Lowell 8PSBX Specifications
Description
Lowell's conically shaped backbox Model 8PSBX is engineered to accommodate an 8" speaker in either new or
existing construction. The slightly tapered, conical shape
allows this backbox to be stacked for space efficient storage
and transit. Popular series mounts a wide selection of Lowell
grilles and mounting accessories (see page 2).
Model 8PSBX is molded high density Tnite® Polypropylene
plastic. This provides lightweight, economical and rust resistant perofrmance. The natural acoustic properties of plastic
combine with engineered ribs on the interior of the backbox
to provide effective resonance and vibration control. It is furnished with factory installed 8-32 screw retaining clips for
grille mounting and includes four pre-molded thin-wall knockouts which may be easily drilled to permit conduit entry. To
facilitate mounting in suspended ceiling construction, Model
8PSBX may be used with Lowell tile bridge Models LBS8 or
LBS8-R1. The standard factory color is black.

The recessed backbox for 8" speaker drivers shall be conically shaped Lowell Model 8PSBX. Backbox shall be injection molded 0.125in thick high density Tenite® Plypropylene
plastic and shall be furnished with four pre-molded thin-wall
knockouts spaced at 90 degree intervals which shall permit
conduit entry. The backbox shall incorporate a ribbed interi-

or framework to provide resonance and vibration control.
The backbox shall be cylindrical in shape and shall have a
depth of 4". The grille mounting flange shall have eight
0.218" diameter holes spaced at 45 degree intervals and
shall maintain factory installed 8-32 screw retaining clips in
four places spaced at 90 degree intervals. The diameter of
the grille mounting bolt circle shall be 11.25" to accept the
specified grille. The backbox shall be black in color. The
backbox shall mount grille Model ____. The backbox speci-

Note: Conical shape of the stacking 8SPBX backbox will not accept a driver with a magnet weight greater than 10 ounces and a mounted transformer with taps greater than 8-watts.
