INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the MANHATTAN® Easy Dock Multi-Port Docking Station, Model 172905.
This convenient device replicates a wide range of ports with a single USB connection to easily install a monitor, mouse, keyboard, printer, Hi-Speed USB 2.0 and network devices with a convenient all-in-one solution. It’s an ideal accessory for traveling notebook computer users to quickly reconnect to home/ofce-based peripherals and devices and to help reduce tangled cables for a neater workspace. USB 1.1 compatibility supports older devices and provides Hi-Speed USB 2.0 data transfer speeds up to 480 Mbps for external storage, printing and other activities.
The easy-to-follow instructions in this user manual help make setup of the station quick and simple, so you’ll also soon be enjoying the benets of these additional features:

HARDWARE
LEDs
• When the Easy Dock Multi-Port Docking Station is connected to the computer(s), all the LEDs will light to indicate a satisfactory link status.
• When only the AC power adapter is connected to the docking station, the Power and PS/2 LEDs will light.
• When a proper connection has been made to the Ethernet and with the proper driver(s) installed, the LINK LED will light.
• When a proper connection has been made to the Ethernet at 100 Mbps, both the LINK and the 10/100M LINK LEDs will light.
Operation
To help ensure that the Easy Dock Multi-Port Docking Station operates under stable conditions, use the AC power adapter.
Should the Hi-Speed USB 2.0 ports become overloaded, reconnect the docking station to the computer ports to re-activate them.

DRIVER INSTALLATION
Windows 98SE
1. Insert the enclosed driver CD into the computer’s CD-ROM drive.
2. Double-click the “Manhattn_EasyDock
4.00.040322.exe” program on the driver CD to begin the installation.
3. When the Welcome screen of the InstallShield Wizard displays, click “Next” to continue.
4. When the Information screen displays, click “Next” to continue.
5. When the rst Complete screen displays, select “Yes, I want to restart my computer now.” Click “Finish.”
6. When the second of the Complete screens displays the “Setup has nished...” message, click “Finish” to complete the driver installation.
7. Insert the Windows 98SE startup CD into the CD­ ROM drive.
8. Connect the docking station to the computer(s) with the enclosed USB cable. NOTE: The A-type connector plugs into the docking station; the B-type connector plugs into the computer.

9. When the Add New Hardware Wizard screen displays the “HUB Support for USB 2.0” search message, click “Next” to begin this part of the install.
10. When the “What do you want Windows to do?” message displays, select “Search for the best driver for your device,” then click “Next” to continue.
11. When the “Windows will search for new drivers...” message displays, click “Next” to continue.
12. When the “Windows is now ready to install the best driver...” message displays, click “Next” to continue.
13. When the “Windows has nished installing the software...” message displays, click “Finsh” to complete the HUB Support for USB 2.0 part of the driver installation and continue.
14. When the Add New Hardware Wizard screen displays the “HUB Composite Device” search message, click “Next” to begin this part of the install.
15. When the “What do you want Windows to do?” message displays, select “Search for the best driver for your device,” then click “Next” to continue.
16. When the “Windows will search for new drivers...” message displays, click “Next” to continue.
17. When the “Windows is now ready to install the best driver...” message displays, click “Next” to continue.
18. When the “Windows has nished installing the software...” message displays, click “Finsh” to complete the HUB Composite Device part of the driver installation and continue.
19. When the Add New Hardware Wizard screen displays the “USB To LAN Converter” search message, click “Next” to begin this part of the install.
20. When the “What do you want Windows to do?” message displays, select “Search for the best driver for your device,” then click “Next” to continue.

