These Operating Instructions belong to this WiFi Range
Extender. They contain impor tant information about the
start-up and handling.
Study these Operating Instructions and, in particular the Safety
information in detail prior to using the WiF i Range Extender. Nonobser vance of these Operating Instructions can lead to damage to
the WiFi Range Extender. These Operating Instructions are based
on valid standards and regulations of the EU. Also observe specific
guidelines and laws in other countries!
Keep Operating Ins tructions for further use. When passing on the
WiFi Range Extender to third parties please also include these
Operating Instructions.

These signal words indicate a high-level hazard which could cause

Correct use
The WiF i Range Extender is designed to only be used as WiFi Range
Extender. WiFi Range Extender is only suitable for private and not for
commercial use.
Only use WiFi Range Extender as described in the operating
instructions. Any other use is deemed to be incorrect and can cause
material damage.
The manufacturers or dealers do not accept any liability for damage
resulting from improper or incorrect use.
Safety information
This equipment complies with FCC radiation exposure limits set
forth for an uncontrolled environment. This equipment should be
installed and operated with minimum distance of 7.9 inches ( 20cm)
between the radiator and your body. This transmitter must not be
co-located or operating in conjunc tion with any other antenna or
transmitter

Faulty electrical installations or excessive mains voltage can cause
electrocution.
− Only connect WiFi Range Extender if the mains voltage of the power
point matches the voltage specified on the rating plate.

− The 110 V socket used or the WiFi Range Extender must be freely accessible at all times, so that it can be quickly disconnected from the mains
when necessary.
− Do not operate the WiFi Range Extender if it is visibly damaged.
− Ensure adequate ventilation and do not cover WiFi Range Extender to
prevent overheating.
− Do not open housing but have repair carried out by an expert. Contact
a specialist workshop. All liability and warranty claims shall be void in
case of repairs carried out by users, incorrect connection or improper
use.
− For repairs only use parts corresponding to the original devices. This
equipment contains electric and mechanical parts required for protection against hazard sources.
− The ON/OFF switch should not be used to separate the WiFi Range
Extender from the AC mains.
− The WiFi Range Extender may not be operated with an external timer
or separate remote control system.
− Never immerse WiFi Range Extender or plug in water or other fluids.
− Never touch WiFi Range Extender with wet hands.
− Install LAN cable in such a way that it does not become a trip hazard.
− Do not kink LAN cable and do not install it over sharp edges.
− Keep WiFi Range Extender away from open flames and hot surfaces.
− Only use WiFi Range Extender as described in the operating
instructions. Never operate WiFi Range Extender in wet rooms or in
the rain.
− Never store WiFi Range Extender in such a way that it can fall into a
trough or wash basin.
− If the WiFi Range Extender shows signs of smoke, smells burnt or
makes unusual noises, disconnect from mains immediately and do
not operate.
− Ensure that children do not push objects into the WiFi Range Extender.
− When not using or cleaning the WiFi Range Extender or in case of a
fault, always switch off WiFi Range Extender and pull mains connector
out of socket.

− Do not use the WiFi Range Extender if plastic or metal parts of the
device show cracks or tears or are deformed. Replace damaged parts
only with original spare parts.
− Do not leave the WiFi Range Extender unintended during operation.

sensory or mental abilities (such as partially disabled,
older persons with limited physical and mental abilities)
or lack of experience and know-how (such as older
children).
This WiF i Range Extender may be used by children 8 years or older
and persons with reduced physical, sensor y or mental abilities or
lack of experience or know-how provided they are supervised or
have been instruc ted on how to safely use the range f inder and
understand hazards resulting therefrom. Children may not play
with the WiFi Range Extender. The WiFi Range Extender may not be
cleaned or maintained by children without supervision.
− Keep WiFi Range Extender away from children below the age of 8.
− Children may not play with the WiFi Range Extender.
− Keep packaging foil away from children. They could get caught in it
during play and could suffocate.
− When cleaning the WiFi Range Extender, never immerse in water and
do not use steam cleaner. The WiFi Range Extender could otherwise be
damaged.
− Only to be used with IT equipment.

If the packaging is carelessly opened with a shar p knife or other
pointed objects, the WiFi Range E xtender can be easily damaged.
− Please open packaging carefully.
1. Remove WiFi Range Ex tender from packaging and check
whether the equipment or parts are damaged. If they are, do not
use the WiFi Range E xtender. Contact the ser vice address of the
manufacturer listed on the Warranty card.

Basic cleaning
− Remove packaging material and all protective foil.
− Prior to using for the first time, clean all parts of the WiFi Range Extender as described in the section Cleaning.
NOTE!

