Battery Installation for the Remote Control
1. Press down of the compartment cover, and slide the cover o open the compartment. Place the one accessory CR2032 battery in the remote control according to the polarity markings (“+” and “–”) inside the compartment and on the battery.
2. Place the cover into the compartment, press down lightly, and push it inside until it snaps on.

Handling the Batteries
• Improper or incorrect use of batteries may cause corrosion or battery leakage, which could cause re, personal injury or damage to property.
• Only use the battery type indicated in this manual.
• When the battery is exhausted, the remote control will not function. Replace the battery
at the same time with new ones.
• Do not install new batteries with used ones and do not mix dierent types of batteries.
• Do not dispose of used batteries as domestic waste. Dispose of them in accordance with
local regulations.
Handling the Remote Control
• Take care of your ngernails when you press and hold the battery release tab.
• Do not drop or cause impact to the remote control.
• Do not spill water or any liquid on the remote control.
• Do not place the remote control on a wet object.
• Do not place the remote control under direct sunlight or near sources of excessive heat.

Connect the mains cable at the rear of the main unit to the mains socket.

Using Earphones
Connect earphones (Ø3.5mm stereo mini plug) to the earphone socket. Adjust the volume control to obtain the desired volume level.
When the earphones are connected, the speakers will automatically mute.

Selecting Modes
Press the CD/DAB/FM button repeatedly to switch between modes (CD/DAB/FM).
Adjusting the Volume
Turn the VOL/SKIP/SELECT control on the unit or press the VOLUME buttons on the remote control to increase/decrease the volume.
Mute Function (Remote Control Only)
Press the MUTE button on the remote control to temporarily stop the speakers emitting sound. The display will show “MUTE” and ash. To cancel mute and restore the sound, press the MUTE button again or the VOLUME buttons, the “MUTE” will disappear from the display.
Setting the Time

When you rst turn on your radio it will automatically set the time by searching out the DAB signal. It will continue to search for the clock whilst in DAB mode until it has managed to set the time. If after 10 minutes the clock has not automatically set itself try repositioning the radio to get a better reception.
If the radio cannot nd a DAB frequency to set the clock, you can use the FM mode (some FM stations also transmit time and date information).
Alarm Clock and the Wake-up Mode Settings
This unit incorporates an identical Dual Alarm function. You can have two individual alarm wake-up time and wake-up mode settings to wake you with a buzzer tone, your favourite radio station or your favourite CD.

Activating the Alarm Function and Selecting the Wake-up Mode
1. To activate the alarm function, press the ALARM 1 or 2 button repeatedly to select the wake-up mode, the corresponding wake-up mode will change in sequence on every press as follows:

Snooze Function
When the alarm sounds, press the SNOOZE button to temporarily switch o the alarm for 5 minutes. The LCD display will show “ ” to indicate that snooze is on. Snooze function will continue for 1 hour from the set alarm time. If alarm 2 is due to go o within 1 hour of alarm 1, it will not activate until alarm 1 has been switched o. If alarm 1 has been switched o then alarm 2 will be activated.

This function allows you to program the unit to switch o by itself after a set period of time.
1. To activate the sleep function, press the SLEEP button repeatedly. The time will change in the below sequence on every press:

System Reset
When you move the unit to another part of the country, your pre-tuned and stored DAB stations may no longer be available and you might need to reset the unit back to its original factory settings. To perform a factory reset, please do the following:

DAB Operation
If the unit is connected to the mains power and then switched on from standby for the rst time, the unit will automatically enter into DAB mode and perform the auto scan function. During the scan the LCD display will show “Scanning …” together with a slide bar that indicates the progress of the scan and the amount of stations that have been found so far.
Once the scan has nished, the unit will select the last alphanumerically found station. To explore the found stations, press the JOG MODE button and then turn

that you would like to listen to, press the SELECT button.
If no stations are found after auto scan, “NO station available” will show on the LCD display.
DAB Auto Scan
The auto scan will search for the entire DAB Band III channels. After the scan has nished, the last alphanumerically found station will be automatically selected.

