INTRODUCTION

Congratulations on your choice of the Liebert Universal Serial Bus
Adapter Card (P/N#: USBCARD).

The USB card works with Windows-based PC operating systems.
By using the built-in Windows Power Management software on Win-

dows™ 2000/XP platforms, the user can monitor the UPS via the USB
card.

Items included with shipment are:

• Intellislot™ USB card in an antistatic bag

• User Manual

• USB cable, 6-foot
The Intellislot USB card provides one USB port for your Liebert UPS.

This device is specially designed and tested to function in the Liebert
Intellislot port of the following supported UPS units:

• UPStation GXT2U™

• UPStation GXT™

• PowerSure Interactive™
After receiving shipment, please inspect product for any damaged or

missing parts. If any items are damaged, call Liebert Corporation at
800-222-5877 and select the Warranty Support option from the menu.
If components are missing, contact your sales representative for
replacement.

NOTE

The UPS serial communication port (DB-9) is disabled when
the Intellislot USB card is installed. The Intellislot USB card
must be removed to enable the DB-9 communication port to
communicate with other Liebert software or the UPStation
GXT 2U Configuration Program.

INSTALLATION

•USB cable

Tools required

• Either #2 (medium) Phillips or small flat head screw driver.

1. It is not necessary to turn
the UPS off prior to instal­lation. Locate the Intellis­lot Port on the rear panel
of your UPS. (Location and
orientation may vary
according to specific UPS
model.)

2. Remove the two retaining
screws of the Intellislot
Port cover plate on the
UPS back panel. Save the

screws for reassembly.

3. The card and slot are
keyed to insert in one posi­tion only. Initially, the
card should slide in freely
as you carefully align
screw holes. As you feel it
click into place, press
firmly to ensure solid seating in the slot.

4. Using the screwdriver, secure the card to the UPS chassis with the
two retaining screws. Make sure the screws are snug, not tight, to
avoid damage to the device.

CONFIGURATION

Connect USB Cable

Connect the Intellislot USB card to an available USB port on the com­puter using the included USB cable.

Configure Power Management for Automated Shutdown

1. Open the Power Options Properties window by clicking on Start,
then Settings, Control Panel and, finally, Power Options.

2. In the Power Options Properties window, select the Power Meter
tab.

a. Click on the Battery icon in the Power status window.

b. The Detailed Battery information window appears. Verify the

Battery Name is “USB Intellislot Card,” and the Manufacturer is
“LIEBERT.”

c. Click the OK button to return to the Power Options Properties

window.

3. In the Power Options Properties window, select the Alarms tab.

4. Two alarms are available to perform automated OS shutdown: Low
battery alarm and Critical battery alarm.

An automated shutdown can be performed on either alarm.

5. To enable automated shutdown for either alarm, select the associated
Alarm Action button for the alarm you would like to configure.

a. Enable the Alarm Action by checking the box next to “When the

Alarm goes off, the computer will:”
b. Select Shut Down from the drop down menu
c. Click OK to save the changes and close the Alarm Action window.

6. Click the Apply button on the Power Options Properties window,
then click on the OK button to exit.
