ESB-1 WIRELESS BLEEPER

Installation & operating instructions

INTRODUCTION

The ESB-1 plug in bleeper is intended for indoor use only and works in conjunction with any
of the easyswitch transmitters. EST-1. ESF-1,2&4. ESD-1,2&3.
The ESB-1 is mainly used with an ESD PIR detector to provide an audible warning when a
person or vehicle enters a detected area.
When used with an ESD PIR detector, there are three modes to choose from.
Day and Night, Day only, Night only.
The PIR detector sends coded information to the ESB-1 bleeper that informs it whether it is
day or night.

Learning the code.

STEP1. Press the LEARN button at the base of the ESB-1. The learn LED will light.

STEP2 A. Connect a PP3 battery to the PIR detector which causes it to transmit briefly.

If the battery was already connected, simply pass your hand in front of the
detector to make it transmit.

B Alternatively, to learn a wall switch or key fob, operate the switch or key fob

button that is to work with this bleeper.
The learn LED will flash and go out indicating that the code has been learnt.
STEP3. Operate the switch or activate the PIR again and the bleeper will sound.
STEP4. Carry out range testing.

Range testing.

Do not fit the PIR detector permanently in position until a range test has been successfully
completed.
Plug the bleeper into a mains wall socket where you will be able to hear it clearly.
Now take the PIR detector or key fob to the place where it is to be used. With a PIR
detector, hold it against the wall and wave your hand in front of it while listening out for the
bleeper. The bleeper should sound for about five seconds. If the range is poor, refer to the
AERIAL section.

Mode selection.

The ESB-1 has three modes to choose from and these are selected by unscrewing the four
screws at the back of the bleeper and selecting with the two switches as shown.

Mode A DAY and NIGHT operation.

Aerial.

To achieve the best range results you will need to fit the ESB where it has the least amount of
obstacles between it and the transmitter. The aerial wire should be vertical and the higher
the bleeper is placed above ground level the greater the range will be. The same applies to
the transmitter. Do not fit the receiver on or in metal objects as this will seriously affect
range. Keep cables away from the aerial. With a clear line of site and with both the
transmitter and ESB at 2 metres high, transmission ranges of up to 250 metres are possible.

Set-up notes.

1. The bleeper can learn up to 16 PIR detectors, switches and key fobs

2. The bleeper will retain the learned codes even if the power is removed

3. To flush the memory, simply press and hold the learn button until the led goes off. This

takes about 5 seconds.
