After unpacking the box and identifying its parts, please review the following steps to operate your link-U:
Open the white front panel by pressing and sliding it off as shown in the “Step 1” image of the quick start guide on page 3.
Insert the SD Memory Card (up to 32 GB, cat. 6 or above),
Note: link-U will work without an SD Memory Card, but it will not be able to record
videos.
Insert the Nano SIM card (as shown in “Step 2” on page 3), but
make sure the card is not PIN blocked.
You can verify by inserting the NanoSIM card in a Smartphone, and checking if the device can access the Internet without further action. The link-U modem is designed to work with several worldwide carriers (see list in Appendix 2 on page 26). If you’re unsure if your carrier is supported, contact us at contact@linkucam.com.
Note: Link-U works even without a SIM card installed, but then you can use it only
on Ethernet cabled or Wi-Fi wireless networks.

Turn on the camera simply by inserting the Ethernet cable
into the camera and into the “Power Out” port of the PoE Injector,
both provided in the box. This technology allows you to bring both power and Ethernet network data to the link-U with only one cable. Note: any standard Ethernet cable can be used to connect the camera to the PoE injector as well. If you are planning to connect your link-U to Internet via Ethernet cable, please insert it in the other port of the Power Injector (as shown in “Step 3”).
Download the “LINK-U” app from the Apple Store or Google
Play Store and install it on your smartphone (see “Step 4”).
For smooth operating, make sure your app and rmware are kept up
to date with the latest versions. Note: from your smartphone, visit our webapge www.linkucam.com for a quick link to the APP Stores.
If you need to reset the camera to Factory Presets, open the link-U’s front panel, and press the button located below the SIM card slot (see “Step 5”). Do not remove the PoE injector and cable from the plug.

link-U comes with a stand that allows you to place the camera
on desks, tables and shelves.
If you would like to have more installation options, you can remove the link-U stand. To do so, simply unscrew the base. The connection screw is just a standard photo-stand type, so you can install it using any kind of standard stands (see “Step 6”).

In the “Sensors” conguration page you can select the sensitivity
of the on-board link-U sensors (Motion, Sound and PIR).
_ The Motion sensor is triggered if any movement happens in front of the link-U.
_ The Sound sensor is triggered if there is any noise in the room.
_ The PIR sensor is triggered if anything with human body temperature passes in front of the link-U, even in total darkness.
When the sensor is triggered, link-U will send a notication message
to your smartphone and start recording a short video on the internal SD memory card. The pre-alarm and post-alarm timers allow you to set the duration of the video recordings before and after any event happens, as triggered by the sensors. At the bottom of this page, you can see any additional BLT Sensors that may be installed. If you would like to search for additional BLT Sensors or BLT Devices, press the button “+” on the top right.

link-U offers the possibility to install additional BLT Sensors and BLT Devices. With its internal Bluetooth 4.0 chip, link-U can become the Hub to control up to 8 simultaneously. No additional software or HUB will be required. BLT sensors and devices can be bought at
www.linkucam.com.
Additional BLT Sensors include Door, Shock, Movement and Smoke. These sensors, after being paired with your link-U, will trigger the
notications and start recording video in the same way as the onboard
sensors. In the App, they will be listed in the SENSORS page below the onboard sensors.

How to add and remove BLT Sensors and Devices to link-U
In the “BT Search” page you can see the devices available in the area. Please make sure the BLT devices are powered by battery or connected to the power plug. The status is listed next to each device:
1 “Unpaired”: this device is available to be added
2 “Paired”: this device is already paired your link-U
3 “Please reset the BLE”: this device is already paired to another
link-U (or it was paired to the current link-U, but the conguration
got erased). If you would like to add this device, you need to reset it manually (please see the User Manual included in the Device Box about how to manually reset each device). In order to add a new BLT Sensor or BLT Device, please select one of the “Unpaired” presented in the BT Search page, and insert the code printed on it (is a sequence of 3 letters and 3 numbers, without “-”), or simply scan the QR code that is printed on the last page of the device’s User Manual.
Note: During pairing, please keep the the device very close to the link-U.

Everyday Operation
After the rst set-up process, your link-U will be permanently listed in the
app. You can now move your link-U anywhere you prefer and still access it from your smartphone no matter where you are (as far as LTE or Wi-Fi coverage is available).
Remember to power on your link-U using the PoE Injector (Power Out port), using the cable supplied in the box or any standard Ethernet cable.
The link-U will try to connect to the Internet by rst using the Ethernet
cable (if installed between your Home router and the PoE injector, as described in section 2.3). Then it will try to connect by Wi-Fi (if you
connected to your Wi-Fi home network during the rst set-up process, see
section 3.5). Finally, link-U will try to connect to the Internet via its internal LTE modem (if you installed a fully operating SIM card, see section 2.2). Link-U continuously checks and sets the best connection available.
An internal battery will keep the link-U alive and accessible even if you lose power to your home, for a period up to 3 hours. The internal battery will recharge automatically when the electricity is back on again. The LED on the top of the link-U will keep you informed about all connections.

Appendix 1 Firmware Update
From time-to-time, it is recommended that you upgrade the internal
rmware of link-U to the latest version. link-U features will get enhanced by more sophisticated rmware congurations over time, as
the experience of the manufacturer and the feedback of the customers
introduce better solutions. Updating the rmware should not require
more than 5 minutes.
Check the latest Firmware number Visit the webpage www.linkucam.com/support/
You’ll nd this on the Support page in the “Resources” tab. From there, you can check the latest rmware number. Then check on the link-U APP, in the “System” page, the rmware
number installed on you your link-U (last 4 digits). If the website shows a newer number, please update.

How to upgrade link-U to the latest Firmware First, download the latest Firmware from the website onto your computer, and then save it to a Micro SD card (Note: use an SD card adaptor if needed). Then, insert the Micro SD card into the link-U and restart the link-U. During start-up process, the link-U
internal system will recognize and upgrade to the rmware that is available in the SD card. The central LED light on the link-U will ash
repeatedly.
Please do not interrupt the rmware upgrade process. It is fully
automatic, and may take up to 5 minutes. The process nishes
when the central LED light on the link-U steadily stays ON. When
the link-U is accessible again, please check if the rmware number
displayed in the “System” page of the APP matches the latest number on the website. Please reset the camera to the factory default, as they have maybe
improved in the new rmware.

Appendix 3 First Set-Up via direct-WiFi
If your link-U has no access to Internet via Ethernet cable or
LTE modem, or for any reason it is still ofine, please follow this
procedure to enstablish a direct-WiFi connection to your link-U.
First reset your link-U as in paragraph 2.6, and wait for link-U to restart. Then, open the WiFi settings in your Smartphone and select a WiFi spot named “APCam_xx:xx:xx” (the real number is printed in the label placed below the stand of your link-U, last 6 digit). After few seconds your Smartphone will be connected to linkU directly.
Open your link-U APP and nd the camera in the “Camera List”
page (eventually press the “Refresh” button). Now you can navigate to the “Settings” page (push the “gear” icon
on the right), and check your link-U congurations.
If you need, you can connect your link-U to your Home WiFi network
pressing the WiFi Setup button and selecting your home Wi name
and password. After saving, your link-U will interrupt the direct-WiFi connection.
