Most appliances recommend they be placed upon a dedicated circuit;
That is, a single outlet circuit which powers only that appliance and has no additional outlets or branch circuits. Check the specication page of this owner’s manual to be certain. Battery Installation
1. Turn the battery compartment lid counterclockwise by using a coin. Then take the battery compartment lid out.
2. Insert and fix the battery with the plus(+) facing in the same direction as the plus(+) on the battery compartment lid.
3. Put the battery compartment lid on the remote control and turn it clockwise to close.

Do not open the battery compartment lid by using your nger. Or else, your nail would be broken.

You must affix a big core (supplied with the model you purchased) in order to reduce or eliminate electrical interference.
1. Pull the stopper [a] of the ferrite core to open.
2. Wind the power cord around the ferrite core once.
3. Close the ferrite core until it clicks.

Setting the Clock Automatically

yIn auto clock synchronization, “LG Bluetooth

Setting the Clock by Synchronizing with Your iPod/iPhone/iPad
Connect the iPod/iPhone/iPad rmly. Then the clock setting in the control panel will synchronize with your iPod/iPhone/iPad.

The synchronized time may be slightly different from that of your iPod/iPhone/iPad.
Setting the Clock Manually
If necessary, you can set the clock manually.
1. Press and hold Clock on the back panel for two seconds.
-The clock digits begin to blink.
2. Press / to select the 12/24 hour format.
-12:00 (for a PM display) or 0:00 (for a 24 hour display)
3. Press .
-The hour digits begin to blink.
4. Press / to set the hour.
5. Press .
-The minutes digits begin to blink.

Setting the Clock through “LG Bluetooth Remote” App
Install “LG Bluetooth Remote” app on your iPod touch/iPhone/iPad or your Android device. (see page 27-28)
Your unit’s clock will be automatically synchronized with your device by activating Bluetooth connection through “LG Bluetooth Remote” app.

You can enjoy the sound from your iPod/iPhone/ iPad through this unit. For details about iPod/ iPhone/iPad, refer to the iPod/iPhone/iPad User Guide.

iPad stable before you place the iPad.
1. Connect the iPod/iPhone/iPad firmly. When this unit is connected to power, your iPod/iPhone/ iPad is automatically turned on and starts recharging even in standby mode.

Using AirPlay
Apple AirPlay technology enables you to play your iTunes music library, hosted on a Mac, PC, iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad on any AirPlay-enabled device (for example, your ND8520) connected to the Wi-Fi network.
To stream audio wirelessly by AirPlay, you need :
y A Wi-Fi certified router
y A host for your iTunes music library, for example,
an iPod touch/iPhone/iPad installed with iOS
4.3.3 (or later) or a Wi-Fi enabled PC/Mac installed with iTunes 10.2.2 (or later)
Compatible iPod/iPhone/iPad
The unit supports the models as follows ;
yiPod touch 3G, 4G yiPhone 3GS yiPhone 4 / iPhone 4S yiPad / iPad 2
This unit should be connected to the same local network as your iTunes host device through the Wi-Fi router.

Depending on the kind and operating system or the application’s version and the setting status of AirPlay-enabled device connected to this unit, AirPlay may not be operated normally.
Connect to your home Wi-Fi network for AirPlay
To connect this unit to your existing home Wi-Fi network, you need to apply your home Wi-Fi setting to this unit.
Once connected successfully, this unit will remember your home Wi-Fi settings. Then you can enjoy AirPlay whenever this unit is powered on and connected to your home Wi-Fi network automatically.
Before connection of this unit to your home Wi-Fi network, check the points below.
1. Make sure that your Wi-Fi router is powered on and working properly.
2. Make sure that this unit has been powered on and booted up successfully.
Connecting to your home Wi-Fi router
To connect this unit to a Wi-Fi router, you need access to this unit’s built-in configuration web page for change of its internal Wi-Fi settings. To do so, you need a Wi-Fi enabled device with an Internet browser for temporary Wi-Fi connection to this unit. The Wi-Fi enabled device can be an iPod touch/ iPhone/iPad or a Wi-Fi enabled PC/Mac.
Follow the sequence below for connection of this unit to your home Wi-Fi router
1. Collect settings of your home Wi-Fi router and write down on paper for use during this unit Wi­Fi setup (see “Collect settings of your home Wi­Fi router” on page 14).
2. Switch this unit to Assisted Wi-Fi Setup mode (see “Switch this unit to Assisted Wi-Fi Setup mode” on page 14).
-A new Wi-Fi network created by this unit will appear, with the network name (SSID) of “LG AUDIO Setup XXXXXX”.
3. Connect your Wi-Fi enabled device to the created new Wi-Fi network temporarily (see “Connect your Wi-Fi enabled device to the newly created Wi-Fi network” on page 15).
4. Open the built-in web page of this unit with the Internet Browser of your Wi-Fi enabled device (see “Open the built-in web page of this unit” on page 17).
5. Connect your unit (ND8520) to the available Wi-Fi network based on the settings you wrote on paper at step 1 (see “Connect your unit (ND8520) to the available Wi-Fi network” on page 18).
6. Restore your Wi-Fi enabled device back to your existing home Wi-Fi settings (see “Restore your Wi-Fi enabled device back to your existing home Wi-Fi setting” on page 20).

