5. Setting-up and Basic Adjustment
A grinding test run is carried out on each grinder in the factory. This is why you may fi nd ground material residue in the grinding mechanism!
5.1 Setting-up area
Place the grinder on a level surface free from vibration.
Never operate the grinder in moist, or even worse, in wet surroundings.
5.2 Installation
You have received your grinder in operating condition. Now you only need to connect it to a power supply system. Proceed as follows:
Protect your grinder with a separate pre-fuse (not included in the scope of supplies) according to the information provided under Item 2 „Technical data“.
Make sure that the pre-fuse is not overloaded by other consuming devices (e.g. fan-forced heaters, deep freezers).
4. Safety devices
Thermal overload circuit breaker
The motor of the grinder is protected by an overload circuit breaker, which interrupts the electric circuit of the motor when the grinder is subjected to electric overloading. To be able to re-start the grinder, the reset button on the back side of the casing must be pressed (pos.8).
The user has no infl uence whatsoever on this operation. In case of repeated tripping of the circuit breaker, a service technician must be consulted since this could cause damage to the motor winding.
Finger protector / Magnet holder
A combined fi nger protector / magnet holder is fi tted in the hopper of the grinder. It is supposed to prevent the user from reaching into the running grinding mechanism. At the same time, it also prevents ferrous foreign objects from getting into the grinding mechanism. Every now and then you should clean the magnet since adhering foreign objects could be hanging from the magnet.
Never remove the fi nger protection!

The bag is shaken by this shaking panel. Do not hold the bag
during the grinding process so that it is positioned against the shaking panel fully opened.
5. After all coffee has been ground hold the base of the bag loosely in one hand and with the other hand press the handle of the bag holder and allow it to knock against the spout 2 or 3 times. This removes any ground coffee which may still be attached to the inside of the spout.
6. Now switch off the grinder and remove the fi lled bag from the spout.
Determine whether the mains voltage and frequency correspond to the information on the rating plate.
Insert the plug into the available grounded outlet.
6. Operation
1. Position the grind adjustment lever of the grind degree setting to the grind degree you require (Pos. 3).
2. Only fi ll whole coffee beans into the hopper. Close the hopper.
3. Press down the handle of the bag holder and push the completely opened bag, which has been smoothed along the folds, over the spout. Let go of the handle and the bag is held fi rmly in position.
4. Now you can switch on the grinder and the grinding process starts. The grinder is equipped with a shakingpanel to make sure that ground coffee cannot clog the spout.

Defect
The grinder hums but does not grind.
7. Operating Faults
Cause
The spout is clogged.
Grinding is set too fi ne.
A foreign object is in the grinding mechanism.
Remedy
Set grinding fi neness to „coarse“ and start the grinding process. The grinder will then grind itself free. Afterwards, return the setting to the desired grinding fi neness.
Turn the grinding fi neness setting to the right, to „coarse“, and start the grinding process. The grinder will then grind itself free. Afterwards, return the setting to the desired grinding fi neness.
Clean the grinding mechanism as described (see 9.3) and remove the foreign object. Observe the safety instructions!
Defect
The grinder does not start.t
Cause
The power supply plug is not inserted.
The overload circuit breaker has been tripped.
The pre-fuse was tripped.
Remedy
Insert the plug into the outlet.
Check to determine whether the reset button of the circuit breaker has jumped out (pos.8). Press the reset button in again if appropriate. In case of repeated tripping of the circuit breaker, contact your authorised customer service centre or dealer.
Check the pre-fuse. Restore the pre-fuse to its initial state or replace it. Determine whether other consuming devices are also connected to this fuse.

