IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
Getting Started
1. Read all warnings below and follow all instructions within this manual.
2. Only use films of standard size.
3. Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
4. To save energy, the scanner will automatically shut down after 30 minutes of inactivity. Press the power button to turn back on.
Safety Alerts
1. If any of the following conditions are present, stop using immediately, unplug the power cord, and refer to a qualified service professional for servicing:
a. If there is any smoke or unusual smell while using. b. If the product has been exposed to rain, water, or other liquids. c. If the product does not operate normally by following the operating instructions. d. If the product exhibits a distinct change in performance. e. If the product has been dropped or damaged in any way.
Best Practices for Safe Use
1. Unwind and straighten the USB cord before use.
2. Check that the power voltage stated on the rating label corresponds to your local electricity supply.
3. Unplug the power adapter from the wall when the product is unused for a long period of time and during thunderstorms.
4. Do not use this product near water.
5. Do not immerse this product, the power cord, or any accessories in water or any other liquid.
6. Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
7. Do not place this product near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
Cleaning and Care
1. Please make sure the scanner is clean before using.
2. Do not clean the scanner with alcohol, gasoline, diluent or other organic solvents.
3. Clean outside of the product only with a dry cloth.
4. Do not clean the inside of this product with anything except for the included cleaning brush.
Servicing/Repair/Replacement Parts
1. Do not attempt to service or disassemble this product yourself as opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltages or other hazards. Refer all servicing to a qualified service professional.
2. When replacement parts are required, be sure the service technician has used replace­ment parts specified by the manufacturer, or have the same characteristics as the original parts. Unauthorized substitutions may result in fire, electric shock, or other hazards.
3. Upon completion of any service or repairs to this product, ask the service technician to perform safety checks to determine that the product is in proper operating condition.

Foreword
Thank you for purchasing this product. Read this manual carefully before use, and save the instructions for future reference. Please use this product properly.
NOTE: Do not disassemble this product yourself.
Maintenance Matters
High Temperature: The product should be kept away from heat sources such as radiators/heaters.
Cleaning: Use the included cleaning brush before scanning so that the image clearly shows.
Non-Use Period: When the product is not in use for a long period of time, remove the USB cable from your computer and unplug the power cord.
Scanning Medium: Please use the standard lm size when scanning.

Loading the Trays
Loading Film
1. Hold the negative up towards the light to determine the orientation. You want the image to face you right-side up.
2. Locate the Negative Tray.
3. The side labeled “THIS SIDE UP” should be facing you.
4. Open the tray carefully,
and place the lm
negative inside of the tray.
5. Close the tray and press the edges making sure they are locked in place.
6. Insert tray into the opening on the right side of the Film Scanner to begin.

Loading Slides 1. Hold the slide up towards
the light to determine the orientation. You want the im­age to face you right-side up.
2. Locate the Slide Tray.
3. The side labeled “THIS SIDE UP” should be facing you.
4. Open the slide tray carefully, and place the slides into the tray.
5. Close the slide tray and press the edges making sure they are locked in place.
6. Insert tray into the opening on the right side of the Film Scanner to begin.
Handle lms with care to avoid scratches or nger prints(for the best results
use cotton gloves when handling lms) It is recommended to use compressed cotton
to remove any dust on the lms.

Menu
Capture Picture
1. Before scanning please make sure the inner backlight panel is clean.
You can use the provided brush to clean the screen.

2. In the Main Menu mode press OK to enter capture mode. Then press SCAN/MENU then press OK to capture the picture.
Before pressing OK to capture picture, press the left button to mirror and press right button to ip the current picture. Press OK button to set Exposure. Press the SCAN/MENU button again back to main menu.
3. Press the left key to mirror the image horizontally.

4. Press the right key to ip the image vertically.
5. Press OK to set exposure compensation
Operation Guide
In the Main Menu, press , until you see (Film Type). Then press
OK. Choose from the following options:
Color Negative: For 110, 135, or 126KPK
Slide Positive: For 110, 135, 126KPK, or Super 8
B&W Negative: For 110, 135, or 126KPK

How to Playback Saved Pictures
In the Main Menu, press , until you see (Playback). Press OK to enter the picture auto-playback mode. To stop auto-playback and view images manually, press OK again. In manual playback you can change pic­tures by pressing . To enter Picture Editing mode, press OK while looking at an image in manual playback. You can rotate, delete, and save images in this mode. Selecting the (Home) option on the screen will take you back to the Main Menu.

Setting Language
Under the Main Menu mode press until you see (Language). Then press OK to chose a language. Then press and OK to choose one of following 8 languages: English, French, Spanish,
Simplied Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, German or Italian.
Changing Resolution
Under the Main Menu mode, press until you see (Resolution) then press OK to enter into Resolution Mode. You can choose 14M or 22M (interpolation).

