Important Safety Instructions
When installing or using this track system, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:
A] Read all instructions.
B] This track system must be installed utilizing the canopy and connectors for mounting over a ceiling outlet box. C] Do not install this track in damp or wet locations. D] Do not install any part of a track system less than 5 feet above the oor. E] Do not install any xture assembly closer than 6 inches from any curtain, or similar combustible material. F] Use MR16 type lamps, 50-watt maximum with 300-watt transformer. G] Disconnect electrical power before adding to or changing the conguration of the track. H] Do not attempt to power anything other than Flex II Track Lighting xtures on the track. To reduce the risk of re and electric shock, do not attempt to connect power tools, extension cords, appliances and the like to the track. I] If you plan to install a dimmer, do so after the Flex II system has been installed to reduce the risk of damage to the dimmer. We recommend using a Lutron magnetic low-voltage dimmer [SLV600-P]

through the cross bar. [Fig.II]
4] Remove the bottom cover from the transformer. [Fig. III]
5] Carefully pull the house wires through center of the threaded pipe in
the transformer. (Fig.IV)
6] Screw the transformer into the crossbar, and tighten. Be very careful
not to damage or rip the wires. [Fig.V - Fig.VI]

Stems
1] Based on your desired design, determine where approximately where the power track will run along the ceiling. [Fig.I]
2] A stem should hold up each end of the track. The remaining stems should be positioned no more than two feet apart. When two tracks are connected, at least one
stem should be placed as close to the connection as possible. [Fig.II]
3] In addition, a stem should be placed at the apex or “peak” of every curve in the track in order to properly support the track’s shape as well as the weight of any
xtures placed along the curves. Heavier xtures should be positioned near stems to support their weight. [Fig.III]
4] After you have mapped the stem locations, drill a 1/8” hole and insert a plastic anchor at each location. Insert a screw through each ceiling mount and into the
plastic anchor. Tighten with a screwdriver until the mount is rmly secured to the ceiling. [Fig. IV]
5] Insert the threaded end of the stem into the ceiling mount. Turn until the stem is rmly secured in the mount. [Fig.V]

Live Feed
The Life Feed carries powers from the transformer into the Flex II track. The track is polarized to t with the live feed. Please check where the metal connectors are on the live feed
before you attempt to insert the Flex II track into the Life Feed. Make sure the metal connectors are aligned properly.
Connecting the Live Feed
1] Make sure the power is turned o before starting work.
2] Insert the Flex II track through the opening in the live feed, making sure the metal
connectors align properly. The metal connectors on the Flex II track should touch the
metal connectors on the live feed. [Fig.1] illustrates proper insertion.
3] After inserting the Flex II track, tighten the screws on the live feed if necessary.
4] Make sure the live feed is mounted on the Flex II track tightly and securely.

Connecting the Live Feed to the Transformer
There is a voltage drop along the feed wire. Use as short a feed wire as possible to minimize
this loss of voltage.
1] Once the live feed is connected to the track, cut the power feed to a desired length, mak-
ing sure to leave some slack in the wire.
2] Strip the outer coating from the end of each feed wire to expose 3/4” of inner core. [Fig. 2]
3] Insert the wires into the connectors on the bottom of the transformer casing, and
tighten set screws [Fig. 3]

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS AND REFER TO THEM WHEN ADDITIONS
TO OR CHANGES IN THE TRACK CONFIGURATION ARE MADE.
1] When mounting the xture make sure the metal connectors align properly with the power
track. The metal connectors on the xture should touch the metal connectors on the ex
track. [Fig. A]
Fig. A Fig. B
Bulbs
Use only the MR16type bulbs specified for use with your fixtures.
2] Remove the cap from the xture and place xture on the track.
3] Replace the cap and tighten. (Fig. B)
Use IRC bulbs for commercial installations.
Follow these instructions during rst-time Flex II Track System installation, or when replacing bulbs:
A] Make sure the power is o.
B] Allow the xture and bulb enough time to cool down.
C] Remove installed xtures from the track.
D] Insert the bulb pins into the xture’s pin holes [Fig. 1] until the bulb is held tightly and securely in place, making sure the bulb is aligned properly. [Fig. 2] Do
not twist the bulb when inserting it into the xture; this may bend the pins and lead to xture failure.
E) Mount the xture on the track according to the instructions in the appropriate section of this manual.

Trobleshooting
Did the breaker on the transformer trip?
• If powering the system with more than one feed, make sure isolating connectors are separating each feed
• Check that none of the elements are generating a direct short. If any elements have been shortened, check the FreeJack connector
• Check the low-voltage side of the transformer with a voltmeter to ensure voltage does not exceed 12 or 24 volts
Is an individual element not working?
• Check that the lamp is installed securely
• Check the lamp to see if it has burned out
• Check the FreeJack connector for proper contact
Did the breaker on the main panel trip?
• Make sure the circuit has not been overloaded
• Change the breaker in the panel to an inductive load breaker
Is the system still not working? Why not try checking the basics?
• Check the light switch (or cord switch on a plug-in transformer)
• Make sure the power feeds from the transformer to the rail are tightly connected
• Check for loose wire nuts in the junction box, canopy, or transformer cover
• Make sure the transformer’s 120 volt side is wired correctly

Dimming Issues
• There are two kinds of low voltage dimmers. If you wish to attach a dimmer to your Flex II system, make sure to use the correct ver-
sion: a magnetic dimmer should only be used with a magnetic transofrmer. Likewise, an electronic dimmer should only be used with
an electronic transformer. Using the wrong dimmer will substantially shorten transformer life.
• The dimmer should be placed on the input line BEFORE the transformer.
Reducing Dimmer Noise
Dimmers can generate a buzzing noise that some people may nd disturbing. To reduce buzzing, we recommend:
• using the dimmer type compatible with the transformer;
• adding debuzzing dimmer coil in series. This coil is included with all our magnetic surface transformers;
• Loading the system to at least 80 % of capacity. For example, a 300 watt transformer should have at least 240 watt load.
