system arrives in perfect condition, so please enjoy the ultimate experience in underwater lighting.
Please read the following pages to ensure a complete understanding of the LUMISHORE LED lighting system before installation.
Adding underwater lighting to your vessel has never been easier. To mount a LUMISHORE Surface Mount e-lite underwater LED light, one small cable hole and three
mounting screws is all it takes. Compact, with a very slim profile and available in a wide variety of colours and power levels, the Surface Mount e-lite operates above or
below the water line, at your berth, on dock or underway, thanks to the LUMISHORE Active Thermal Rollback (ATRB) feature.
• Suitable for transom, hull -side, engine room, internal, and external mounting
• Corrosion-proof advanced aluminium, polymer coated over-molded body (bottom paint and bonding is not needed)
• Over voltage/current and reverse polarity protection
• LUMISHORE Active Thermal Rollback (ATRB) manages the light output depending on ambient temperatures
• 90° wide, even beam for superior underwater effects
• Bes t overall life: 50,000+ hours, approximately 20 years with normal use
Your box should contain the following items: One Surface Mount e-lite, three stainless steel Number 8 screws, and one Installation and Operating Guide.
If any items are missing, e-mail or call LUMISHORE using the contact information listed in Section 5 (Product Support) of this guide.
The light can be installed above or below the water line.
For best underwater illumination, LUMISHORE recommends installation 4” to 12” (10 0-300mm) below the water line.
Choose a location:
o The light must be mounted on a flat (not curved) surface. For underwater installs mount on transom or side hull only.
o A hole will be drilled to allow the cable to be inserted; care must be taken to ensure there is unrestricted access (including inside the hull for underwater
installation).
o When installing three or more lights, equal spacing 2.5’- 3’ is recommended to give a consistent light pool.
o The light is temperature sensitive and must not be located close to the exhaust outlet or other heat source.
o The e-lite series operates on both 12V and 24V DC systems; never connect a light directly to the mains AC voltage.
o Each light should be individually fused and the serial number recorded. Please use the tables below.

2.1 Materials:
3M 4200 sealant (or equivalent)
Philips type screwdriver
On/Off switch (breaker panel)
Waterproof connectors or soldering iron and heat shrink tubing
Rag(s) for cleanup
Drill and bits for cable and pilot hole screws:
2.2 Mounting:
1. Select a suitable flat surface that is accessible from behind and ensure the cable can be run without a problem.
IMPORTANT: The ‘LUMISHORE’ logo on the light must be positioned at the top when securing to the hull.
2. Drill the pilot and the power cable holes using the drill bits mentioned in Section 2.1.
3. Apply a single bead of sealant around the cable entry and screw holes.
4. Apply a continuous thick bead of sealant approximately 0.4” (10mm) from the edge of the light and around the cable. Refer to image below.
5. Push the power cable through the hole and align the light with the pilot hole screws.
6. Attach the light using the 3 stainless steel screws by hand tightening with a screwdriver.
IMPORTANT: Do Not Over Tighten
7. Use a damp cloth to wipe off excess sealant that was squeezed out around the light.
IMPORTANT: For underwater installation: Refer to the directions on the sealant to make sure it has fully cured before launching the boat into the water.
3.1 Selec ting cable gauge
Proper wire cable size must be considered when installing the lights.
Use the tables below to compute the gauge of the cable needed, noting current draw of each light at 12VDC or 24VDC.
Keep in mind cable lengths referenced in the Conductor Size tables are from the source to the lights and back to the source (twice the actual distance).
Two calculations:
1. Calculate the total current draw of all lights connected to the terminal strip. Then use the table to calculate the cable size needed from the source to the junction box.
2. If the cable supplied on the light is not long enough. Use the calculation table to compute the gauge of the cable needed for each light.

3.2 Light Connections
Each light is supplied with 6.5 Feet of 18-gauge cable and should be connected to a terminal strip.
The light cable maybe connected to a larger gauge cable, however care must be taken when making the connections to protect from corrosion.
When connecting the light cable larger gauge cable, LUMISHORE recommends soldering and heat shrinking the wires together or using a terminal strip with
proper size connectors.
A Single Pole Single Throw (SPST) switch (not supplied) may be installed so the lights may be turned ON or OFF at a convienent location. Refer to Section 3.4 for
recommended switch wiring.
3.3 Optional RM-12 wireless remote light controller
When installed, the RM-12 allows the lights to be turned ON or OFF with the click of a button on the remote. This accessory contains 2 wireless remotes and a 12VDC only
(cannot be used on 24V systems) wireless receiver rela y box which is sealed; do not attempt to open. The replacement battery type for the wireless remote is
VR22/CN22/CN32A or equivalent. For installation refer to section 3.4.