Defect
Grinder rotates but without grinding.
In case of other malfunctions or continued faults, please contact your dealer or your authorised customer service centre.
Cause
Metal parts on the hopper magnet obstruct the incoming fl ow of material to be ground.
Remedy
Clean the hopper magnet.
8. Recalibration of the Grind Adjustment
The grinder has been precisely adjusted by the manufacturer. However, if the ground coffee is no longer fi ne enough after a longer period, the grinder can be re-adjusted according to the following procedure:
1. Move the grind adjustment lever into position “1”.
2. Unscrew the three hopper attachments and remove the hopper.
3. Now switch on the grinder.
4. Looking into the upper part of the casing you will see a red hexagon screw at the back on the adjusting ring. Loosen this screw using an 8 mm fork wrench. Now move the grind adjustment lever to position “5” and tighten the hexagon screw again.
A: red hexagon screw B: adjusting ring
10
Page 11
||
LADENMÜHLEN SHOP GRINDERS
5. Now carefully move the grind adjustment lever in the direction of position „1” until you hear a rattling noise, then immediately turn it back by 1 or 2 notches. The rattling sound is created by the grinding discs coming into contact with one another and may only be caused for a very brief moment as otherwise the teeth can be damaged.
6. Now loosen the red hexagon screw again and move the grind adjustment lever to position „1“ and tighten the red hexagon screw again. Make sure that the adjusting ring is set correctly.
It is important to ensure that no „rattling“ noise of the grinding discs can be heard! Their service life will otherwise be signifi cantly reduced!
7. Put the hopper back on again and screw in the three hopper attachments through the upper part of the casing and into the threads of the hopper.
If the result is not good enough the grinder then needs cleaning or you have to change the grinding discs.
9. Cleaning
Always pull the power supply plug out of the outlet before carrying out any maintenance or cleaning work on the grinder!
Observe the safety instructions under 1.2!
Do not let any foreign objects fall into the grinding mechanism!!
9.1 Cleaning with GRINDZ™ grinder cleaner
We recommend cleaning your shop grinder once a month with our GRINDZ™ Grinder Cleaner.
Simply take the recommended dose of 70 - 80g and drop it into the empty grinder hopper. You can also use the cup of the jar for dosing. A full cup will yield between 35 - 40 grams.
Adjust the grind setting to medium and operate as if grinding coffee beans. Once complete, we recommend passing twice as much coffee through to purge any residues.

9.2 Cleaning the grinder casing
Clean the casing of your grinder every now and then with commercially available mild cleaning agents. In addition, you should also clean the magnet in the hopper from time to time by removing any foreign objects that may have become stuck because otherwise this could result in clogging.
Do not let any foreign objects fall into the grinding mechanism!!
9.3 Cleaning the grinding mechanism
Pull out the power supply plug !
1. Move the grind adjustment lever to position “9”.
2. Remove the cladding by tapping it slightly in the direction of the arrows.
3. Now you can open both quick release locks and remove the upper part of the casing as well as the hopper.
Grinder casing fro the top: a) grinding disc b) grinding space c) drilled hole with safety switch inside d) surface of the grinder casing e) quick release locks
Grinder casing cover with hopper: f) grinding discs g) grinder casing cover h) surface of the grinder casing cover i) screw for safety-switch
4. You can clean the grinding space with a hard brush now. Ground coffee can be left in the grinding space. The spout is cleaned from below.
No coffee residues may adhere to the surfaces where the grinder casing and the grinder casing cover lie on top of one another when you put the grinder back together again.

5. Put the upper part of the casing back on and close the quick release locks. Make sure that the screw in the grinder casing cover engages in the hole in the grinder casing.
There is a safety switch underneath this hole which prevents
the grinder being switched on accidentally when the upper part has been removed.
6. Now push the cladding back onto the upper part of the casing.
Move the grind adjustment lever to the coarsest setting on the right.
Plug the plug into the socket and switch the grinder back on
again. The coffee remains in the grinding space are now thrown out, therefore position a bag or a container under the spout.
7. Now move the grind adjustment lever back into notch “1” and the grinder is ready for grinding again.
10. Maintenance and Repair
Always pull the power supply plug out of the outlet before carrying out any maintenance or cleaning work on the grinder!
Check the grinder regularly for any signs of damage on the power supply cable, plug, fi nger protector, etc.
Any repairs that may be required are only allowed to be carried out by authorised experts. Please contact an authorised customer service centre or your local dealer. 10.1 Grinding Disc Replacement
10.1 Grinding disc replacement
If the grinding performance decreases and the ground coffee is hot and irregular, you should change the grinding discs.
1. Open the grinder as described in “9.3 Cleaning the grinding mechanism”.
2. After removing the old grinding discs, coffee residues must be cleaned from the seat and surfaces of the grinding discs before the new grinding discs can be inserted.
13
Page 14
||
LADENMÜHLEN SHOP GRINDERS
If this is not done, the grinding discs are not parallel to one
another and the ground coffee would be coarse and uneven.
3. Make sure that the surfaces are very clean when you place the upper part of the casing in its position. Proceed as described in “9.3”.
4. If the machine needs to be readjusted, proceed as de scribed in „8. Recalibration of the Grind Adjustment“.
