GRX-12VDC

12 Vdc Plug-In Class 2 Transformer

Description

The GRX-12VDC is a 12 Vdc Plug-In Class 2 Transformer that is
used in GRAFIK Eye 3000 systems when connecting more than three
Accessory Controls to a Control Unit or if your wiring length exceeds
1000 ft. between the GRAFIK Eye Control Unit and the third
Accessory Control. The GRX-12VDC is a regulated power supply
that is capable of supplying power to a maximum of 16 Accessory
Controls.

Lutron recommends these maximum distances from the GRX-12VDC
to the last (sixteenth) Accessory Control: 2000 ft. for #12 AWG and
575 ft. for #18 AWG. Allowable maximum distance depends on the
number of Accessory Controls in the system.

GRX-12VDC Power Supply

CAUTION!

■ The GRX-12VDC is designed for use with GRAFIK Eye 3000

Series systems only.

■ The GRX-12VDC is designed for residential and commercial

applications—indoor use only.

■ Lutron recommends that the GRX-12VDC be installed by a

qualified electrician.

■ Install in accordance with all applicable regulations.

Specifications

Power:

Input: 120 V, 60 Hz
Output: Regulated 12 Vdc, 9.5 W

System Wiring:

Low-voltage Class 2 4-wire daisy-chain of two #18 AWG wires and a
#18 AWG twisted, shielded pair (all four wires available in one cable
from Lutron, GRX-CBL-346S-500).

The GRX-12VDC connects directly to Class 2/PELV wiring.

Please refer to Application Note W14 for more information.

Installation

Warning: Always turn Off the circuit breaker
or remove the main fuse from the power line
before doing any work. Failure to do so can
result in serious personal injury.

All connections are made to the Class 2/PELV terminal blocks of the
Control Units and/or Accessory Controls.

1. Turn power Off.

2. Connect the black (common) wire of the GRX-12VDC to the

wire that runs from Terminal 1 of the Control Unit to Terminal 1
of the Accessory Control.

3. Connect the white-striped (12 Vdc) wire from the GRX-
12VDC to the wire that runs to Terminal 2 of the Accessory
Control. Do not connect the GRX-12VDC to Terminal 2 of

the Control Unit!

4. Connect the twisted pair from terminals 3 and 4 of the Control

Unit to terminals 3 and 4, respectively, of the Accessory Control.
Wire the remaining Accessory Controls in a standard daisy-chain
configuration (see Page 2). Do not connect the GRX-12VDC to
terminal 3 or 4!

5. Restore power to the GRAFIK Eye 3000 Series system and plug
the GRX-12VDC into the 120 V, 60 Hz power source.

WARRANTY

Lutron warrants each new unit to be free from defects in materials and workmanship and to perform under normal use
and service. This warranty shall run only for a period of one year from the date of purchase and Lutron's obligations
under this warranty are limited to remedying any defect or replacing any defective part and shall be effective only if the
defective unit is shipped to Lutron postage prepaid within 12 months after purchase. Damage due to abuse, misuse,
inadequate wiring or installation is not covered by this warranty.
In no event shall Lutron or any other seller be liable for any other loss or damage, including consequential or special
damages that may arise through the use by a purchaser or others of this device and the purchaser assumes and will
hold harmless Lutron in respect of all such loss.
