Macurco Weatherproof Housing Kit
WHK-1
GAS DETECTION
For monitoring gas concentrations in wash bays
Protection Mounted Gas Detection
The Macurco WHK-1 is a weatherproof enclosure that provides means to protection-mount all Macurco 6-Series gas detectors in non-hazardous locations. By weatherproofing a gas detector, the unit is able to monitor gas concentrations while being protected from falling debris and indirect spray. The Macurco WHK-1 is designed with sufficient airflow for effective gas detection through multiple vent plugs.

Installation
1. Remove clear cover from the enclosure by removing the 4 screws and remove the contents.
2. Place each of the 4 mounting screws in one of the shouldered
holes at the corners of the enclosure base.
3. Place the enclosure onto the wall to test for proper alignment.
4. Place the unit against the wall in its intended position.
5. Fasten the enclosure to the wall by installing the 4 mounting screws.
6. Run the wiring through the strain relief.
7. Connect the wiring according to the instructions provided for the detector.
8. Install the gas detector onto the top of the 4 standoffs. Secure it in place using the 4 remaining machine screws.
9. Twist the outer cap of the strain relief clockwise to compress the gasket material around the wiring.
10. Replace the cover and tighten the cover screws.
Application
The enclosure is constructed for either indoor or outdoor use to provide a degree of protection of the equipment inside the
enclosure against ingress of solid foreign objects (falling dirt and debris) and to provide a degree of protection with respect
to harmful effects on the equipment due to the ingress of water (light rain, spray, dripping and light splashing).
Nitrogen Dioxide
Nitrogen dioxide or NO
2 is a toxic chemical of concern in diesel exhaust. The higher average temperature of combustion of
diesel engines generates more nitrogen oxides than gasoline engines. At ordinary temperatures and atmospheric pressure, it is a reddish-brown gas with a characteristic sharp, biting odor. High concentrations of the oxides of nitrogen can cause headache, dizziness and loss of consciousness as well as pulmonary edema. Health concerns about diesel exhaust relate not only to as respiratory and heart diseases, but also to other health problems. Lung cancer is the major cancer thought to be linked to diesel exhaust. The Macurco TX-6-ND provides Nitrogen Dioxide detection and automatic exhaust fan control for parking garages, loading docks, truck and bus depots, firehouses, ambulance bays, warehouses and maintenance facilities. The TX-6-ND meets the requirements of the Uniform Building Code for enclosed garages and meets OSHA standards for Nitrogen Dioxide exposure. TX-6-ND can be used stand alone, with the Macurco DVP-120 Detection and Ventilation Control Panel, other 12 VAC or 24 VDC fire/security panels or building automation systems.
Carbon Monoxide
Carbon monoxide or CO is a poisonous gas responsible for hundreds of deaths and numerous non-fatal poisonings each year in the United States. It is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas that is produced as a by-product of incomplete combustion of carbon-based fuels such as natural gas, liquefied propane (LP) gas, kerosene, oil, gasoline, wood, or coal. The Macurco CM-6 provides CO detection and automatic exhaust fan control for automotive maintenance facilities, enclosed parking garages, utility rooms, warehouses and other commercial applications. The CM-6 meets the requirements of the Uniform Building Code for enclosed garages and meets OSHA standards for CO exposure. The CM-6 can be used stand alone, with the Macurco DVP-120 Detection and Ventilation Control Panel, other 12 VAC or 24 VDC fire/security panels or building automation systems.
