INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
CLEARVIEW FUEL FILTER – Mr. Gasket Part No. 9706, 9747 & 9748
9706 – Universal – Fits 1/4”, 5/16” and 3/8” I.D. Hose (does not include hose or clamps) 9747 – Fits 5/16” I.D. Hose Only 9748 – Fits 3/8” I.D. Hose Only
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE BEGINNING INSTALLATION. NOT FOR USE WITH FUEL INJECTED SYSTEMS
OR FUEL SYSTEMS EXCEEDING 10 PSI FUEL PRESSURE.
SAFETY INFORMATION
Do not install fuel filter within 3” of an exhaust component. HEAT CAN IGNITE FUEL. Glass housing will weaken if scratched or chipped. DO NOT USE DAMAGED OR DROPPED PRODUCT. Do not over-tighten barbed hose end fittings and fuel filter ends. FAILURE TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
Mr. Gasket Clearview Fuel Filters allow you to see the condition of your fuel. Replace every 5,000 miles or when visible dirty. When replacing element, tighten metal fuel filter ends to 13 in-lb. Install filter between the fuel tank and carburetor, in an accessible section of fuel line. NOTE:
Make sure to select a protected, cool area in the engine compartment away from hot exhaust components.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR RIGID METAL FUEL LINES
Step 1
Mark an area in the fuel line of 4 – 1/2” to be removed.
NOTE: For best results, remove the fuel line from the vehicle and cut the area to be removed with a tubing cutter.
Step 2
Remove burrs and metal particles from fuel line and re­install in vehicle.
Step 3
Add a short length of rubber fuel hose to each end of the metal fuel line and slide clamps into position on hose.
Step 4
Lubricate barbed hose end fittings and slide fuel filter into position in rubber hose ends. NOTE: Make cer-
tain filter end labeled OUT is positioned towards the carburetor.
Step 5
Position clamps over fuel line and barbed hose ends, then tighten all hose clamps securely.
Step 6
Start engine and check for fuel leaks. Check connections for leaks again after engine has warmed up.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR FLEXIBLE RUBBER FUEL LINES
Step 1
Mark an area in the fuel line of 3 – 1/2” to be removed.
NOTE: For best results, remove the fuel line from the vehicle and cut the area to be removed with a sharp knife.
Step 2
Remove any debris from inside of fuel line and re-install in vehicle.
Step 3
Lubricate barbed hose end fittings and slide fuel filter into position in rubber hose ends. NOTE: Make cer-
tain filter end labeled OUT is positioned towards the carburetor.
Step 4
Position clamps over fuel line and barbed hose ends, then tighten all hose clamps securely.
Step 5
Start engine and check for fuel leaks. Check connections for leaks again after engine has warmed up.
