WORK SAFELY!
Installation of this Panhard Rod Kit requires
working underneath vehicle.
USE EXTREME CARE AND CAUTION WHEN
WORKING UNDERNEATH VEHICLE.
Never get near or under vehicle until you are
confident that it is safely supported and will not
move or fall from its raised position.
PREPARATION FOR INSTALLATION
1. Place vehicle on a solid level surface such as a garage floor to ensure safe installation
2. Place wheel blocks or wedges in front of and behind
both front wheels to prevent movement in either direction.
3. Lift rear of vehicle and support with approved
automotive support stands.
CAUTION
DO NOT BEGIN THIS INSTALLATION UNTIL YOU
ARE CONFIDENT THAT VEHICLE IS SECURE
AND SAFELY SUPPORTED!
REMOVAL OF FACTORY PANHARD BAR
1. Spray penetrating oil/lubricant on threads and nuts of existing mounting bolts.
2. Loosen and remove three (3) mounting bolts, and set
aside. Remove bar from brackets.
WATTS LINK ASSEMBLY
AND INSTALLATION
1. Install and bolt up the Watts Link main body in place the Panhard bar using the factory mounting brackets.
2. Next, install pivot assembly on the Watts Link main
body as shown in both figures A and B. (Propeller is installed between Watts Link and rear end.)
3. Next, attach the Rod ends to the Hex bar Connecting
tubes on each end (tubes must be same length).
4. Attach one end of the Hex bar connecting tubes with
rod ends into the Propeller and let them hang down unattached for the moment.
5. Next, install the Axle Brackets onto the Axle loosely
using the U-bolts and slide the axle brackets out towards the wheels as far as they will go. (
NOTE: The axle vent-cap will go between the u-bolts
on Passenger side.
)
6. Next, attach the Hex Bar connecting tubes with rod ends up to the axle brackets previously installed and finger tightened. Adjust axle brackets on axle to fit and attach the Hex bar connecting tubes, keeping tubes equal.
7. Axle brackets need to be installed with u-bolts on axle
and tightened into the straight up-n-down position on axle Perpendicular to the road.
8. It is very important that the Hex Bar Connecting Tubes are installed parallel with axle. Please install the upper hex bar connecting tube rod end into the Middle hole on the axle brackets. And the lower tube into the bottom hole. They should be pretty level and parallel to axle at this point. If you need to, drill new hole to keep level.
9. Please refer to both figures A and B to see installation correctly done.
10. The Propeller center mounting bolt should be
approximately in center of the differential cover or slightly below for best results.
11. Now, go back over entire assembly and installation to
tighten and torque all hardware firmly and securely. Installation is complete.
NOTE
The adjustable feature of this pivot, enables you to
correctly locate the rear end in relation to various heights.
IMPORTANT!
Periodically check to make sure that all mounting
hardware is securely tightened.
