This manual first describes the appearance, hardware structure, and board cards of MyPower S12800 router; secondly, describes the installation preparations of the device and how to install it to the cabinet; at last, describes the basic using methods and daily maintenance of the device from the aspects of powering on and running the router, troubleshooting and device maintenance.

1 Device Introduction
1.1 Device Appearance and Hardware
S12800 routing switch contains four slot types, that is, MPU, SFU, LPU, and SAIC. The four
slots should be inserted with MPU card, SFU card, LPU card, and SAIC card respectively.
MPU: Main Processing Unit control card. For the specifications, refer to Appendix A2 MPU
Card Specifications.
SFU: Switching Fabric Unit switch card. For the specifications, refer to Appendix A3 SFU
Card Specifications.
LPU: Line Processing Unit user line interface card. For the specifications, refer to Appendix
A4 LPU Card Specifications.
SAIC: System Alarm Interface Card. For the specifications, refer to Appendix A5 SAIC Card

MyPower S12800 series routing switch contains one product model: SM12800-12-MF (V1).
SM12800-12-MF (V1) bare chassis dimension is 442 mm x 645 mm x 840.5 mm (W x D x H). The chassis dimension after installing the chassis mounting ears, device head and power dust­proof net is 484 mm x 745 mm x 840.5 mm (W x D x H). The front appearance diagram of

MPU: Main Processing Unit control card
The MPU card is the most important and mandatory card in S12800 routing switch. It serves as the control center of the device. Each shelf can support two MPU cards at the same time, realizing the 1:1 backup work mode.

SFU: Switching Fabric Unit switch card
The SFU card is the switch network unit of S12800 routing switch, bearing the switching function of the service data between the LPU cards. S12800 supports four SFU cards at most, realizing the 1+n backup function.

LPU: Line Processing Unit subscriber line interface card. It provides various interface shapes for the user to select, meeting various application scenario requirements.

SAIC: System Alarm Interface Card
The SAIC card is used by SM12800-12-MF (V1) and one is mandatory. It indicates the system working status via the LED indicator.

1.6 Introduction to Power Module
When installing the power, pull out the external AC power cable, or confirm that the
control switch of the AC power is closed.
If some power module is inserted to the shelf, but is not connected to the AC power cable
in the power supply state, the system regards that the power module is faulty and the system alarms.

1.7 Fan Module and Device Air Passage
Valid dissipation: Ensure that the device can run normally for a long time
Status monitoring: Support the fan faulty alarm
S12800 routing switch supports AC power supply mode and can support N+1 redundant backup. It also can realize the power output power balance, so as to improve the system reliability. The load sharing can be realized automatically between the power modules and does not need the user operation.

The fan module of S12800 routing switch is the important part of ensuring the normal running of the device system (mandatory module), providing the air flow for the system dissipation. It has the following functions and features:

Auto speed regulation: You can regulate the speed automatically according to the device

1.7.2 Device Air Passage

fan indicator “FAN” is used to indicate the running status of the fan module. The switch card indicator “SFU” is used to indicate the running status of the SFU card.
FAN-19A-01 fan module is the mandatory module of SM12800-12-MF (V1) and supports the hot swap. Each SM12800-12-MF (V1) has four FAN slots. You should install four FAN-19A-01 fan modules so that the system can run normally.

2 Installation Preparations
When the device is delivered, there is the packing list. Please confirm whether the
accessories are complete and good according to the items in the packing list. If there is damaged or loss, please contact Maipu technical staff to replace.
2.1 Check Device Running Environment

2.1.2 Check Power Supply System
Step 1:
Estimate the whole power consumption of the device.
Step 2:
Select the appropriate power module according to the power consumption and power supply mode of the device.
To ensure the normal running of the device, it is necessary to ensure that the maximum output power of the device power module is larger than the whole power consumption of the switch (it is suggested to reserve a certain power derating.
Step 3:
Confirm that the power supply system of the installation place can meet the input requirement of the device power.
Ensure that the power supply system of the installation place is stable and can meet the input mode, rated input voltage and other parameter requirements of the selected power module. For details, refer to Appendix D2 Requirements for
Power Supply.

