Recessed steel backbox

Backbox for recessed installation in ceiling or wall features torsion spring receptacles to accept an 8” speaker
mounted to Lowell torsion grille Model No. FW-8T (order
separately).
Construction & Features
• Precision formed from a single piece of 20-gauge steel.
• 11.75” square x 4” deep
• 5” to .75” knockouts for conduit
• Two sides have parallel slots 1.25”L on 8” centers to
facilitate depth adjustment in surfaces that vary in material, depth or evenness. Slots may also be used to
attach channel rails for suspended tile ceilings (order
separately).
• Torsion spring receptacles are welded inside on parallel sides to insert and retain torsion spring device that
mounts the speaker/torsion grille assembly. The torsion
spring mounting method is ideal for a visibly hardware
free appearance of a speaker/transformer/grille assembly that weighs less than 3.5 pounds.
• Includes undercoating and a foam pad to eliminate
acoustic and mechanical resonance.
• Black powder epoxy finish
• Made in U.S.A. with certified U.S. steel
knockouts for conduit on four sides and slots for depth
adjustment on two sides. It shall include welded torsion
spring receptacles for installation of Lowell torsion grille
Model FW-8T (ordered separately). The total weight of
the speaker/transformer assembly used with the torsion
grille shall not exceed 3.5 lbs.

A & E Specifications
The backbox for recessed installation of 8” speakers shall
be Lowell Model RE1175-T. It shall measure 11.75”Sq
x 4”D and be formed from 20-gauge steel, welded and
finished in black powder epoxy paint. It shall be undercoated and include a foam pad. It shall feature .5” –.75”