Full auto scan will not replace the DAB stations in the memory. If you want to remove all the previously scanned stations, you will need to reset the system.
1. To activate auto scan, rst press the MENU button to enter the Tune Select Menu. Press the SKIP/SELECT buttons on the remote control to select “Full scan“, then press the SELECT
button to conrm. The display will show “Scanning …” and
a slide bar that indicates the progress of the scan.
2. All the stations that have been found will be stored automatically, to explore the found stations, press the JOG MODE button and then turn the control on the unit. Press the SELECT button to conrm.

Secondary Services
You may see a “ ” symbol after the name of the station during tuning (press the JOG MODE button, then turning the VOL/SKIP/SELECT control on the unit), this indicates that there are secondary services available to that station. These secondary services contain extra services that are related to the primary station. e.g. a sports station may want to add extra commentaries. The secondary services are inserted directly after the primary station in the station list.
To select the secondary station, turn the the desired secondary station is displayed, then press the SELECT button. When the secondary service ends, the unit will automatically switch back to the primary station.

As well as the auto tune function, you can manually tune the receiver. This can help you when aligning your aerial or when adding stations that were missed while auto tuning.
1. Press the MENU VOL/SKIP/SELECT control on the unit to select Manual

DAB Display Modes
Every time you press the DISPLAY/INFO button, the display will cycle through the following display modes: Time/Date, Frequency, Audio Bit Rate, Signal Strength, DLS, Programme Type, Ensemble/Multiplex (Group name).

The broadcaster (Radio station) provides clock and date information automatically so there’s no need to manually set this information.
Frequency
The frequency of the present station will be displayed.
Audio Bit Rate
The display will show the digital audio bit rate being received.
Signal Strength
The display will show a slide bar to indicate the signal strength, the stronger the signal, the longer the bar will be from left to right.
DLS (Dynamic Label Segment)
Dynamic label segment is a scrolling message that the broadcaster may include with their transmissions. The message usually includes information, such as program details etc.

Programme Type
This describes the style of the programme that is being broadcast. If the information is not available, the display will show <No PTY>.
Multiplex Name
A multiplex is a collection of radio stations that are bundled and transmitted on one frequency. There are national and local multiplexes. Local ones contain stations that are specic to that area.
DAB – unlike normal radio, groups together several radio stations and transmits them on one frequency.

FM Operation
Switching from DAB to FM Mode
To switch the unit to FM mode, press the CD/DAB/FM button repeatedly to select FM. The LCD display will show “switch to FM”, and show the frequency.
Auto Scan
To search for an FM station, press and hold the SKIP/SELECT button on the remote control to start the forward auto scanning. Press and hold the SKIP/SELECT button on the remote control to start the reverse scanning. The LCD display will show the frequency being searched. Once a station has been found, the scanning will stop automatically.
Manual Scan
To search for FM stations manually, press the JOG MODE button, then turn the
VOL/SKIP/SELECT control on the unit to select your desired frequency. The LCD display
will show <Tuning>.

The unit will automatically switch between stereo and mono mode when it is set to Auto, but you can override this and switch between them manually. This is helpful when receiving poor signal reception.

1. Open the CD door, and insert a CD with the printed side facing up, then press the CD door gently to close. The total number of the tracks in the disc will display on the display window.
• If there is no disc inside or the CD door is not closed, the
display window will display “NO DISC”.

Finding a Passage within a Track
1. During playback, press and hold the SKIP/SELECT buttons. The CD is played at high speed and with reduced volume.
2. When you recognise the passage you want, release the SKIP/SELECT to resume normal playback.

Programming Track Numbers
You may store up to 20 tracks in the desired sequence. Be sure to press the STOP button before use to ensure no prior program has been set.

Handling Discs
• Do not touch the playback side of the disc.
• Do not attach paper or tape to the disc.

Cleaning Discs
• Fingerprints and dust on the disc cause picture and sound deterioration. Wipe the disc from the centre outwards with a soft cloth. Always keep the disc clean.

• If you cannot wipe o the dust with a soft cloth, wipe the disc lightly with a slightly moistened soft cloth and nish with a dry cloth.
• Do not use any type of solvent such as thinner, benzine, commercially available cleaners or antistatic spray. They may damage the disc.
Storing Discs
• Do not store discs in places subjected to direct sunlight or near heat sources.
• Do not store discs in places subjected to moisture and dust such as a bathroom or near a
humidier.
• Storing discs vertically in a case, stacking discs or placing objects on discs outside of their cases may cause warping.

