3.0 Hardware Installation
1. Locate your notebook’s PC Card slot(s).
2. With your notebook on, insert the PC Card into the unused PC Card bus slot of
your system.
3. Make sure it is inserted all the way in for a solid connection.
3.1 Driver Installation
For Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/7 –
Once the Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista and 7 startup, USB 2.0 PC Card
will be installed automatically without driver installing.
1. Windows OS automatically installs the correct driver.
2. After installs, the computer will show the message ‘found a new USB device’, and
then new ‘Generic USB Hub’ will be displayed.
3. Now, the PC Card PC0040 is ready to use.
Important:
If your system doesn’t boot to Windows properly with our card installed, check
with your system’s manufacturer for the latest system firmware update.
Caution:
Do not plug any devices into the PC Card until you have completely finished the
driver installation.
3.2 Verify Proper Installation
Check the ‘’Windows Device Manager” to confirm that your PC Card has been
properly installed.
1. Right-click on ‘’My Computer” and select ‘’Manage”.
2. Select the ‘’Device Manager’’ Tab.
3. Click the (+) plus sign in front of Universal Serial Bus Controllers, and one
‘Generic USB 2.0 Hub’ should be displayed.
3.3 Inserting/Removing Devices
When inserting/removing your printer device, hold the PC Card and make sure it
does not move around inside the slot, otherwise, the PC Card may loose connection
or should be ejected from the system.

4.0 Trouble Shooting
4.1 The PC Card and devices connected to the computer do not work
properly
Please do the following:
1. Check the all the cables you are using are the correct types, and that they are all
securely connected.
2. Make sure all devices are powered on and connected to the proper power supply
and source.
3. Reconnect daisy-chained devices you may have disconnected for installation. If
reconnecting does not clear up problem, restart your computer.
4. Make sure you have properly installed the PC Card.
4.2 The computer did not detect the PC Card
1. Make sure that the PC Card is correctly plugged into the PC Card slot; if not, plug
it in securely.
2. If the PC Card is plugged in correctly, see if its gold connectors are clean; if not,
clean the surface of the connector.
3. Follow the procedure on page 3, titled “Verifying Proper Installation”. If the PC
Card designation “Universal Serial Bus controllers, One USB PC Card Port” did
not appear in the Device Manager, update your computer BIOS to the latest
version. If after updating your BIOS, your computer still does not detect the PC
Card, contact your computer manufacturer for advanced support for BIOS.
4.3 Cannot install the PC Card driver
Ensure your Microsoft Windows operating system is upgraded to the latest “Service
Pack” (please check the Microsoft website). It is highly recommended that you
update your system to Windows 2000 service pack 4, Windows XP service pack 2,
Windows Server 2003 service pack 1 and Windows 7 (or later).
The CE mark confirmed that this product meets the main requirements of
the Directive 2004/108/EC of the European Parliament and the Council of
Europe concerning telecommunications and terminals regarding the
Safety and health of users and of electro-magnetic interference

3.0 Hardware Installation
Nachfolgend erhalten Sie generelle Installationsanweisungen für die PC0040.
Sofern spezielle Besonderheiten bei Ihrem System zu beachten sind, beziehen Sie
sich auf die entsprechenden Handbücher Ihres Systems.
3.1 Hardware Installation
1. Sie benötigen einen freien PC Card Slot.
2. Schalten Sie Ihr Notebook ein und verbinden Sie die PC0040 mit dem freien PC
Card Slot.
3. Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Karte ordnungsgemäß im Slot sitzt.