device, refer to Appendix A Entire Device and Common Module
Specifications.
2.2 Safety Precautions
2.2.1 General Safety
Ensure that the ground of the installation place is dry and smooth and you have made the
anti-skidding measures.
Keep the device clean and dust-free; do not place the device in the damp place.
The whole device and the related parts (such as power and chassis) are heavy. When
moving and lifting, need several persons to cooperate and avoid that the body is scratched by the sharp part of the equipment. During moving, please wear the working gloves.
The good power supply system is the basis of the device power-on starting and stable running. To meet the power supply requirement of S12800 routing switch, please complete the following steps:

2.2.2 Electrical Safety
Please check whether there are potential dangers. For example, the power is not
grounded, power supply grounding is not reliable, and the ground is wet.
Before installation, get to know the location of the emergency power switch in the room;
when there is an accident, cut off the emergency power switch at first.
Before moving the chassis, be sure to unplug all external cables (including power cable).
When maintaining with power, it is recommended that there are two or more persons in
the field.
When closing the power, ensure that the neutral line and live line are disconnected.
2.2.3 Static Safety
When installing the components of the device, especially installing the components with
the circuit board (such as board), we should wear anti-static wrists.
When holding the circuit board, please hold the edge of the circuit board and do not touch
the components or printed circuit.
For the security, please check the resistance of the anti-static wrists. The resistance
between the body and the ground should be 1-10 megohms.
Step 1:
Put his hand into the anti-static wrist.
Step 2:
Tighten the fastener and ensure that the piece metal on the anti-static wrist is well contacted with the skin.
Step 3:
Insert the anti-static wrist into the anti-static wrist jack on the router chassis or clip the alligator clip of the anti-static wrist to the grounding terminal of the router.
Step 4:
Ensure that the anti-static wrist well-grounded. The using method of the anti­static wrist is shown in the following figure.
To avoid the static from damaging the electronic parts of the device, we need to take the anti­static measures.
The using steps of the anti-static wrists are as follows:

2.2.4 Handling Safety
Before handling or moving the device, unplug all external cables (including power cable).
When moving the device, need four persons or use professional handling forklift to
operate.
When moving the device, use the handles at the two sides of the chassis or the device
bottom to support the weight. Do not use the chassis panel, fan module handles, power handles or other parts to support the weight, so as to avoid the damage of the device hardware, even the body damage.
2.2.5 Laser Safety
For the S12800 routing switch with the optical interface, avoid directly viewing the laser
beam from the optical module inside. Viewing the laser beam from the optical module inside directly may damage your eyes.

S12800 routing switch is large and heavy. When moving it, please pay attention to the following requirements:

2.3 Open-Package and Inspection
Step 1:
View the carton label and confirm the card or module model.
Step 2:
Use a paper knife to gash the tape along the lid commissure; be careful when using the knife; do not insert too deep, avoiding damaging equipment inside.
Step 3:
Open the carton, and take out of the protection EPE.
Step 4:
Check the card type and quantity in the carton according to the packing list.
Step 5:
Wear an antistatic wrist, open the anti-static bag, take out the board, and check whether the board has the obvious damage (including whether the backplane connector pin/hole is deformed, whether the heat sink falls off and so on).
2.4 Wooden Box Open-package
Wooden box has direction and cannot be placed inverted. Otherwise, it will cause fatal
damage for the product.
When handling and opening the wooden box, it needs two or more persons to cooperate.
The wooden box adopts the alligator clip to fix. When opening the wooden box, you need
to use the dedicated tools for removing the alligator clip to operate.
Step 1:
Wear the gloves.
Step 2:
Place the wooden box flat on the ground. The wooden box has direction and cannot be placed inverted.
Step 3:
Remove the opener.
When delivering S12800 routing switch, adopt the carton to packet some card or module separately according to the configuration purchased by the user. Please inspect according to the following steps:
The shelf of S12800 routing switch adopts the wooden packaging. The packaging of one shelf comprises the wooden box, plastic bags, protection EPE and other packaging materials. Before opening the box, move the packing box to the equipment room or near to the equipment room (if the space permits), so as to avoid damaging the shelf when moving.