21. When the “Windows will search for new drivers...” message displays, click “Next” to continue. This driver will install automatically. NOTE: If the Insert Disk prompt dislplays, insert the Windows 98SE startup disk.
22. When the Add New Hardware Wizard screen displays the “USB Human Interface Device” search message, click “Next” to begin this part of the install.
23. When the “What do you want Windows to do?” message displays, select “Search for the best driver for your device.” Click “Next” to continue.
24. When the “Windows will search for new drivers...” message displays, click “Next” to continue.
25. When the “Windows is now ready to install the best driver...” message displays, click “Next” to continue.
26. When the “Windows has nished installing the software...” message displays, click “Finsh” to complete the USB Human Interface Device part of the driver installation and continue. NOTE: The operating system may present a second USB Human Interface Device procedure: If so, just repeat this part of the process.
Windows Me
1. Insert the enclosed driver CD into the computer’s CD-ROM drive.

5. When the rst Complete screen displays, select “Yes, I want to restart my computer now.” Click “Finish.”

6. When the rst Complete screen displays, select “Yes, I want to restart my computer now.” Click “Finish.”
7. When the second of the Complete screens displays the “Setup has
nished...” message, click “Finish” to complete the driver installation.

8. Connect the docking station to the computer(s) with the enclosed USB cable. NOTE: The A-type connector plugs into the docking station; the B-type connector plugs into the computer.
9. For Windows 2000: When the Digital Signature Not Found screen displays, click “Yes” to continue. For Windows XP: The Found New Hardware Wizard screen will show a new hardware device: “ADM851X USB To Fast Ethernet Adapter.” Select “Install the software automatically”; click “Next” to continue.
10. On the subsequent Hardware Installation screen, click “Continue Anyway.”
11. When the Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard screen displays, click “Finish” to complete the ADM851X USB To Fast Ethernet Adapter installation.
INSTALLATION VERIFICATION
Follow these steps to make sure that the Easy Dock Multi-Port Docking Station has been installed successfully.
Windows 98SE/Me
1. Go to My Computer ‡ Control Panel System Properties Device Manager.
2. Double-click “Human Interface Devices” to show “HID-compliant

device,” “HID-compliant system control device” and “USB Human Interface” (twice).
3. Double-click “Keyboard” to show “HID-compliant keyboard.”
4. Double-click “Mouse” to show “HID-compliant mouse.”
5. Double-click “Network adapters” to show “ADM851X USB To Fast Ethernet Adapter.”
6. Double-click “Ports [COM & LPT]” to show “USB to Serial Port (COMx).”
7. Double-click “Universal Serial Bus controllers” to show “HUB Support for USB 2.0” and “USB Composite Device.”

NOTE: In Winodows Me, a green question mark (?) may appear next to “HUB Support for USB 2.0” and/or “USB Composite Device.” This will not affect the installation or operation.
Windows 2000/XP
1. Go to My Computer ‡ Control Panel System Properties ‡ Hardware Device Manager.
2. Double-click “Human Interface Devices” to show “HID-compliant device” (twice) and “USB Human Interface” (twice).

3. Double-click “Keyboard” to show “HID keyboard device.”
4. Double-click “Mice and other pointing devices” to show “HID-compliant mouse.”

5. Double-click “Network adapters” to show “ADM851X USB To Fast Ethernet Adapter.”
6. Double-click “Ports (COM & LPT)” to show “Prolic USB-to-Serial Com Port (COMx).”
7. Double-click “Universal Serial Bus controllers” to show “Generic USB Hub.”
DRIVER UN-INSTALLATION
Windows 98SE/Me
1. Go to Start Settings ‡ Control Panel Add/Remove Programs.

2. Select “USB 2.0 EASY DOCK.”
3. Click “Add/Remove.”
4. When the Conrm Uninstall screen displays, click “OK” to continue.
5. When the Maintenance Complete screen displays, click “Finish” to complete the driver un-installation.
Windows 2000/XP
1. For Windows XP only Start Menu: Go to Start Control Panel Add or Remove Programs. For Windows 2000/XP only Classic Start Menu: Go to Start ‡ Settings Control Panel Add or Remove Programs.
2. Select “USB 2.0 EASY DOCK.”
3. Click “Change/Remove.”
4. When the Conrm Uninstall screen displays, click “OK” to continue.
5. When the Maintenance Complete screen displays, click “Finish” to complete the driver un-installation.
