Connecting the Footswitch
Every unit of the "Lovell Stage 20 Triple" amplifiers comes with a dual footswitch. To use, connect this device to the
Footswitch jack located on the top left of the front panel.
The left button is used to switch between channels and and the left indicator light illuminates when the amplifier is
switched to Channel 2 (lower controls). The right footswitch
button is used to activate the effects loop when the
relevant channel´s effects loop function switch is in the
central position. The right indicator light illumintes when the
Effects Loop footswitch button is in the active position.

Channels 1 & 2
Both channels 1 & 2 have a full complement of tonal controls - Gain and Master, Bass, Mids Treble, Presence and Reverb.
Channel & Voice Switches
Each channel of the Stage 20 Triple has a 3 position Voice switch. Using
these switches, the user can select from clean, classic crunch or high gain
voicings, thus programming the amplfier to be a 2 channel clean amp, or
crunch and high gain, or 2 high gain channels or any configuration desired! Voice switches: To the left - Clean.
Center - Classic Crunch.
To the right: High gain.
Channel switch: Up: Channel 1 is active. Down: Channel 2 is active.
Gain: Controls the signal level, or
level of saturation of the channel. Master: Controls the overall volume
of the channel. Bass: Increases or decreases
the bass response. Mids: Increases or decreases
the mid response. Treble: Increases or decreases
the treble response. Presence: Increases or
decreases the ´Presence´,
or high endresponse of the
power stage Reverb: Controls the amount of
reverb mixed with the signal.

Effects Loop
The Effects Loop of the Stage 20 Triple is more versatile than just about any other effcts loop that we know of and has
features that are unique to Lovell amplifiers. With the two Loop Function Switches, the loop can be programmed to switch
itself on or off while switching to either channel. Or, it can be as well programmed to be controlled independently via the
second footswitch button for either channel. Boost mode: When nothing is plugged into the Return Jack, the jack is earthed internally. This means that there is "zero"
signal presented to the return part of the loop circuit. When the loop is switched on in this condition, we can mix the "zero"
signal with the dry signal thus achieving a reduction in volume without changing the tone. With the Blend control all the way
anti-clockwise, there is 0% ("zero") of the signal and 100% dry signal; therefore no attenuation. With the belnd knob in the
center position, there is a 50/50 mix, and therefore a 50% reduction of the dry signal. When the loop is switched off, the
level returns to 100% of the channels level setting, acting as a "boost".
Front Panel
Ch1 Loop Function Switch: The upper position will switch on the loop when channel 1 is selected.
In the centre position the loop can be switched on and off via the second footswitch button. The down position will switch
off the loop automatically when channel 1 is selected. Ch2 Loop Function Switch: The upper position will switch on the loop
when channel 2 is selected. In the center position the loop can be
switched on and off via the second footswitch button. The down
position will switch off the loop when channel 2 is selected.
Loop Function Indicator: Illuminates when Loop is active.
Rear Panel
Send Jack: Use this jack to "send" the pre amp signal to any effects
unit or pedal. Return Jack: Conect the "output" signal from the effects unit or pedal
here to mix with the pre amp signal. Blend Control: This knob controls the mix between the signal returning
from the effect (wet) and the original signal (dry).
Full anticlockwise: 0% wet signal, 100% dry signal.
Center: 50% wet signal, 50% dry signal.
Full clockwise: 100% Wet signal, 0% dry signal.

Connecting the speaker
The Stage 20 Triple has one speaker out jack, and an impedance selector. It is very important that the impedance selected
matches that of the speaker connected. Incorrectly setting the impedance may result in damage to the amplifier!

Operation
Loop
The Impedance Selector has 3 settings: 4, 8 and 16 ohms,
allowing the amplifier to be matched with almost any
standard speaker cabinet, or array of cabinets.
A proper speaker cable must be used to connect the
amplifer to the speaker.

Connecting to Mains
The Stage 20 Triple is designed to be connected to 110 to 120VAC, using a standard IEC C13 connector.
When switching on the amplifier it is important to follow these steps:
1. Ensure the Power and Standby switches are both in the down (off) position.
2. Ensure the amplifier is connected to a speaker cabinet and the impedence selector is correctly matched. to
the speaker load.
3. Connect the amplfier to mains using a standard IEC C13 type connector.
4. Switch the Main Power Switch on and ensure the Power indicator light illuminates.
5. Wait approxmately 30 seconds for the tubes to warm up. No further waiting time should be required under
normal circumstances
6. Switch the Standby switch to the upper position when ready to use.
When switching off the amplifier it is important to follow these steps:
1. Switch the Standby switch to the downer position.
2. Wait 10 to 30 seconds and switch the Main Power switch to the downer (off) position.
3. Wait 30 seconds for the tubes to cool before moving the amplifier.
Fuse
In case that the fuse should require replacing, use a M205 1.5 Ampere "Fast Blow" type. If the Fuse burns out a second
time the amplifier must be serviced by a qualified technician.

Tube configuration
Pre amp tubes
The Stage 20 has 2 x JJ ECC83 (12AX7) pre amp tubes, and 1 x ECC803 tube as the phase splitter.
The ECC803 is a "long plate" version of the ECC83, and in this position it provides a stronger, more detailed
and more controlled bass response.
Power tubes
The Stage 20 Triple has a pair of fixed-bias 6L6GC power tubes, with a power output of 20 Watts RMS.
We use the traditional method of measuring power output, measuring maximum clean signal at the speaker.
Tube replacement
Depending on how frequently and how loud the amplifier is played, tube life can vary greatly. Generally, pre amp tubes
last for many many years, although it is recommended to replace them once every 4 years, or as soon as a drop in
performance is noted.
Power tubes normally require replacement every year, or as soon as a drop in performance is noted. The power tubes
must always be replaced with a matched pair, and the bias must be set each time by a qualified technician.
