OTA (over the air) Antenna Hookup:
Some older Winegard or Jack antennas require 12 volts to activate the amplifier in the antenna. The VCS-10 is designed to feed 12 volts (low current) through the antenna cable to power these antenna types. For these cases, the +12VDC harness supplied with the VCS-10 will need to be connected to a 12 volt power supply. Please note that a 12 volt
power supply is not required for the VCS-10 switching function to operate.
DVD Input/ Loop Output Hookups:
Any device that has composite audio/video output (Red,White,Yellow) can be connected to the DVD input of the VCS-10. This includes DVD players, VCR players or Cable Set Top boxes. Connecting to the DVD input will require the connection of the supplied 12 volt harness to power the built-in RF converter.
Loop Output:
Converting the composite A/V input DVD input to RF will generally reduce video quality. To maintain the video quality to the main TV set, the VCS-10 has a loop through output that bypasses the RF converter and connects the DVD input directly to the main TV’s A/V input. Select the “A/V” or “Video” source using your TV remote to utilize this feature if connected.
Channel 3 or 4 selection:
To view the converted (RF) DVD input signal, a TV must be set on channel 3 or 4 depending on the setting of the VCS-10 selector switch. Out of the box the VCS-10 is set to channel 3.
“FROM AUX 1”, “FROM AUX 2” and “FROM CABLE” Connections:
These connection points on the VCS-10 are all RF inputs and can be connected to any device that has an “F Type” output connector on it. This includes “Shore Cable”, Set Top boxes, or Satellite Antennas. The wording used to identify each button on the front of the VCS-10 is general. It is up to the user to remember what was connected to a specific input and use the appropriate front panel button to select the desired input.