If a problem does occur, it may often be due to something very minor. The following table contains various tips.
Problem Cause / Solution

The unit does not power on • Make sure the mains plug is secure in
the outlet, and the outlet has power.
Disc in place but the unit won’t play • Make sure the disc label is facing up.
• Make sure the disc is clean.
• PAUSE mode may be activated,
deactivate it.
• Disc may be damaged or dirty; check and clean the disc.
Disc skips • Make sure the unit is on a at secure
spot. Vibrations or jarring can cause the disc to skip.

Poor FM reception • Make sure the FM aerial wire is fully
extended.
• Electrical interference in your home can cause poor reception. Move the unit away from them (especially those with motors and transformers).
If the unit is not working properly, disconnect the power source and then reconnect it.

• Read all the instructions carefully before using the unit and keep them for future reference.
• Retain the manual. If you pass the unit onto a third party make sure to include this manual.
• Check that the voltage marked on the rating label matches your mains voltage.
Damage
• Please inspect the unit for damage after unpacking.
• Do not continue to operate the unit if you are in any doubt about it working normally, or if it is damaged in any way - switch o, withdraw the mains plug and consult your dealer.
Location of Unit
• The unit must be placed on a at stable surface and should not be subjected to vibrations.
• Do not place the unit on sloped or unstable surfaces as the unit may fall o or tip over.
• The mains socket must be located near the unit and should be easily accessible.
• This unit is designed for indoor use only.
Temperature
• Avoid extreme degrees of temperature, either hot or cold. Place the unit well away from heat sources such as radiators or gas/ electric res.
• Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and other sources of heat.
Naked Flames
• Never place any type of candle or naked ame on the top of or near the unit.
Moisture
• To reduce the risk of re, electric shock or product damage, do not expose this unit to rain, moisture, dripping or splashing. No objects lled with liquids, such as vases, should be placed on the unit.
• If you spill any liquid into the unit, it can cause serious damage. Switch it o at the mains immediately. Withdraw the mains plug and consult your dealer.

Ventilation
• To prevent the risk of electric shock or re hazard due to overheating, ensure that curtains and other materials do not obstruct the ventilation vents.
• Do not install or place this unit in a bookcase, built-in cabinet or in another conned space. Ensure the unit is well ventilated.
Safety
• Always disconnect the unit from the mains supply before connecting/disconnecting other devices or moving the unit.
• Unplug the unit from the mains socket during a lightning storm.
Mains Cable
• Make sure the unit or unit stand is not resting on top of the mains cable, as the weight of the unit may damage the mains cable and create a safety hazard.
• If the mains cable is damaged it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualied persons in order to avoid a hazard.
Earphones
• Listening to loud sounds for prolonged periods of time may permanently damage your hearing.
• Before putting on earphones, turn the volume down then put the earphones on and slowly increase the volume until you reach a comfortable listening level.
Interference
• Do not place the unit on or near appliances which may cause electromagnetic interference. If you do, it may adversely aect the operating performance of the unit, and cause a distorted picture or sound.
Standby
• The STANDBY/ON remote control does not switch o the unit completely. The unit will continue to draw electricity from the mains supply while in standby. In the interests of safety and to avoid unnecessary energy consumption, never leave the unit in standby while unattended for long periods of time, e.g. overnight, while on holiday or while out of the house. Switch it o and disconnect the mains adapter from the mains socket.

Batteries
• Batteries used in the remote control for this unit are easily swallowed by young children and this is dangerous.
• Keep loose batteries away from young children and make sure that the battery holder tray is secure in the remote control. Seek medical advice if you believe a cell has been swallowed.
• Please dispose of batteries correctly by following the guidance in this manual.
Supervision
• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the unit and the remote control.
• Never let anyone especially children push anything into the holes, slots or any other openings in the case - this could result in a fatal electric shock.

• This unit utilises a laser. Use of controls, adjustments or performance of procedures other than those specied herein may result in hazardous radiation exposure.
• Before moving the unit, ensure the disc tray is empty.
• Always remove the disc when the unit is not in use.
• Failure to do so will risk severely damaging the disc and the unit.
• Do not stack devices, heat from other devices may aect the performance of the unit.
