The DVI-D Extender can be used to extend DVI-D (digital single link)
signals over large distances. Two Extenders can be daisy chained
together, and when using 15m LINDY SLD (Super Long Distance) DVI
cables in between each extender, a maximum transmission distance of
45m @ 800 x 600 display resolution is supported!

Please Note: T o ensure best results the DVI Extender m ust be used with

LINDY SLD cables!

Using the DVI Extender

Note on extending DVI signals: LINDY SLD cables support maximum

resolutions and distances as detailed below –

15m @ 1600 x 1200 orHDTV 1080i
20m @ 1280 x 1024
25m @ 1024 x 768

Therefore, at these resolutions/distances you can use a single DVI SLD
connection cable between the graphics card and the monitor, without the need
for the DVI Extender.

For greater distances you should use DVI SLD connection cables in
conjunction with the DVI Extender. Two Extenders can be used with 3 SLD
cables. The following examples show the maximum resolutions and lengths:

40m @ 1280 x 1024: 20m SLD Ext Cable + Extender + 20m SLD Cable
45m @ 800 x 600: 1 5m SLD Ext Cable + Extender + 15m SLD Ext Cable +

Extender + 15m SLD Cable
45m @ 1024 x 768: 15m SLD Ext Cable + Extender + 15m SLD Ext Cable +

Note

: These lengths & resolutions are above the maximum recommended for
optimum performance. Depending on your graphics card and monitor there
may be some slight pixel noise!

Troubleshooting

No other DVI devices should be used in between the graphics card and the
DVI extender. DVI splitters, switches or similar units may reduce the maximum
allowed distance per segment!

The lengths and resolutions as detailed above are from tests conducted with
quality equipment such as ATI and Nvidia graphics cards. For lower
specification DVI equipment the possible maximum cable length vs. resolution
may be reduced.

If an installation does not transmit a picture check the installation segment by
segment to ensure each cable/extender is connected correctly.

If problems still persist try reducing th e display resolution to 800 x 600. If the
signal is then transmitted correctly from every segment it is a clear sign that
the quality of the DVI signal generated from your graphics source is not
sufficient. If this is the case then tr y a shorter 10m DVI SLD M/F extension
cable between the DVI signal source and the input to the first DVI Extender,
and then increase the resolution again to the required level. Or you could try to
use a better quality DVI signal source (graphics card).

Installation und Betrieb

Für Distanzen zwischen Grafikkarte und Monitor bis 25m kann ein einfaches
LINDY SLD Kabel ohne Extender für die folgenden DVI Auflösungen eingesetzt
werden.

• 15m bis 1600 x 1200 oder HDTV 1080i

• 20m bis 1280 x 1024

• 25m bis 1024 x 768

Für größere Distanzen werden eine L INDY SLD Verlängerung + ein Extender +
ein SLD Anschlusskabel benötigt. Beide Kabel sollten etwa die gleiche Länge
haben, mit DVI-Standardkabel sind diese Längen N ICHT erreichbar!

Folgende Maximallängen und Auflösung en sind möglich:

• 40m bei 1280x1024 : SLD Verlängerung 20m + Extender + SLD
Anschlusskabel 20m

• 45m bei 800x600: SLD Verläng erung 15m + Extender + SLD Verlängerung
15m + Extender + SLD Anschlusskabel 15m

• 45m bei 1024x768: SLD Verlängerung 15m + Extender + SLD Verlängerung
15m + Extender + SLD Anschlusskabel 15m (leichtess Pixelrauschen je nach
Grafikkarte und Monitor)

• 60m bei 800x600: SLD Verläng erung 20m + Extender + SLD Verlängerung
20m + Extender + SLD Anschlusskabel 20m (leichtes Pixelrauschen)

Diese Längen und Auflösungen wurden bei direkter Verbindung Grafikkarte an
Monitor ermittelt. Bei zusätzlicher Verwendung von DVI Splittern und Switches
können diese Distanzen sich verkürzen!

Hilfestellung bei Problemen

Die o.g. Längen und Auflösungen wurde n mit verschiedenen aktuellen ATI und
NVidea Grafikkarten ermittelt. Für DVI Signalquellen mit anderen Ausgan gs­leistungen und anderer Signalqualität können die erreichbaren Länge n bzw.
Auflösungen geringer ausfallen!

Falls eine Installation mit mehreren Extendern kein Bild überträgt:

1. senken Sie die Auflösung auf 800x600. Wird dann ein Bild übertragen so ist
möglicherweise die von der DVI Signalquelle eingespeiste Signalqualität und
Leistung nicht ausreichend

2. prüfen Sie andernfalls die Installation bitte Segment für Segment um
sicherzustellen, dass kein Extender oder Kabel defekt ist.

3. prüfen Sie bei hoher Auflösung die Installation bitte Segment für Segment.
Setzen Sie gegebenenfalls kürzere Kabel ein wenn sich herausstellt, das bei der
vorgegebenen Auflösung das Signal nicht korrekt übertragen wird. Verringern
Sie zuerst nur die Kabellänge des ersten Kabels an d er Grafikkarte o der
versuchen Sie es mit einer anderen m odernen hochwertigen Grafikkarte.

