AERIAL ADAPTOR

FOREWARD.

The EX173 adaptor enables you to place the RX16 receiver in the most convenient position for
connecting the relay outputs to the matrix without compromising radio signal strength.
The RX16 tuner module can be placed on the outside of a building where it can benefit from the best
signal strength. The data output is then taken to the RX16 via alarm cable or twisted pair.

STEP 1.

Fit the EX173 to an outside wall where it can get good reception from all the PIR’s. Make sure that the
screw fixing holes are sealed with a suitable silicone sealant to avoid water ingress.

STEP 2.

Unplug the RX16 tuner module and take it to the EX173 enclosure. Unplug the adaptor board from the
base board and replace it with the tuner module.
Plug the adaptor board on to the RX16 receiver in the position where you took the tuner module from.

STEP 3.

Using alarm cable or twisted pair data cable, wire from the EX173 to the RX16 adaptor board as shown.

STEP 4.
Now fit the aerial to the BNC aerial socket on the EX173 and NOT the RX16.

The data cable carries 12 volts from the RX16 to power the EX173 and takes data from the EX173 back
to the RX16.
