Connect the mains cable (included) to the AC Socket and then the mains socket.
Battery Power
Insert 4 x C type (UM-2/R14) batteries (not included) correctly by following the polarity (+ or –) indications in the battery compartment.

Knowing when to Replace the Batteries
When the batteries become weak, the sound becomes weak and distorted.
When the batteries are completely exhausted, the unit will turn off.
The alarm function can only be activated in AC power operation.
Connections
Connecting to the Earphones Socket
1. Connect earphones (3.5mm stereo mini plug) to the earphones socket.
2. Adjust the volume control to obtain the desired volume level.
3. When the earphones are connected, the speakers will automatically mute.
Handling the Batteries
Improper or incorrect use of batteries may cause corrosion or battery leakage, which could cause personal injury or damage to property.
Install the batteries correctly by following the polarity (+ and –) indications in the battery compartment.
Use only the types of the batteries which are indicated in this manual.
Do not install new batteries with used ones and do not mix different types of batteries.
Do not dispose of the used batteries as domestic waste. Dispose of them in accordance with local regulations.
If you are not going to use the unit for a long time, remove the batteries to avoid damage from battery leakage and corrosion.
If the batteries are replaced while the power is on, the unit may revert to the factory setting.
Due to the short battery life span of some alkaline batteries. It is recommended to use rechargeable batteries. You will need to purchase a charger to charge the rechargeable batteries. This saves cost and is more environmentally friendly.
AC~
Long-term exposure to loud music may cause hearing damage. It is best to avoid extreme volume when using earphones, especially for extended periods.
Always switch the unit off after use to conserve the battery life.

Basic Operation
Powering ON/OFF
When you first connect the unit to the mains socket. The unit will be in STANDBY mode.
Press the
STANDBY button to switch the unit on.
Press the
STANDBY button again to switch the unit off.
Disconnect the mains cable from the mains socket if you want to switch the unit off completely.
Selecting Modes
Press the DAB/FM button repeatedly to switch between modes (DAB/FM).
Adjusting the Volume
Press the VOLUME +/– buttons to adjust the volume.
Setting the Time
When you first turn on your radio it will automatically set the time by searching out the DAB signal. It will continue to search for the clock whilst in DAB mode until it has managed to set the time. If after 10 minutes the clock has not automatically set itself try repositioning the radio to get a better reception.
Alarm Clock and the Wake-up Mode Settings
This unit incorporates an Alarm function. You can have an alarm wake-up time and wake-up mode setting to wake you with a buzzer tone, or your favourite radio station.
Setting the alarm clock in STANDBY mode or ON mode.
1. Press the ALARM/SNOOZE button and hold it for a few seconds. The display will shows “Alarm Setting Time” and the hour digits will flash.
2. Press the
buttons to adjust the hour digits, and then press the
SELECT button to confirm.
3. The minute digits will flash. Press the
buttons to adjust the
minute digits, and then press the SELECT button to confirm.
4. The wake-up mode settings will flash on the display. Adjust DAB & FM Preset / Buzzer Tones / Alarm Wake-up Volume Level by pressing the
buttons. Press the SELECT button to confirm.

• Buzzer volume level is fixed.
• Make sure the DAB/FM preset station is stored before setting for wake-up mode.

Activating the Alarm Function and Selecting the Wake-up Mode
1. To activate the alarm function, press the ALARM/SNOOZE button repeatedly to select the wake-up mode. The corresponding wake-up modes will change in sequence on every press as follows:

2. Stop pressing the button when the display shows your desired wake-up mode and the alarm is set. The associated alarm on icon will show in the display.
3. At the selected wake-up time, the desired wake-up mode will be turned on. To stop the alarm sooner, press the
STANDBY button to switch off the unit.
Automatic Alarm Repeat
The alarm will automatically repeat each day at the selected time as long as the alarm icon is displayed. To cancel this function, repeatedly press the ALARM/SNOOZE button until “Alarm
Off” shows in the display.
Snooze Function (AC Operation Only)
When the alarm sounds, press the ALARM/SNOOZE button to temporarily switch off the alarm for 5 minutes. The display will show “z” to indicate that snooze is on.
Sleep Function (AC Operation Only)
This function allows you to program the unit to switch off by itself after a set period of time.
1. To activate the sleep function, press the SLEEP button repeatedly. The time will change in the sequence on every press as follow:

2. Stop pressing the button when the display shows your desired length of time. The sleep function will be activated in 2 seconds. “S” will show on the display.
3. When the sleep time reaches zero, the unit will turn off. To turn the sleep function off while the sleep timer is still counting down, press the SLEEP button until “Sleep Off” and “S” disappear from the display.
4. Press the INFO button repeatedly to display the sleep timer status.
If you have activated the alarm function and the wake-up mode is DAB or FM, make sure that the volume is at a sufficient level for you to hear.
• The sleep function can only be activated in AC power operation.