L’Extender DVI-D peut être utilisé pour étendre un signal DVI-D (digital
single link) sur de grandes distances. Jusqu’à 2 Extenders peuvent être
cascadés ensemble, et lorsque vous utilisez des câbles de 15m LINDY
SLD (Super Long Distance) DVI entre chaque Extender, un distance de
transmission maximale de 45m en 800x600 est supportée!

Remarque: Pour être certain d’obtenir les meilleurs résultats avec l’Extender

DVI, vous devez utiliser des câbles LINDY SLD!

Utilisation de l’Extender DVI

Remarque sur les extensions DVI: Les câbles LINDY SLD supportent des

résolutions maximales et des distances comme indiquées ci-dessous :

15m @ 1600 x 1200 ou HDTV 1080i
20m @ 1280 x 1024
25m @ 1024 x 768

Cependant, à ces résolutions/distances vous pouvez utiliser une connexion
simple DVI SLD entre la carte graphique et le moniteur, sans la nécessité d’un
Extender DVI.
Pour de plus grandes distances vous pouvez utiliser des câbles DVI SLD en
combinaison avec l’Extender DVI. 2 Extenders peu vent être utilisés avec used
3 câbles SLD maximum. Les exemples suivants indique les résolutions et
distances m aximales:

40m @ 1280 x 1024: Rallonge 20m SLD + Extender + Câble 20m SLD
45m @ 800 x 600: Rallonge 15m SLD + Extender + Rallonge 15m SLD +

utilisée, il se peut que vous obser viez quelques dégrad ations de l’image lors
de l’utilisation

Problèmes rencontrés

Les longueurs et les résolutions comme détaillées ci-dessus ont été testées
avec des équipem ents comme des cartes graphiques ATI et Nvidia. Pour
d’autres équipements DVI, la qualité et la distance de connexion peuvent être
réduites voire incompatibles.

Si une installation nécessitant plusieurs extenders ne transmet pas d’images,
vérifiez l’installation segment par segment pour vous assurer que chaque
câble/extender est connecté correctement.

Si les problèmes persistent, essayez de réduire à 800x600. Si le signal est
ensuite transmis de façon correcte dans cette résolution pour chaque
segment, c’est un signe clair que la qualité du signal DVI n’est pas suffisante.
Si c’est le cas, essayez de connecter un câble DVI SLD M/F plus court entre
la source du signal DVI et l’entrée vidéo du premier extender DVI. Réglez
ensuite à nouveau la résolution. Le signal devrait s’améliorer.

Il DVI-D Extender permette di trasmettere segnali DVI-D (digital single
link) a grandi distanze. E’ possible collegare fino a 5 Extender sulla
stessa linea e, utilizzando cavi DVI LINDY SLD (Super Long Distance) fra
un extender e l’altro, è possible raggiungere una distanza massima di
90m!
NOTA BENE: Per ottenere la massima qualità trasmissiva il DVI Extender

deve essere utilizzato in abbinamento ai cavi LINDY SLD!

Utilizzo del DVI Extender

Nota sull’estensione dei segnali video DVI: Risoluzione e distanza

massima supportata dai cavi LINDY SLD :

15m @ 1600 x 1200 o HDTV 1080i
20m @ 1280 x 1024
25m @ 1024 x 768

Per queste distanza/risoluzioni potete utilizzare solamente un cavo DVI SLD e
connettere direttamente la scheda grafica e il monitor senza utilizzare il DVI
Extender.

Per distanze superiori dovete obbligatoriamente utilizzare i cavi DVI SLD in
abbinamento al DVI Extender. Cercate di utilizzare cavi SLD di lunghezza
simile per mantenere una trasm issione bilanciata del segnale. Potete fare
riferimento ai seguenti esempi:

40m @ 1280x1024 : Cavo SLD M/F 20m + Extender + Ca vo SLD M/M 20m
45m @ 800x600: Cavo SLD M/F 15m + Extender + Cavo SLD M/F 15m +

Extender + Cavo SLD M/M

Nota

raccomandato per prestazioni ottimali. In dipendenza dalla scheda grafica e
dal monitor utilizzati possono com parire dei disturbi nell’immagine.

Si possono installare più DVI Extender in cascata interconnettendoli con più
cavi SLD fino ad una distanza massima di 90m. Non deve essere collegato
nessun altro dispositivo DVI oltre ai DVI Extender fra la scheda grafica e il
monitor! Installando altri prodotti DVI come splitter o switch, la distanza
massima raggiungibile può scendere fino a 7.5m @ 1600x1200 o 15m @
1024x768.

Risoluzione dei problemi:

La lunghezza e risoluzione massima supportata dai cavi è stata verificata con
test approfonditi su schede grafiche di elevata qualità ATI e Nvidia. Per
l’utilizzo con schede di qualità inferiore questi parametri potrebbero ridursi.

Se in un istallazione con extender multipli non viene trasmessa alcuna
immagine controlIate ogni tratta verificando che tutti i cavi e gli extender
siano collegati correttamente. Se il problema persiste provate a ridurre la
risoluzione a 800x600. Se a questo punto l’immagine viene visualizzata
correttamente è chiaro che la qualità del segnale video DVI generato
dalla vostra scheda è insufficiente. In questo caso provate ad utilizzare
un cavo DVI più corto (10m) fra la scheda grafica e il primo DVI Extender
e riportate la risoluzione al livello desiderato. In alternativa potete
