PoE vs Non-PoE Connections
Switch/Routers use Power over Ethernet (PoE) or NON-PoE connections. PoE is a connection which passes electrical power along with data. Use the PoE for Ethernet cables when the component being hooked into the system does not have its own power supply. IP cameras are such devices.
