don’t have a Fl ash button on your ph one, you
can create the s ame eect by quickly ta pping
the on-hook sensor on your phone as if you
were quickly h anging up and then pic king up
again.

Basic Calling
Placing a Call
Extension to extension
Dial the ex tension number and pi ck up the handset
or press the speakerphone button (if your phone
has a speakerphone).
Outbound calls
Dial the phone number and pick up the handset or
press the speakerphone button (if your phone has
a speakerphone).

Calling through Virtual Oce Online
Login to your Vi rtual Oce Online acco unt and change you r I’m calling from: statu s to Desk Phone, click on th e phone number of a contac t,
then pick u p the call from your desk p hone and
wait for the ca ll to connect.
Answering a Call
New call
Pick up the handset or press the speakerphone
button (if your phone has a speakerphone).
While on another call (call waiting)
1. Press Flash to retri eve a new incoming call
after hear ing the call waiting tone . The rst call
will automat ically be placed on hold
2. To alternate between th e two calls,
press Flash
Ending a Call
Hang up your handset (or speakerphone).
Voicemail
Listen to voicemail
1. Dial 555 from yo ur phone (or Dial 500 from
another phone in your company PBX) or
dial your enti re phone number from a ny
other phone
• From your own p hone (after dialing 555)
just enter your v oicemail password and press # again
• When dialing from another phone, enter
your extension number, press #, enter your
voicemail pa ssword and press # again
2. After connecting, follow the recorded
announcements to access your
voicemail acco unt
Forwarding voicemail
1. When listeni ng to a voicemail, press 0 to access
voicemail options
2. Press 2 and e nter an exten sion number to
forward the voicemail to another extension
Call Transfer
Cold Transfer (Blind Transfer)
Transfer a call to a secon d number without
speaking to the second party.
To cold transfer a call to a new number
1. Press Flash. T his puts the rst cal ler on hold
2. Enter the second number
3. Hang up to complete the transfer (before the
second party answers)
Warm Transfer
Transfer a call to a secon d number, after rst
speaking to the second party.
To warm transfer an existing call to a
new number
1. Press Flash. T his puts the rst cal ler on hold
2. Dial the second number
3. Talk to the second par ty
4. Hang up to complete the transfer
Conference Call
Conferencing a llows you to join two caller s into a
conference via your phone.
When a call is already in progress
1. Press Flash
2. Dial the second call
3. After the seco nd call answers, press Flash to
join the cal ls into a 3-way conference
When no calls are in progress
1. Dial the r st caller on the line
2. Follow the s teps above
Ending a conference
To end a conference, just han g up.
Hold
If your pho ne has a hold button, u se it to put calls
on or o hold .
If your pho ne does not have a hold but ton:
1. Press Flash whe n on a call
2. The call will b e placed on hold and the n you can
hang up as so on as you hear the dial ton e
3. To retrieve your held call , pickup the handset o r
speakerphone
Note: If you hav e a call on hold, and receive a
second call , you can alternate betwee n the two calls by pre ssing Flash. However, if you
have a call on ho ld and you make a second outbound call, pressing Flash will create a
3-way call.

Call Waiting
When on an ac tive call if call waitin g is enabled you
will hear a cal l waiting tone.
• To accept the call, press Flash ( your original
call is placed o n hold)
• To ignore the call, do n othing , and the call will
be forwarded to voicemail or your designated
“call forward n o answer” setting
After accepting a call waiting call, you can:
• Use Flash to alterna te between yo ur original
call and you r new call
• The other ca ll will always be placed on ho ld
when talking to the alternate party
To disable call waiting
• Lift you r handset and dial *57
• You will no longer h ear the call waiting tone
when there is a n incoming call while you a re
on a call
• Your second inco ming call will be forward ed to
voicemail
To re-enable call waiting
• Lift you r handset and dial *56
• You will now hear th e call waiting tone when
there is an inco ming call while you are on a ca ll
Redial
To redial a call
1. Pick up the handset or press the
speakerphone button (if you r phone has a
speakerphone)
2. Dial *07
Return Last Call Received
To return the last call received:
1. Pick up the handset or press the
speakerphone button (if you r phone has a
speakerphone)
2. Dial *69
Make an Anonymous Call
This will blo ck your caller ID to your call ed party
and show “Anony mous / Restricted ”
1. Pick up the handset or press the
speakerphone button (if you r phone has a
speakerphone)
2. Dial *67 plus the phone number
Call Forwarding
8x8 recomm ends you control your call fo rwarding
setting s through Virtual O ce Online
(http://virtualoce.8x8.com), because i t is
network-ba sed, always active, a nd can be changed
from anywh ere you have access to a computer
with an Intern et connection.
You can also use ph one-based call for warding,
which is onl y active when your pho ne is powered
and connec ted, and can be chan ged when you are
at your phon e.
Forward All Calls (phone-based instructions)
To forward all calls to anot her number:
1. Pick up the handset or press the
speakerphone button (if you r phone has a
speakerphone)
2. Dial *72
3. Dial the nu mber you want to forward all ca lls to
4. Wait for the conrming beeps and then
hang up
To turn o forwarding a ll calls to another numbe r:
1. Pick up the handset or press the
speakerphone button (if you r phone has a
speakerphone)
2. Dial *73
3. Hang up
Forward No Answer (phone-based instructions)
To forward calls to anoth er number when you do
not answer you r phone (after 4 rings):
1. Pick up the handset or press the
speakerphone button (if you r phone has a
speakerphone)
2. Dial *92
3. Dial the nu mber you want to forward call s to
when you do n ot answer th e call in 4 rings
4. Wait for the conrming beeps and then
hang up
To turn o forwarding c alls to another number
when you do n ot answer th e call in 4 rings:
1. Pick up the handset or press the
speakerphone button (if you r phone has a
speakerphone)
2. Dial *93
3. Hang up
Note:
The 8x8 d efault setting is to forw ard calls
to voicemail wh en you do not answer in
3 rings. Using this phone-based feature
will overri de that default. Your calls wil l no
longer be fo rwarded to your voicema il but
to another nu mber that you specif y if you
don’t answ er in 3 rings.
If you turn o yo ur Forward No Answe r
feature using * 93, your settings will rever t
back to forw arding calls to voicemail wh en
you don’t an swer in 3 rings (unless you
have specied another number using
Virtual Oce Online.)
DND (Do Not Disturb)
Activating DND prevents incoming calls from
ringing your phone.
Turn on DND: Press *78 to activate.
Turn o DND: Press *79 to turn it o.
Intercom Call
An intercom call wi ll go directly to the calle d
party ( if their phone sup ports intercom calls) and
automatically answers after one ring without the
called party answering the phone.
To make an intercom call:
• Dial *64 + xxxx (where xxxx is th e
destination number for the intercom call).
Note: Dial th e xxxx immediately a fter the *64; do
not wait for a seco nd dial tone.
