Preparation Before Installation

RIGHT OUTWARD
RIGHT INWARD
LEFT OUTWARD
LEFT INWARD
Prior to installing the door lock, you need to determine the opening direction of the door, as there are some adjustments that may need to be made to the lock body, door handle orientation and the spindle rotation direction. Don’t worry if you get it wrong, as it’s easy enough to remove the lock from the door and re-adjust, if necessary.

Determine Door Opening Direction

There are four possible opening directions of a door. In our case, we want to view the door from the outside, looking in, and use this as our reference point for determining the opening direction.
The first two diagrams, then, are with the door with the hinge on the RIGHT side as we look inwards. The opening directions are Right Outward and Right Inward, respectively.
The next two diagrams have the hinge on the LEFT side. The opening directions are Left Outward and Left Inward, respectively.
Once you’ve determined which direction your door is opening, proceed to make adjustments to the door mechanisms.
6

Lock Body Adjustment

Having determined the door opening direction, we first need to adjust the direction of the door latch on the lock body, so that it will engage correctly when the door closes.
The rule of thumb here is quite simple. Simply rotate the door latch so that its bevel (curved bit) points in the direction of the door frame, once it is fitted into the door. The following procedure outlines how to do this:
1) Pull up the Rotate Switch, which will release the door latch, enabling you to rotate it.
2) Pull the door latch out and rotate it 180 degrees, as shown, making sure the bevel (curved bit) points towards the door frame.
3) Push the door latch back in and release the Rotate Switch.
7

Door Handle Orientation

Depending on the door opening direction, you may need to rotate the handles on the front and rear plates of the door unit. The procedure below explains how to do this.
1) Using a Philips screwdriver, remove the screw holding the handle in place, as shown.
2) Rotate the handle 180 degrees clockwise and tighten the screw again.
3) Rotate the handle to check it works normally.
4) Repeat the above for the other side (inside door unit).
8

Adjust Spindle Clutch

Finally, we need to adjust the spindle clutch on the Front Panel, according to the door opening direction.
Marked on this clutch are the letters L (for Left) and R (for Right). These letters correspond with a Left Inward/Outward opening door and a Right Inward/Outward opening door respectively.
At the bottom of the clutch is a triangle marker which the letters need to be lined up with to apply the correct setting.
Rotate this clutch, using a pair of pliers, until the correct letter lines up with this marker. This will ensure that when you rotate the handle, the locking mechanism will move the bolts as expected when engaged.
Note: If, after you have fitted the door unit, the bolts do not engage when locking, then this clutch has not been set correctly and needs to be adjusted again.

Adding the Device to the Smart Home Network

Device Category:
Smart Lock
Device Name:
Bern Serial IoT Doorlock
Use the Logika Smart Home app to add the device to the Smart Home system. Please refer to the Logika Smart Mobile App user guide which will take you through the process of adding smart devices to the system.
Refer to the information below to locate the device in the Device Add screen. Once selected, the app will walk you through how to add the device to the system.
Note: The default admin passcode is 123456. Enter this on the keypad when requested, followed by the # key.
If this code does not work, you may need to perform a factory reset. This can be done by pressing the Factory Reset button, the hole for which is located below the battery compartment. You will need a small pin or paperclip to reach the button and keep it pressed it for 10 seconds.

Set Always-Open (Unlocked) Mode

This setting disables the security on the door lock, so that anyone can gain access without having to type a passcode, use fingerprint identification or NFC card.
To disable this, after it’s been set, simply enter your passcode, fingerprint or NFC card.

Enable Double Authentication

This can be enabled to force each user to use two methods of authentication before they gain access. For instance, they would need to enter a passcode and fingerprint, fingerprint + NFC card or NFC card + passcode.

Enable Dual-User Authentication

In this mode, two users must authenticate before access is granted. Once the first user is authenticated, the second user must do the same, with their passcode/fingerprint/NFC card within 10 seconds.

Troubleshooting

Micro-USB Socket

You are unable to log in using the default admin passcode after first install, or you have forgotten the password.

You need to perform a Factory Reset on the device to restore the factory settings. Note that you will also lose all user codes/fingerprints as a result, so make sure you really want to do this.
The Factory Reset button can be located below the battery compartment (You will need to remove the battery cover to reveal the hole which houses the button). Using a pin or paperclip, insert it into the hole and press the button for 10 seconds. An audible notification will be heard when the reset has completed.
The default passcode now is 123456.

The door fails to respond to user interaction.

In this case, you may need to perform a soft reset of the system. All settings will be retained. All that is happening here is that the door lock firmware is rebooted.
To do this, press the Reset button located near the Factory Reset button.

The door fails to lock on turning the handle or fails to engage the bolts.

The spindle turn direction may have been set incorrectly. You will need to remove the lock from the door and rotate the clutch on the Front Plate, as explained in Adjust Spindle Clutch on page 9.

The battery voltage is too low, and you can’t get access as a result.

During normal operation, if the batteries begin to run low on power (below 4.8v) you will hear a voice stating “Low battery. Replace battery.” each time you interact with the door.
If the power is too low, the lock will stop functioning. In this case, you can either:
a) Supply emergency power via the micro-USB socket on the bottom of the front door lock unit
(A USB battery charger, for instance), or
b) Use one of the supplied keys and insert this into the keyhole on the bottom of the lock. Turn
and hold this key in the unlock position and turn the handle at the same time to unlock.
