DESCRIPTION
The FXLD1218FR5I is a R GBWA LED light ing fixture. It is suitable for stage, hou se of wors hip, entertain ment venues, and other ar tistic applications. It has sever al stand-alone control modes and can operate via a DMX512 external signal.
A double yoke enables the fixture to be operated in several positions.
INSTALLATION
LOCATION
Locate the unit indoors in a wel l ventilated area away from moisture and heat. Keep the vent holes clear. Holes are provided on the y okes to install a lighting bar pipe clamp. When hangin g fixture, use a safety cable to the provided safety eye inserted in the rear of the fixture.
POWER CONNECTIONS
THE LINE CORD IS RATED FOR 7 AMPS MAXIMUM THE SAFETY GROUND TERMINAL ON THE PO WER
CABLE MUST BE USED.
DMX CONNECTIONS
A system using D MX contr ol sh ould be co nnect ed as a chain of devices. In other words, the control signal cable proceeds from the co ntroller to t he first rece iving device and then to others in one continuous chain.
The fixture has a DM X IN and a DMX OUT connector to be used to connect the chain. The control cable should NOT be split into a multiple run star arrangement with a cable running from the controller directly to each receiving device.
DMX CONNECTOR PIN ASSIGNMENTS
The FXLD1218FR5I receives a DMX signal on the 3 pin MALE connector on one side of the unit. The 3 pi n FEMALE connector is used to connect the next DMX device on the control chain.
The FXLD1218FR5I has a blue turn and lock connector for power in put. A com patibl e power cable is provided for connec tion to a 120 VAC, 15 Amp, 60H z, grounded service. Push the blue connector on the cable straight into the blue connector on the unit and twist approx. 1/8 turn clockwise to latch it.
The white turn and lock connector on the u nit is used to pass power on to another FXLD1218FR5I unit. A mating white connector is also provided.

DMX TERMINATION
A DMX chain shoul d be t erminated at the las t r ece iv in g device on the chain. This is done by installing a 1/4 Watt, 120 Ohm resistor across the DATA - a nd DATA + wires at the last device. If you have only a few fixtures very close tog ether and a very short r un to the

controller, then you may be ab le to oper ate wit hout th e terminator.
OPERATION
A control panel on the back of the unit is used to set the operating options. It consists of an LED display and four buttons (MENU, UP, DOWN, and ENTER).

Color Change (CC01)
The color change mode cycles through a variety of colors at a user defined sp eed. Use t he CC01 menu t o set the speed at which the color s chan ge. Th e range is from 00 to 99 with 99 as the fastest.
Color Select (CS01)
For additional manual operations you can use the Color Select menu (CS01) to select a color and level.
R, G, B, W, A MANUAL LEVEL CONTROL
Push MENU to access the operating options. When you reach the option yo u want to set or change - use UP or DOWN to set a value. Push ENTER to save your changes and activate the option. See the "MENU NAVIGATION" diagram for additional details.
There are 8 operation mod es: DMX 5 chann el, DMX 9 channel, Color Fade, Color Change, Color Select, Manual Level (5 selections), Demo, & Sound Mode.
The display will default to 0XXC, this indicates the current LED plate temperat ure. The fan on the u nit wil l only turn on when t emperat ure is at or abov e 45℃ and will turn back off at or below 34. The display will go blank after 30 seconds with no buttons pushed.
DMX OPERATION For DMX operation th e FXLD1218FR5I fixture can be
configured as a 5 channel or 9 channel unit. Use the dxxx (5 ch) or A.xxx (9 c h) menu to set the
starting address of the un it. You c an sel ec t the s tar t in g address of the unit with the UP and DOWN buttons.
In DMX operation, a flashing decimal on the display indicates that there is NO DMX signal present. The decimal will be off when a DMX signal is present.
Detailed information on DMX channel operation is given in the tables DMX VALUES AND FUNCTIO NS.
MANUAL OPERATION COLOR FADE (CF01)
The Color Fade mode cycles smoothly through a sequence of colors. Use the CF01 menu to set the

Individual color levels can be contr olled manually usin g the r000, g000, b000, E000, and Y000 menus. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to change the level, then push ENTER when done. The range is 000 - 255.
DEMO MODE (dENo)
The Demo mode is a stand-alone mode designed to test the unit. The Demo m ode wi ll not work if the u nit is receiving DMX. Return back to DMX operation to exit Demo mode.
SOUND MODE (Soun)
The unit reacts to sounds by cycling through preprogrammed color selections at full brightness.
Sound mode can als o be activated i n 9 channel mode with DMX channel 9 set to 240-255. Intensity can be controlled with DMX channel 1 (0-255).
Dimmer Delay (dEL0)
The operation of this function has been discontinued.
MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR
TROUBLESHOOTING
Check that you have power applied to the unit. Check the DMX control cable. (In DMX mode, the decimal LED on the display will flash if no DMX is present). Check the address settings of the unit and the controller.

REPAIR
The fixture contains a 2 Amp 250VAC, fast acting, 5mm x 20 mm externally accessible fus e. Replace the fuse ONLY with the same size and type.
9 CHANNEL MODE (MODE A.XXX)
The FXLD1218FR5I does not contain any other user serviceable parts. Internal service on the unit by oth er than Lightronics authorized agents will void the warranty.