Incorrect use of cleaning products can damage the WiFi Range
Extender .
− Please use cleaning products carefully to avoid damage to the WiFi
Range Extender.
Overview
This WiF i Range Extender quickly and effectively extends the range
of an existing WL AN network. It suppor ts WLAN standards 802.11
b/g/n in the 2. 4 GHz- range and WL AN standards 802.11 a/n in the 5.0
GHz range. Transmission speed is up to 733 Mbit/s.
Due to the WP S button, the device can be simply configured by
pressing the button. In devices with the described configuration,
also the Fast-Ethernet socket for connec tion of wired network
devices (e.g. network cameras) up to 100 Mbit/s can be used.
The device has a compact design with 3 integrated aerials or
optimum and fault-free data transmission

The WiFi Range Extender can be installed in a few s teps, manually
or via App. For manual installation, follow the below steps. The
installation via App is described from page 28 onwards.
1. Plug the WiFi Range E xtender into a socket close to the router.
Slide the mode switch
Extender to “AP/Repeater” and switch on repeater.
2. Wait until Power LED

3. Connect a WiFi enabled device with the open WiFi network “ WiFi
Repeater ”. When using a Smartphone or tablet ensure that
option “Mobile Data” is deactivated.
4. Open Internet browser. The device should show that no Inter net
connection is available.

10. On the page “Repeater A ssistant” the WiFi Range Extender will
search for WiFi network s available in the vicinity. This may take a
moment.
11. After completion of the search selec t WiFi network to be
amplified by repeater.
The network is then shown under “Connec t to”.
12. Enter a new name for the WiFi network in field “SSID” generated
after successful installation of the WiFi Range Extender.
13. In field “WiFi key” enter WiFi security key of WiFi network to be
amplified by WiFi Range Extender (the password of your home
network). Generally the security key (password) can also be
found on the back of your router as WL AN key or WiFi key.
14. Compare password again. The WiFi Range Ex tender cannot
connec t to the network if an incorrect password has been
entered.
15. Click on “ Send” to transmit the data to the WiFi Range Extender.
16. After tr ansmission of the data the WiFi Range Extender will carry

When the device connects to the WiFi network for the first time,
the WiFi security key must be entered again.

The below instructions refer to an installation using the Android App.
The display on the iOS App can dif fer from the shown screen shots.
1. Install the free App “Maginon WiFi repeater” on your
Smartphone.
2. Plug the WiFi Range E xtender into a socket close to the router.
Ensure that repeater is in repeater mode. Switch on repeater and
open App.
3. Select WiFi Range Extender model (Fig. 1) to be installed and click
on “Continue”

10. Open the WiFi settings of your
Smartphone and connect to the WiFi
network created in section 5. Check
that you can access the Internet
from your mobile phone using the
new WiFi connection.
11. If no Internet reception is available,
please use the reset button of the
repeater and restart the installation.
Recheck the WiFi key of your home
network.
Set-up
The MAGINON WiF i Range Extender serves to extend the range
of your existing WL AN network . For this purpose, the WiFi Range
Extender is connected to the router of the WLAN by cable or wireless
and then carries out the function of transmitter and receiver for
other wireless systems. The device c an also be used as Access Point.
Prior to configuring the device as a WiFi Range
Extender, Client or Access Point, the default set tings
of the device have to be reinstated. Switch WiFi Range
Extender on using On/Off switch and press Reset
button for 10 seconds.

Set up as WiFi Range Extender
In its function as WiFi Range Extender the device extends the range
of your wireless net work. To set up the WiF i Range Extender proceed
as follows:
1. Set the mode selection switch to “AP/repeater ”.
2. Plug WiFi Range Extender into a mains socket.
3. Switch on repeater using the ON/OFF switch. The Power-LED is
on.
4. Connec t to you computer or notebook:
• Wireless: if you computer has a WLAN connection, click on the
Wireless connection symbol at the bottom right of your Desktop.
From the opening list connect “WiFi Repeater” and click on
“Connect”. The connection is set up after a few seconds.
• Cable connection: Plug the supplied network cable into the
computer and WiFi Range Extender.
5. Enter address http://192.168.10.1 in Browser to set up a
connec tion to the WiFi Range Extender.
If it is not possible to activate the WiFi Range Extender by entering
192.168.10.1 note the following information.
6. The window for connec ting to the WiFi Range Extender is open.
Selec t the desired language from the options. Enter the user
name and password.
The default settings or settings after re-installation of the WLAN
repeater are User name and Password “admin”. Please also read
section “Changing the password”.

7. At the top of the main menu click on “Repeater Assistant”.
8. All existing wireless networks are detected and listed. Select the
network to be connected to the WiFi Range Extender, clicking on
“S end ”.
9. Now enter the WiFi key (Security key) for the network. Leave
other par ameters unchanged. Click on “Send”. The name of the
network (SSID) and the network key must correspond to the
information saved in the WLAN router.
Once set up as a WiFi Range Extender, the device
can no longer be accessed on the computer via
http: // 192.168.10.1 as it is now part of the router
network.
