4. With the Device Manager window open, scroll to the IEEE 1394 Bus
host controller icon and click on the plus symbol (+): “VIA OHCI
Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller” should be displayed, indicating
a successful driver installation.