Formatting
In the Main Menu, press until you see (Format), press the OK button to enter.
After using this function, all information in the Micro SD card will be deleted.
Note:
Connect to Computer
Under the Main Menu mode press until your see (USB MSDC) then press OK. After successfully connecting the lm scanner to your computer using the provided USB cable, you can view and edit captured pictures.

Frequently Asked Questions / Troubleshooting
Q: How can I get the best quality scan possible?
A: Ensure the Resolution is set to 22M (default), the film/slides are clean, and clean the inside of the unit with the included cleaning brush immediately before scanning.
Q: How should I prepare the film/slides to ensure the best possible scan?
A: The film should be free of any dust/fingerprints. This can be done with an appropriate cleaning cloth.
Q: I’ve noticed a consistent spot on every slide I have scanned. Is something wrong with my scanner?
A: There is likely a small amount of dust inside your unit. Use the included cleaning brush to ensure there is no foreign debris.
Q: Do I need a computer to begin scanning?
A: Everything is plug-and-play right out of the box. You can save images to an SD card (up to 32 GB) or the scanner’s internal memory, and then export to a computer at a time that is more convenient.
Q: Can I connect it to any computer/laptop?
A: Yes, it uses standard USB cable to connect to any computer with a USB port.
Q: What file format are the images saved as?
A: The files are saved in JPG format.
Q: Can I use this to scan raw film or do I need to develop the negatives first?
A: The scanner will work for developed film only.
Q: Does the scanner convert Super 8 movie film into a digital movie file?
A: The scanner can convert Super 8 film into still images. These files can then be used with separate software (not included) to create movie files.
Q: Can I use the Film Scanner to scan prints?
A: Slides and Negatives can be scanned, however printed pictures can’t be.
Q: What type of light source does the scanner use?
A: The scanner uses an LED back light. This is not a source of heat and is safe to use on all negatives/film types.
Q: Why do my scanned images look orange?
A: If your scanned images are not the correct color, you can easily set different exposure com­pensation (EV, R, G, B) until it is the correct color. See Page 9 of the manual for instructions.

Magnasonic gives the following express warranty to the original consumer purchaser or gift recipient for this Magnasonic product, when shipped in its original container and sold or distributed by Magnasonic or by an Authorized Magnasonic Dealer: Magnasonic warrants that this product is free, under normal use and maintenance, from any defects in material and workmanship. If any such defects should be found in this product within the applicable warranty period, Magnasonic shall, at its
option, repair or replace the product as specied herein. Replacement
parts furnished in connection with this warranty shall be warranted for a period equal to the unexpired portion of the original equipment warranty.
This warranty shall not apply to: Any defects caused or repairs required as a result of abusive operation, negligence, accident, improper installation or inappropriate use as outlined in the owner’s manual.
Any Magnasonic product tampered with, modied, adjusted or repaired
by any party other than Magnasonic or Magnasonic Authorized Service Centres.
Damage caused or repairs required as a result of the use with items not
specied or approved by Magnasonic, including but not limited to head
cleaning tapes and chemical cleaning agents.
Any replacement of accessories, glassware, consumable or peripheral items required through normal use of the product including but not limited to earphones, remote controls, AC adapters, batteries, stylus, trays,
lters, cables, paper, cabinet, cabinet parts, knobs, buttons, baskets, stands
and shelves.

Any cosmetic damage to the surface or exterior that has been defaced or caused by normal wear and tear.
Any damage caused by external or environmental conditions, including but not limited to transmission line/power line voltage or liquid spillage.
Any product received without appropriate model, serial number and CSA /cUL /cULus /cETL /cETLus markings.
Any products used for rental or commercial purposes. Any installation, setup and/or programming charges. Should this Magnasonic product fail to operate during the warranty period, warranty service may be obtained upon delivery of the Magnasonic product together with proof of purchase and a copy of this LIMITED WARRANTY statement to an Authorized Magnasonic Service Centre. In-home warranty service may be provided at Magnasonic’s discretion on any Magnasonic television with the screen size of 40” or larger. This warranty constitutes the entire express warranty granted by Magnasonic and no other dealer, service centre or their agent or employee is authorized to extend, enlarge or transfer this warranty on behalf of Magnasonic. To the extent the law permits, Magnasonic disclaims any and all liability for direct or indirect damages or losses or for any incidental, special or consequential damages or loss of
prots resulting from a defect in material or workmanship relating to the
product, including damages for the loss of time or use of this Magnasonic product or the loss of information. The purchaser will be responsible for any removal, re-installation, transportation and insurance costs incurred. Correction of defects, in the manner and period of time described herein,