3.2 Treiber Installation
Windows 2000/2003/XP/Vista und 7 installieren automatisch die entsprechenden
Treiber für die PC0040.
1. Die Treiber werden automatisch von Windows installiert.
2. Während der Installation wird ein „found a new USB device“ und nach Abschluss
der Installation wird ein „Generic USB Hub“ angezeigt.
3. Die PC0040 kann nun verwendet werden.
Hinweis:
Sollte Ihr PC nach der Installation der PC0040 nicht mehr starten, fragen Sie Ihren
Mainboardhersteller nach einem Firmware und/oder BIOS-Update.
ACHTUNG:
Verbinden Sie keine Geräte mit der PC0040, solange die Treiber Installation nicht
komplett abgeschlossen ist.
3.3 Installationskontrolle
Prüfen Sie im Windows Gerätemanager ob die PC0040 ordnungsgemäß installiert
wurde.
1. Rechtsklick auf Arbeitsplatz - Eigenschaften
2. Reiter Hardware - Gerätemanager
3. Klicken Sie das (+) Zeichen vor dem Eintrag „USB-Controller“. Dort sollte
folgender Eintrag zu lesen sein: „Generic USB 2.0 Hub”.
3.4 Verbinden/Trennen von Geräten mit der PC0040
Wenn Sie Firewire Geräte mit der PC0040 verbinden/trennen, sollten Sie die Karte
festhalten, so das diese weiterhin fest mit dem Slot verbunden bleibt. Ansonsten
kann die Verbindung getrennt oder die Karte vom System ausgeworfen werden.
4.0 Fehlerbehebung
4.1 PC Card wird nicht vom PC erkannt
1. Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Karte ordnungsgemäß mit einem PC Card Slot
verbunden ist.
2. Sofern die Karte korrekt verbunden ist, prüfen Sie ob der goldene Steckkontakt
verschmutzt ist und reinigen Sie diesen ggf.
3. Beachten sie die Installationskontrolle unter Kapitel 3.3.
4. Sollte der Eintrag „Generic USB 2.0 Hub” nicht im Gerätemanager erscheinen,
sollten Sie das BIOS Ihres PC’s aktualisieren. Wird die PC0040 nach dem BIOS
Update wiederum nicht erkannt, wenden Sie sich an den PC oder
Mainboardhersteller für weitergehende Unterstützung.
4.2 Treiber können nicht installiert werden
Die PC0040 kann nur unter Windows 2000 SP4, Windows XP SP2, Windows Server
2003 SP1 und Windows 7 (oder höher) eingesetzt werden. Stellen Sie sicher, dass
eines der genannten Service Packs installiert ist.
Aktuelle Service Packs erhalten Sie auf der Microsoft Webseite.
4.3 PC0040 und angeschlossene Geräte funktionieren nicht
1. Stellen Sie sicher, dass Sie die richtigen Kabel verwenden und diese
ordnungsgemäß funktionieren und korrekt verbunden sind.
2. Stellen Sie sicher, dass angeschlossene Geräte angeschaltet und mit dem
entsprechenden Netzadapter verbunden sind.
3. Verbinden Sie für die Installation getrennte Geräte (Daisy Chain) wieder mit Ihrem
PC. Sollte das erneute Verbinden das Problem nicht beheben, starten Sie Ihren
PC neu.
4. Stellen Sie sicher, dass die PC0040 ordnungsgemäß installiert wurde.
Das CE-Zeichen bestätigt, dass dieses Produkt die Hauptanforderungen der

4.0 Wykrywanie i rozwiązywanie problemów
4.1 Karta PC Card oraz urządzenia podłączone do komputera nie
działają prawidłowo.
Należy wykonać następujące czynności:
1. Sprawdzić czy wszystkie kable podłączone do urządzeń są odpowiedniego typu
oraz czy są bezpiecznie podłączone.
2. Sprawdzić czy wszystkie urządzenia są podłączone do odpowiedniego zasilania
oraz gniazda.
3. Odłączyć i podłączyć ponownie wszystkie urządzenia w połączeniu szeregowym,
które mogły się odłączyć podczas instalacji. Jeśli ponownie podłączenie nie
przyniosło żądanego rezultatu, należy ponownie uruchomić komputer.
4. Sprawdzić czy karta PC Card została prawidłowo zainstalowana.
4.2 Komputer nie wykrył podłączonej karty PC Card
1. Sprawdzić, czy karta PC Card jest podłączona do slotu PC Card, jeśli nie,
podłączyć.
2. Jeśli karta PC Card jest podłączona prawidłowo, sprawdzić czy złote styki są
czyste; jeśli nie, oczyścić powierzchnię złotych styków.
3. Postępować zgodnie z procedurą przedstawioną na stronie 3 w części pt.
„Sprawdzenie poprawności przeprowadzonej instalacji” Jeśli miejsce karty PC
Card „Kontrolery uniwersalnej magistrali szeregowej, Port USB karty Express
Card” nie pojawia się w Menedżer Urządzeń należy uaktualnić BIOS komputera
do najnowszej wersji. Jeśli po aktualizacji systemu BIOS komputer nadal nie
wykrywa podłączonej karty PC Card, należy skontaktować się z producentem
komputera w celu uzyskania dalszej pomocy w zakresie dostosowania systemu
BIOS.
4.3 Instalacja sterowników do karty PC Card nie udaje się
Sprawdzić czy system operacyjny jest zaktualizowany do najnowszej wersji Service
Pack (na stronie internetowej Microsoft) Zaleca się aktualizację systemów: Windows
2000 do server pack 4, Windows XP do service pack 2, lub Windows Server 2003 do
service pack 1 (lub wyższych).