Step 4:
Open the alligator clips at the sides of the wooden box.
Step 5:
After opening the alligator clip, remove the wooden board at the top and four
sides of the wooden box. The effect drawing after removing the wooden boards
is as shown in Figure 2-4. There is one EPE at the front, back, top, and bottom
of the chassis respectively to protect the wooden box. In the EPE at the top of
the wooden box, there are the related accessories matching wth the device.
The opener is at one top corner of the wooden box top surface. Find the opener and removes it.

The left hand holds one side of the alligator clip, the right hand holds the opener, insert the opener into the notch of the pin at the other side of the alligator clip, and then pry out the pin of the alligator clip until the alligator clip pops out from the notch, as shown in the following figure:

3 Device Installation
3.1 Install Device to Cabinet

3.1.3 Install and Adjust Load-Bearing Pallets
To ensure that the device can be installed to the cabinet normally, it is required that the depth of the cabinet front pillar and square hole column is larger than 120mm and the width of the square hole column at the two sides of the cabinet is 450mm. The diagram for adjusting the depth of the cabinet square hole column is shown in Figure 3-1. The diagram for adjusting the width of the square hole column is shown in Figure 3-2.

The pallet is to support the device weight. According to the following requirement, install and adjust the pallet. If the cabinet is not configured with the pallet, purchase it separately, and then install according to the requirement.

Before installing the pallet, confirm whether the load-bearing capability of the used pallet
meets the weight requirement of S12800 chassis and inside inserted cards. For the weights of the components, refer to Appendix A Entire Device and Common Module
Specifications.
Ensure that the distance between the pallet and the cabinet bottom is 2U and the three
holes on the square hole bar are 1U, as shown in Figure 3-3.
1U is 44.45mm. Here, U is short for Rack Unit.

Confirm the installation location of the pallet on the cabinet and use the marker to mark the installation hole position.
To ensure the stability of the cabinet, try to install the heavy and high device at the

The following takes the 19-inch standard cabinet as an example to describe how to install the pallet.
The steps for installing the pallet are as follows:

Step 2:
Maintain the level of the tray, the tray is installed to the marked position, and lock the fixing screw.
The appearance and installation method of different kinds of cabinets and pallets are
different. The content of the section is just for reference. Please subject to the actual situation.
3.1.4 Install Floating Nut to Cabinet
Step 1:
Take out the installation positioning plate of the floating nuts from the accessory bag of the accessory box. Mark the installation position of the floating nut on the square hole post of the cabinet by comparing with the hole position on the positioning plate.

Before installing the chassis to the cabinet, first install the floating nuts on the upright square hole bars at the both sides in the front of the cabinet.

Step 2:
Install the floating nuts at the marked position (Each installation hole on the mounting ear should be installed with one floating nut), as shown in Figure 3-5.

3.1.5 Install Device to Cabinet
Before installing the device to the cabinet, ensure that the corresponding positions on the
cabinet are installed with the pallet and the pallet can support the weight of the device and its accessories.
Step 1:
Uplift the chassis from the packaging pallet. When uplifting the chassis, need four persons to use the hands to hold the handles at the left and right sides of the chassis. Except for the four handles at the two sides of the chassis, the other parts cannot bear the weight, as shown in Figure 3-6.

The following describes the installation process of installing the device to the cabinet.

Step 2:
Lift the host and place on the bearing pallet and push the chassis into the cabinet until the mounting ears at the two sides of the chassis fit the square hole post, as shown in Figure 3-7.
Step 3:
Use the M6 panel screws to fix the floating nuts on the chassis mounting ears and cabinet post square hole bar, so as to prevent the device from sliding front and back.
If the screw hole on the mounting ear cannot align to the floating nut
installed on the cabinet correctly, check whether the bearing surface of the pallet is on the integer U boundary and whether the floating nut is installed on the correct hole position.

The mounting ears do not bear the weight. Do not bear the device only using the mounting
ears without installing the pallet.
3.1.6 Install Cabling Rack

The cabling rack includes two kinds: one has three slots and the other has two slots. Each kind is also divided to L-direction and R-direction. The L-direction is installed to the left side of the chassis and the R-direction is installed to the eight side of the host.
