About this card
This Firewire IEEE 1394A PCI Host Controller card uses the most advanced, high-speed digital technology,
low-cost and high b andwidth isoc hronous ( real-t ime) data int erfac ing between computer s, comput er peri pherals
and consumer electronics products such as camcorders, VCRs, printers, TVs, and digital cameras. With this
IEEE 1394 standard, users can transfer video or capturing images from a digital camera or camcorder to PC
with no image degradation.

Note:
1. Please note that Port 2 and Port 3 are shared. If a device is already connected to Port 2, you cannot
connect another device to Port 3 or vice versa.

Notes:
1. The default factory setting for JP1 is set to position 1-2 (Internal 12V), which uses 12V from the PCI
slot. For additional power, connect the External 12V connector on the Firewire IEEE 1394A PCI Host
Controller card to the power supply of the computer and set JP1 to position 2-3 (External 12V).
2. Please note that Port 3 and Port 4 are shared. If a device is already connected to Port 3, you cannot
connect another device to Port 4 or vice versa.

Installing the Firewire IEEE 1394A PCI Host Controller card
Installing this card into you r computer is a s imple process, just simply follow these step s.
1. Turn off your computer and a ll ex ternal devices c onnect to it.
2. Disc onnect your c omputer f rom the power sourc es .
3. Open the computer case. Refer to your computer user manual for more details.
4. Find a n available PC I slot and remove the slot bracket . Sa ve the bra c ket screw f or lat er use.
5. Align the Firewire IEEE 1394A PCI Host Controller card horizontally with respect to the PCI slot and
insert it into the slot firmly and evenly. Take care not to force it into the slot. Once you have properly
positioned the Firewire IEEE 1394A PCI Host Controller card into the slot, fasten it to the computer case
with the b racket scr ew you have saved.
6. Secure the computer ca s e and switch on your computer.
Driver Installation
Note: Make sure you have your Microsoft Windows OS Installer CD ready before installing the Firewire
IEEE 1394A PCI Host Controller card.
This Firewire IEEE 1394A PCI Host Controller card is compliant to IEEE 1394 OpenHCI Specifications and
compatible with Microsoft OHCI, DV, and SBP-2 driver in Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows Me,
Windows 2000, Windows XP a nd Ma cOS oper at ing sys tem. T his makes the dr iver ins ta llat ion fas t and eas y, no
additional driver required. Simply follow the instructions provided in your operating system to complete
installing the driver .