Collect settings of your home Wi-Fi router

1. Connect your Wi-Fi enabled device to your existing home Wi-Fi network.

2. Launch the Internet browser (for example,

Apple Safari or Microsoft Internet Explorer) on your Wi-Fi enabled device.
3. Open the configuration page of your home Wi-Fi router.
4. Find the Wi-Fi settings tab and write down the following information on paper :
-Network name (SSID)
-Wi-Fi security mode (usually WEP, WPA or WPA2 if enabled)
-If the security mode of your home Wi-Fi router is “WEP”, this unit supports only “OPEN”.
-Wi-Fi password (if Wi-Fi security is enabled)
-DHCP mode (enabled or disabled)
-Static IP address settings (if DHCP mode is disabled)
Switch this unit to Assisted Wi-Fi Setup mode
1. Press PFUNCTION or P to select “AIR” function.
2. Press and hold, and release on the control panel of this unit until “STEP1” message appears.
-Airplay icon blinks and “STEP1” message appears on the control panel of this unit.
-A new Wi-Fi network of this unit itself is created, with the network name (SSID) of “LG AUDIO Setup XXXXXX”.
-It takes about 30 seconds and more for successful creation of this new Wi-Fi network.

After you finish manual Wi-Fi setting for this unit, this new Wi-Fi network disappears.

Connect your Wi-Fi enabled device to the newly created Wi-Fi network
The new Wi-Fi network created by this unit only allows access of one Wi-Fi enabled device. To avoid interference from any other Wi-Fi devices, you are recommended to temporarily disable the Wi-Fi function on your other Wi-Fi devices.

y“LG AUDIO Setup XXXXXX” is the temporary
and assistant Wi-Fi network for connection of this unit to your home Wi-Fi router.
yWhile your iPod touch/iPhone/iPad or your
Wi-Fi enabled PC/Mac is connecting to “LG AUDIO Setup XXXXXX” network, you can not be able to use the Internet on them.
Option 1 : Use your iPod touch/iPhone/iPad
1. Select “Settings” -> “Wi-Fi” on your iPod touch/ iPhone/iPad.
2. Select “LG AUDIO Setup XXXXXX” from the list of available networks.

3. Wait until successful Wi-Fi connection on your iPod touch/iPhone/iPad.

Open the built-in web page of this unit
1. Launch Apple Safari browser or Microsoft Internet Explorer browser on your Wi-Fi enabled device.
2. Type in “192.168.1.111” at the browser address bar and confirm.
-This unit conguration web page is displayed.
2. Tick “Include Bonjour” for “Bookmarks bar”.
3. Select “LG AUDIO XXXXXX“ from the Bonjour pull-down list shown at the bookmarks bar.
-This unit conguration web page is displayed.

Listening to the Radio
1. Press PFUNCTION or P repeatedly until FM appears in the control panel. The last received station is tuned in.
2. Auto tuning : Press / for about 2 seconds until the frequency indication starts changing,
then release. Scanning stops when the unit tunes in a station.
Manual tuning : Press / repeatedly.
3. Adjust the volume by pressing -/+ (Volume).
Presetting the Radio Stations
You can store up to 10 FM preset stations.
Before tuning, make sure that you have turned down the volume.
1. Press PFUNCTION or P repeatedly until FM appears in the control panel.
2. Select the desired frequency by using / .
3. Press MEMORY. A preset number will blink in the control panel.
4. Press FOLDER/PRESET W/S to select the preset number you want.
5. Press MEMORY. The station is stored.
6. Repeat the steps 2 to 5 to store other stations.
Press FOLDER/PRESET W/S to select a preset station.
Deleting All the Saved Stations
Press and hold MEMORY for two seconds. “CLR” will ash up. Press MEMORY again. Then all the saved stations are deleted.

Before you start the pairing procedure, make sure the Bluetooth feature is turned on in to your Bluetooth device. Refer to your Bluetooth device’s user guide. Once a pairing operation is performed, it does not need to be performed again.

Using Your Unit as an Alarm Clock
1. Make sure that you have set the clock correctly. (See “Setting the Clock” on page 11.)
2. Press and hold Alarm On/O on the back panel.
3. The alarm sound sources blink. (FM (Tuner)/ USB/IPOD). While each of sound sources blinks,
select the one you want by pressing . If you select FM (Tuner) mode, you can select the station you preset by pressing / and
then press to save.
4. “ON (Time)” setting is displayed. The hour setting blinks. Press / to select
