Important Information about your ECO2 Batteries

General Battery Statistics

 Battery Type: Lithium Ion
 Battery Information: 2 batteries present in the ECO2. An Internal Battery that is

never removed from the case and a Removable Battery that is hot-swappable.

 Daily Battery Life: up to 8 hours with standard backlight settings and continuous

use. It depends entirely upon how much you are using your device. If you are
talking, listening to MP3s, playing a DVD and using a computer all at the same, or
nearly the same time, your batteries will not last as long as they will if you are
mostly doing just one thing on your device for most of the day. You may find that
you use your device so heavily that you only get 2-4 hours out of a single charge.

 Charging Time: 9-10 hours to completely charge a device from a dead battery to a

fully-charged battery.

 Battery Life Span: approximately 18 to 24 months (consistent with industry

guidelines of 24 months as the average lifespan for Lithium Ion batteries). Dependant on

charge cycles, lack of charges, and the number of charges, hence it’s impossible to

predict accurately.

Charging

 Charger: two-part charger consisting of a kettle lead and a power-supply unit.
 Battery Status: within the Maintenance Menu is the Battery Menu that displays the

amount of charge of each battery. The Removable Battery Door (found on the right­side of the device) has a window that displays bars indicating its level of charge.

 Low Battery Warning: a two-toned running beep is emitted from the device. The

device will not allow you to do any programming/storing. The warning sounds at
intervals until the batteries are dead. When the batteries are dead, the device
powers down completely and cannot be used.

IMPORTANT!! Forcing the charger tip in too far will damage your charger socket!

 Charging Tips:

i. Always use the battery charger that came with your device. Any other

charger may damage your batteries.

ii. Always ensure that the two parts of the charger are securely plugged in

together.

iii. Allow 9-10hours to completely charge a device from flat to fully-charged.
iv. Aim to charge your device (with both batteries present) at least once

a day, even if you have a spare removable battery.

Hot Swappable Battery

 Details: this is a spare removable battery that

may be purchased with a spare battery charger.
This allows you to replace your removable battery
with a fully charged ‘spare’, if you find that you are using your device to the extent
that you can't keep your removable battery charged long enough for your use.

 Removing and replacing the Battery

i. To open the battery door (found on the right side

of the case), press down on door with both thumbs
and slide the door off the end of the case.

ii. Pull on the battery tab that is attached to the end

of the battery. The battery will slide out of the case.
IMPORTANT! A yellow message box will appear on your display screen
telling you that the battery door is off the case. The Battery Graph in the
Status Display Area will show all red lines.

iii. Slide the replacement battery in so the pull-tab on one end is visible when

the battery is in place.

iv. Replace the battery door by lining it up on the case.

v. Place your thumb on the end of the door nearest the edge of the case and

push the door into its slots. You may need to use the edge of the case for
leverage. The door should fit tightly.

 Hot Swappable Battery usage Tips

i. Ideally, you should aim to swap your battery only once a day.

ii. If you fail to replace the removable battery door, the removable battery

will not work. The device will solely be powered by the internal battery
which will give you much less battery life than when both batteries are
working

iii. Aim to charge your device with both batteries in, at least once a day.

Failure to charge your device, and continually using just the removable
battery means:

a. Your device will only be running on half of its charge capacity as

the internal battery will be completely flat at all times.

b. The life-span of the internal battery will be halved as a result of a

lack of charge.

c. The life-span of the removable battery will be halved as it is being

expected to solely carry the charging load.

d. You will eventually have to purchase replacement batteries as

Liberator will not cover premature battery failure.