System Reset
When you move the unit to another part of the country, your pre-tuned and stored DAB stations may no longer be available and you might need to reset the unit back to its original factory settings. To perform a factory reset, please do the following:
1. Switch on the unit.
2. Press and hold the MENU button until the display shows “Press SELECT to confirm reset”.
3. Release the MENU button and press the SELECT button once. The display will first show “Restarting …” and then restore to standby mode.
After the system reset, all the tuned stations, DAB & FM preset stations
and alarm settings will be erased.

1. To activate auto scan, first press the MENU button to enter the Tune Select Menu. Press the
buttons to select “Autoscan“, then press the SELECT button to confirm. The display will show “Scanning …” and a slide bar that indicates the progress of the scan.
2. All the stations that have been found will be stored automatically. To explore the found stations, press the
buttons and then
press the SELECT button to confirm.
Secondary Services
You may see a “>” symbol after the name of the station when pressing the buttons to explore searched stations. This indicates that there are secondary services available to that station. These secondary services contain extra services that are related to the primary station, e.g. a sports station may want to add extra commentaries. The secondary services are inserted directly after the primary station in the station list.
To select the secondary station, press the
buttons until the desired secondary station is displayed, then press the SELECT button. When the secondary service ends, the unit will automatically switch back to the primary station.
DAB Auto Scan
The auto scan will search for the entire DAB Band III channels. After the scan has finished, the first alphanumerically found station will be automatically selected.
If no stations are found after auto scan, the unit will then enter into the Tune Select Menu. Press the buttons and then press the SELECT button to select manual tune or auto scan modes for stations.
Full auto scan will not replace the DAB stations in the memory. If you want to remove all the previously scanned stations, you will need to reset the system.
DAB Operation
If the unit is connected to the mains power and then switched on from standby for the first time, the unit will automatically enter into DAB mode and perform the auto scan function. During the scan the display will show “Scanning …” together with a slide bar that indicates the progress of the scan and the amount of stations that have been found so far.
Once the scan has finished, the unit will select the first alphanumerically found station. To explore the found stations by pressing the
buttons. When you find a station that you would like
to listen to, press the SELECT button.

Manual Tuning
As well as the auto tune function, you can manually tune the receiver. This can help you when aligning your aerial or when adding stations that were missed while auto tuning.
1. Press the MENU button to enter the Tune Select Menu and then press the SELECT button to confirm. The display will now show Manual tune.
2. Press the
buttons to cycle through the DAB channels, which
are numbered from 5A to 13F.
3. When your desired channel number is selected, press the SELECT button to enter the current multiplex. The top line will now display the multiplex name and the second line will display the signal strength.
4. Press the SELECT button to confirm the selection, or press the buttons to look for another station that you would like to listen to.
Storing Stations
You can store up to 4 of your favourite DAB stations to the memory. This will enable you to access your favourite stations quickly and easily.
1. Press the
buttons to select your desired preset station number and then press and hold the PRESETS 1-4 buttons of your choice to confirm. The station will be stored and the screen will then show “Preset # saved“.
Recalling a Stored Station
Once you have saved a station, you can recall it by pressing the PRESETS 1-4 buttons.
• There are 4 default preset stations, you can overwrite these as you like.
• If you press and hold the Preset 1-4 buttons for too long while recalling a saved station you will save the current station and overwrite the previous one.

