Before using the cordless phone
Before using the cordless phone
You must perform the following operations before attempting to use the WT9001 cordless phone.
Charge (or recharge) the battery pack
The WT9001 cordless phone is supplied with a rechargeable battery pack and charger unit. To charge the battery pack:
Remove the back cover of the cordless phone.
Insert the supplied battery pack in its housing as indicated.
Replace the back cover and snap firmly into place.
Place the cordless phone on the charger unit, with the keypad facing you.
Plug the charger unit in a 220/230V-50Hz wall socket.
The battery pack should remain at least twelve hours on the charger unit. When fully charged, the message “100%” is displayed.

To register the cordless phone, see the Installation manual.
Check the quality of the radio link
The WT9001 cordless phone automatically measures the quality of the radio link. To make sure that you are within range of a base station and that your cordless phone is successfully registered, you may view the quality of the radio link as follows:

Use your personal directory (telephone feature)
To place a call to an outside party whose telephone number is stored in your personal direc­tory:
Press the ON/OFF HOOK button.
Press the AD button.
Enter the appropriate AD number (from P01 to P21) or press the Previous or Next but- ton to view the entries one by one.
When the requested name is displayed, press the OK button to place the call.
Redial the last number dialed (telephone feature)
Your cordless phone automatically stores the last three outside numbers you dialed. When the outside number you are calling is busy or unanswered, you may continue to dial the number:
Press the Redial button as many times as necessary to select the appropriate telephone number .
Press the ON/OFF HOOK button when the appropriate number is displayed.
Note: You may also s witch on your cordless phone first, then select the appropriate number by pressing the Redial but-
ton.

Send a message to an outside party (ISDN service)
When the outside number you are calling is busy or unanswered, you may send one of the following:

Answer a call
Press the ON/OFF HOOK button or remove the cordless phone from the charger unit.
Note: When receiving a trunk call, the display shows either the calling party’s name (if stored into the DECT 12 direc-
tory) or the calling party’s number (caller identification sent by the network) or the message “TEL NO UNKNOWN”.
Play a voice message
If your telephone system is equipped with a voice messaging system, y our callers are ab le to record messages in your voice mailbox. To play the recorded messages:
Press the ON/OFF HOOK button.
Dial the Voice mail access code (P471 to P478).
Answer a paging announcement
Press the ON/OFF HOOK button.
Dial the Answer-back access code (P60).
Note: You have 2 minutes to answer a paging announcement.

Place a call on hold (ISDN service)
You may place a call on hold anytime you have to interrupt the conversation to answer another call, place a new call or perform some other task. You have to place the call on hold before transferring it.

Return to the call on hold (ISDN service)
Press the R button.
Speak to two parties in turn (ISDN service)
When you answ er or place a new call while active on another, you may speak to the two par­ties in turn.
Press the R button twice.
Set up a three-party conference call (ISDN service)
You may add a call you have placed on hold to another call you are connected to and thus establish a three-party conversation.
Press the R button to place the current call on hold.
Dial the dial-out code (0) if the new party is an outside party.
Dial the telephone number of the new party and wait for an answer.
Press the Previous or Next button to select the «Conf» feature.

Press the OK button to activate the feature. To end a conference call:
Press the ON/OFF HOOK button.
Transfer a call (ISDN service)
To send the present call from your phone to an extension or outside number:
Press the R button to place the current call on hold.
Dial the dial-out code (0) if the call is to be transferred to an outside number.
Dial the number where the call is to be transferred and wait for an answer.
Press the Previous or Next button to select the «Transfer» feature.

While conversing, you may store y our caller’s telephone number in order to call him/her back later.
Press the Previous or Next button to select the «Note» feature.

Microphone muting (telephone feature)
You may switch off the microphone in the cordless phone so the other person on the call can­not hear you.
Press the Menu button.
Press 0.
To switch the microphone on again, repeat the above steps.
Adjust the receiver volume (telephone feature)
To increase the receiver volume:
Press the Menu button.
Press #.
VOLUME STANDARD VOLUME HIGH
To lower the receiver volume, repeat the above steps.
Note: The factory setting is standard.
Be notified of a waiting call (ISDN service)
While connected to a party, you may be notified of a waiting call by a specific tone.
To answer the new call

Press the OK button to confirm. You are now connected to the second caller, while the first party is placed on hold.
