Getting to know your phone
Caution: Placing a heavy object on your mobile phone or keeping it in your pocket may affect the functions of its LCD display and touch screen.
Answer key
Make or answer a call.
Clear key
Delete texts or digits from the display and return to the upper­level menus.
End/Power key
Press and hold it to power on or off your mobile phone. Press it to end a conversation or reject an incoming call. Press it to return to the standby screen.

Installing the UIM and battery
1 Removing battery compartment
cover
As shown in the figure below,
remove the battery compartment cover.
3 Installing UIM card
Insert the UIM card into the UIM card slot. Ensure that the golden contact area faces downwards.
2 Removing battery
Lift the battery bottom and take it
out from the battery compartment.
Caution: Do not take out the battery when your mobile phone is powered on to avoid damaging your mobile phone.

4 Installing battery
Insert the battery top into the top
of the battery compartment. Ensure that the battery contact point aligns with the top of the battery compartment. Press the battery bottom until the battery clicks into place.

Slide the battery compartment
cover along the bottom of your mobile phone until it clicks into place.
6 Charging
Open the cover of the charger
slot on the side of the . Insert the charger and plug it into a mains electricity socket. Your LG510 needs to be charged until “Charging Complete!” appears on screen.

microSD card
Installing microSD card
Using a microSDTM card can expand the available storage space of your mobile phone.
To insert a microSD card, insert it into the card slot until it clicks into place. Ensure that the golden contact area faces upwards, as shown in the figure.

Formatting microSD card
If your microSD card has been formatted, you can use it. If you microSD card is not formatted, format it first.

Standby screen
Whenever your LG510 is not in use it will return to standby screen. From here you can access all the menu options, make a quick call and view the status of your phone as well as many other things.
Touch screen tips
The home screen is also a great place to get accustomed to the touch screen.
To select an item, touch the icon accurately. Your LG510 will vibrate slightly when it recognises you’ve touched an option.
To scroll through lists, touch the last item visible and slide your finger up the screen. The list will move up so more items are visible.

When you touch , Hello UI widget panel appears.
To assign a Hello UI:
1 Touch a Hello UI on the panel. It’ll
move to the Home screen.
2 Touch the Hello UI. Address book
opens.
3 Select the contact to add. Address
book is closed and you will see the contact on the Hello UI.

Text Entry Modes
When using a mobile phone, you always need to enter texts. For example, write a message, enter the name to be saved in the Contacts, and write a memo. There are 4 ways to enter text : Keypad,Continuous mode ,Screen mode,Keyboard. You can choose your input method by tapping

to turn on T9 predictive mode on the keypad. In T9 mode you will see

to recognise words you’re writing based on the key sequences you touch. Simply touch the number key associated with the letter you want to enter, and the dictionary will predict the word you want to use. For example, press

In Keyboard mode a full keyboard appears on screen. Simply touch each letter to write your message and touch:

Text Entry Modes
In screen mode you simply write on the screen and your LG510 will convert your handwriting into your message. Select Conti mode or Screen mode depending on your preferred view.
TIP:
You may find it easier to use the touch pen in this mode, please remember to press lightly to protect your screen from damage. Handwriting recognition translates touch pen gestures into letters, numbers or other character, and displays these characters as text. Handwriting recognition is only active where text can be entered.
NOTE: Most letters can be written using different stroke styles. See the tables below. The position on the screen decides case, not the style.

If you select capital letter mode ( A ), letters you type will be inserted as capital letters even if you write in small letters, and vice versa.

Browser Menus
To acess browser menus touch on right corner arrow mark or .
Go to: Allows entry of URL to access a specific web page.
Recent pages: Goes to the recently visited web page.

History: Displays the list of visited web pages.
Bookmarks: You can add bookmarks. Push inbox: Allows you to view WAP
messages. Multi-windows: Opens another
window for another web-browsing. Scrap: Allows you to scrap the current
web page. News feeds: Allows you to create/edit
RSS web sites.
NOTE: RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated content such as blog entries, news headlines or podcasts. An RSS document, or channel, contains either a summary of content from an associated web site or the full text. RSS makes it possible for people to keep up with their favourite web sites automatically. It is much easier than checking them manually. User subscribes to a feed by entering the feed’s link into the reader or by clicking an RSS icon in a browser that initiates the subscription process. The reader checks the user’s subscribed feeds regularly for new content, downloading any updates that it finds.
Tools: Allows you to use the options like Search in page, Browser information, Page information, and so on.
Display: Allows you to set how to display web browser. Zooming is available.
Settings: Allow you to change the
web browser settings. Copy text on: Functions as a
clipboard. Exit browser: Exits the browser. Press and hold
