Power On and Off
To turn on the AllTalk, press the Power
button with your finger. The button is located
in the lower left front when being viewed in
laptop mode.
The button is located just under the .
To turn on the TouchTalk and MiniTalk, press
and hold the Power button with your finger.
If the device does not turn on, refer to the
“Troubleshooting” section at the back of
this manual.
To turn off the AllTalk, press the Power button
and the screen will say, Shutting down.
To turn the device back on, press the Power
button again.
NOTE: We recommend that you power off your
AllTalk at least once a week.
To turn off the TouchTalk and MiniTalk, press the
Power button, touch Power off, and then touch
OK. In several seconds, the screen will turn black.
After the device shuts down, you do not need to
wait before turning it back on.

Input Devices
Lingraphica speech-generating devices are compatible with numerous external input devices, for example,
mice, external keyboards, styli, and exclusively on the AllTalk, Lingraphica EyeGaze* technology. Technical
support is available to help you connect an external input device to your Lingraphica speech-generating device.
Sleep Mode
After five minutes of inactivity, the device will go to “sleep.” Press the Space bar on the AllTalk to wake up
the device and press the Power button on the TouchTalk and MiniTalk to wake up the device. You may put the
device to sleep at any time by briefly pressing the Power button.
Running on Battery
The device has a built-in battery and can run for hours when not plugged in, making it easy to take your device
wherever you go. When the charging cable is pulled out, the battery takes over automatically. When the
charging cable is reinserted and plugged into an outlet, the battery automatically charges. If the battery runs
out, simply plug in the device to recharge.
Checking the Battery Level on AllTalk
Place your finger in right side border of the screen. Swipe your finger to the left while keeping contact with the
screen. The Battery level will be shown in the lower left.

three F keys on the keyboard. The F keys are the top row
of keys, located just above the number keys.

On the TouchTalk, press the right side of the sound button to increase the volume and the left side to
decrease the volume. On the MiniTalk, press the right side of the sound button to decrease the volume

Device Basics
Screen Layout on AllTalk
When you turn on the device, you are always taken to the Home Page.

Home: This button brings the user back to the Home Page.

Touch to Make Items Speak
When you touch an icon, it speaks and increases in size and the text is presented underneath. We call this whole
process “projection.” Verbs have an additional cue: they are animated. Touching a phrase icon causes each of the
icons in the phrase to be projected in sequence.

Icons Can Have Pages Behind Them
If the icon has a three-dimensional appearance, then there are additional icons within the page containing more
icons in the same category. When the TouchTalk/MiniTalk are set on custom navigation mode with one-touch
navigation off, you will need to touch the green arrow to enter a page icon. If not, follow the directions below.

Navigation Modes
There are three different navigation modes.
Slow Navigation: The slow setting enables all of the feedback systems the device has to offer. In this setting the
one-touch navigation remains on. This feature allows you to automatically enter a page by touching only once on
the icon. The icons and phrase icons will project for two seconds and the page icons will project and speak the
word or phrase.
Fast Mode: The fast setting lets you navigate to a desired icon quickly without the added feedback systems. Fast
navigation has one-touch navigation on, the icons and phrase icons will not project, and page icons will not project
and will not speak the word or phrase.
Custom Navigation: Custom navigation allows you to choose if each setting is on or off.

Workspace
The Workspace is the place to create phrases and temporarily store icons so that they may be copied
to other pages.

You can choose to have the Workspace hidden or visible on the screen. The Workspace is necessary
to create phrase icons, to search for icons, and to move icons from page to page.

in the workspace. This can only be
changed in custom navigation.

Here you can make it easier to add icons to the workspace. The options are, auto add icons to workspace
and auto add page icons to workspace. By choosing both options ALL icons will be added to the workspace

The Icon Editor is where you assign a name, image, and voice to an icon, and add or remove pages behind an
icon. You can always go back and change these settings later.

Changing Icon Features
By using the Icon Editor, you can change all features of an icon, including the icon name, image, voice, and
page options.

Adding a new icon to a page

Deleting an icon
Deleting icons from a page is fast and easy. It is important to remember that by deleting an icon, it is only
removed from that page, not from the device. If you want to delete a page icon and one-touch navigation is
turned on then touch the green arrow pointing to the left before proceeding to step 2.

Rearranging icons on the page
You can rearrange icons on pages based on the user’s unique needs and/or preferences. On the AllTalk the icons
will not dance when you touch and hold. This is a feature on the TouchTalk and MiniTalk.
1. Touch and hold the icon you want to move until icons start dancing on page (TouchTalk and MiniTalk only).