Time/Date
The broadcaster (Radio station) provides clock and date information automatically so there’s no need to manually set this information.
Frequency
The frequency of the present station will be displayed.
Audio Bit Rate
The display will show the digital audio bit rate being received.
Signal Strength
The display will show a slide bar to indicate the signal strength, the stronger the signal, the longer the bar will be from left to right.
DLS (Dynamic Label Segment)
Dynamic label segment is a scrolling message that the broadcaster may include with their transmissions. The message usually includes information, such as program details etc.
Programme Type
This describes the style of the programme that is being broadcast.
Multiplex Name
A multiplex is a collection of radio stations that are bundled and transmitted on one frequency. There are national and local multiplexes. Local ones contain stations that are specific to that area.
DAB – unlike normal radio, groups together several radio stations and transmits them on one frequency.
DAB Display Modes
Every time you press the DISPLAY/INFO button, the display will cycle through the following display modes: Time/Date, Frequency, Audio Bit Rate, Signal Strength, DLS, Programme Type, Ensemble/Multiplex (Group name).
The information is displayed on the lower segment of the display.

The unit will automatically switch between stereo and mono mode when it is set to Auto, but you can override this and switch between them manually. This is helpful when receiving poor signal reception.
FM Operation
Switching from DAB to FM Mode
To switch the unit to FM mode, press the DAB/FM button repeatedly to select FM. The display will show the frequency.
Auto Scan
To search for an FM station, press and hold the buttons to start the forward/reverse auto scanning. The display will show “Searching…”. Once a station has been found, the scanning will stop automatically.
Manual Scan
To search for FM stations manually, press the buttons repeatedly until your desired frequency is reached.
Audio Mode
Press the SELECT button to toggle between the Auto or Mono selection.
Storing Stations
You can store up to 4 of your favourite FM stations to the memory. This will enable you to access your favourite stations quickly and easily.
1. Press the
buttons to select your desired preset station number and then press and hold the PRESETS 1-4 buttons of your choice to confirm. The station will be stored and the screen will then show “Preset # saved“.

Programme Type
This describes the “Style” or “genre” of music that is being broadcast e.g. “Rock” or “Classical”.
Time/Date
The broadcaster (Radio station) provides clock and date information automatically so there’s no need to manually set this information. In the unlikely event that the broadcaster does not transmit any clock information; the display will show <Time/Date>.
Radio Text
As with DAB, the broadcaster can include a scrolling text that displays information about the current program.
Channel Frequency
This shows the frequency of the current station.
FM Display Modes
Every time you press the INFO button, the display will cycle through the following display modes: Programme Type, Time/Date, Radio Text, Channel Frequency.
The information is displayed on the lower segment of the display.

Ensure to unplug the unit from the mains socket before cleaning.
Maintenance
To clean the unit, wipe the case with a slightly moist, lint-free cloth.
Do not use any cleaning fluids containing alcohol, ammonia or abrasives.
Do not spray an aerosol at or near the unit.
Hints and Tips
Problem Solution
No Sound Adjust the volume control, it may not be turned up.
Static Sound Signal reception too low. Adjust the aerial or move the unit to a
stronger signal location.
Sound is distorted Volume is too high. Adjust the volume control.
Desired station not found
Weak signal. Use the Manual Tune function.
The LCD display shows “SERVICE N/A”
No DAB coverage in your area or poor reception. Adjust the position of the aerial.
Poor reception. Adjust the position of the aerial.
The LCD display is blank This may occur if the broadcaster changes the label of a service or
removes a label while tuned. The unit will try to retune or perform a scan.

Damage
• Please inspect the unit for damage after unpacking.
• Do not continue to operate the unit if you are in any doubt about it working normally, or if it is damaged in any way - switch o, withdraw the mains plug and consult your dealer.
Location of Unit
• The unit must be placed on a at stable surface and should not be subjected to vibrations.
• Do not place the unit on sloped or unstable surfaces as the unit may fall o or tip over.
• The mains socket must be located near the unit and should be easily accessible.
• This unit is designed for indoor use only.
Temperature
• Avoid extreme degrees of temperature, either hot or cold. Place the unit well away from heat sources such as radiators or gas/electric res.
• Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and other sources of heat.
Naked Flames
• Never place any type of candle or naked ame on the top of or near the unit.
Moisture
• To reduce the risk of re, electric shock or product damage, do not expose this unit to rain, moisture, dripping or splashing. No objects lled with liquids, such as vases, should be placed on the unit.

Interference

Batteries
• Batteries used in the unit are easily swallowed by young children and this is dangerous.
• Keep loose batteries away from young children and make sure that the battery holder tray is secure in the unit. Seek medical advice if you believe a cell has been swallowed.
• Please dispose of batteries correctly by following the guidance in this manual.