Copying an Icon to a Different Page
With the auto add icons and auto add page icons to workspace enabled you can easily copy an icon on one page to
another. Note, in order to do this, the Workspace must be shown.

Associative Search on AllTalk: To perform an associative search place the icon in the workspace. Double
click on the icon and you will be brought to the page where that icon lives and have access to associated
words of the same category.

Workspace. Touch the icon and then touch the forward green arrow. You will be brought to the page where
that icon lives and have access to associated words of the same category.

Using FastTalk
The FastTalk page contains easily accessed words and phrases to help quickly initiate and maintain conversation.
More frequently used phrases can be stored at the top of the screen for faster reference. Like any other page,
this page can be further customized to meet individual communication needs. For reference on making icons see
page 22, Making New Icons.

Settings
About Device
View the device serial number and version information.
Choose Voice
This option can change the device voice and the
voice speed.
Navigation

Phrase Building Options
Here you can make it easier to add icons to the
workspace. The options are, auto add icons to
workspace and auto add page icons to workspace.
By choosing both options ALL icons will be added to the workspace when selected.
Backup or Restore
Save a backup or restore a backup that was
previously saved. Restoring a backup will overwrite the current data.
Update
Search for and download device updates over the
Internet. The device must be connected to a Wi-Fi
network to use this setting.
Reset
AllTalk has the option to reorganize icons on the page
automatically by touching, Clean Up Page. Go to User
Icons allows the user to go to the page that contains
all the custom icons that the user has created. Reset
Current Scene returns the currently displayed page to

their default layout, which will cause the user to lose all
customized data.
Icon and Text Options
You can choose to use all uppercase letters, how
many lines of text appear under the icons, or you may
choose to show no text at all. In this section you can
decide if you would like to lock all icons in place. This
setting prevents you from moving icons around the
page, to other pages, or from deleting them. You can
also select the option to turn off auto create blank
icons when searching.
Exercise Settings
Turn on or off different exercise settings to customize
the exercises, such as speak instructions when entering
a task, speak the workspace icons when entering a task,
and/or show the report after completing an exercise.

Troubleshooting
Device Won’t Turn On
When the device is on battery power and the battery
runs out, the device will be unresponsive. If pressing the
Power button does not turn it on, connect the device
to the charging cable and charge for at least one hour.
If the device does not start after charging, please call
Lingraphica Technical Support.
No Voice on AllTalk
Make sure the computer volume is turned up. Locate
the volume controls on your keyboard.
F1: No sound
F2: Decrease sound
F3: Increase sound
No Voice on TouchTalk
1. Make sure the TouchTalk volume is turned up: The
volume control is either located in the upper right
corner or on the left side next to the . Press the
volume button to increase the sound.
No Voice on MiniTalk
1. Make sure the MiniTalk volume is turned up: The
volume control is located in the upper left-hand
corner of the device, above . Press the left side of the button to increase the sound.
2. Restart the tablet by holding down the volume down
button and the power button for 10-15 seconds until
the device turns off. Release the buttons as it goes off
and it will automatically start back into the program.
No Text Below Icon
Make sure Text is turned ON: Touch the Menu button,
and then touch Settings. Then touch Icon and Text
Options. There should be a check mark next to either
Show 1 Line of Text, Show 2 Lines of Text, Show 3 Lines of
Text , or Show 4 Lines of Text. If there is not, touch either
of those boxes to add one. The AllTalk has the option to
show all text.

Important Safety Information
Handling Information
The bottom of the device may become very warm
during normal use. If the device is on your lap and gets
uncomfortably warm, remove it from your lap and
place it on a stable work surface.
Keep the device dry. Precipitation, humidity, and liquids
contain minerals that will corrode electronic circuits. Do
not use device with a wet hand; doing so may cause an
electric shock to you or damage to the device.
The device screen is made of glass or acrylic and
could break if your device is dropped or if it receives a
significant impact. Do not use if the screen is broken
or cracked as this could cause injury to you.
Charging cable
Use only the charging cable that came with the device.
It will work in any standard AC power outlet.
Battery
The device comes with an internal, rechargeable
standard Li-ion battery. A charging cable is included for
charging the battery.
Cleaning Your Device
Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or
strong detergents to clean the device. Wipe the device
with a soft cloth slightly dampened in a mild soap-and-
water solution.
