How to Use the Joystick Button

You can easily control the functions of the monitor by pressing the joystick button or moving it left/right with your finger.

Moving and Lifting the Monitor

When moving or lifting the monitor, follow these instructions to prevent the monitor from being scratched or damaged and to ensure safe trans­portation, regardless of its shape or size.
yIt is advisable to place the monitor in the
original box or packing material before attempting to move it.
yBefore moving or lifting the monitor,
disconnect the power cord and all cables.
yHold the top and bottom of the monitor frame
firmly. Do not hold the panel itself.
CAUTION
yAvoid touching the monitor screen as much
as possible. Do not apply pressure.
- This may result in damage to the screen or some of the pixels used to create images.
yIf you use the monitor panel without the stand
base, its joystick button may cause the moni­tor to become unstable and fall, resulting in damage to the monitor or human injury. In addition, this may cause the joystick button to malfunction.

yWhen holding the monitor, the screen should
face away from you to prevent it from being scratched.
yWhen transporting the monitor, do not ex-
pose the monitor to jolts or excessive vibra­tion.
yWhen moving the monitor, keep it upright and
never turn the monitor on its side or tilt it side­ways.

Installing the Monitor

Assembling the Stand Base

Place the screen face down.

Rotate the Stand Body 90˚ counter clockwise.

yTo protect the screen from scratches, cover

when rotating the Stand Body, the stand body does not make contact with the head.

yApplying excessive force when tightening
screws may cause damage to the monitor. Damage caused in this way will not be cov­ered by the product warranty.

Detaching the Stand Base

Place the screen face down.

CAUTION
yTo protect the screen from scratches, cover
the surface with a soft cloth.

left to detach the Stand Base from the Stand
Body.

Installing on to a Table

Lift the monitor and place it on the table in an

upright position. Place at least 10 cm away from the wall to ensure sufficient ventilation.

CAUTION
yThe components in the illustrations may differ
from the actual product.
yDo not carry the monitor upside down, as this
may cause it to fall off its stand and result in damage or injury.
yTo avoid damaging the screen when lifting
or moving the monitor, only hold the stand or the plastic cover. This avoids putting unnecessary pressure on the screen.
Connect the Power Cord to a wall outlet.

Press the (Power) button on the bottom of

the monitor to turn it on.

yTo avoid the risk of electric shock, disconnect
the Power Cord before moving or installing the monitor.

Adjusting the Stand Height

Place the monitor mounted on the stand base

in an upright position.
Push the Head downward and pull out the

yOnce the pin is removed, it is not necessary
to re-insert it to adjust the height.
yProblems with the height or angle adjustment
of the product caused by the attachment of protective glass in Internet cafes specializing in gaming will not be covered by the warranty.

your fingers or hand between the head and the base when adjusting the screen's height.
The height can be adjusted up to 100.0 mm.

Adjusting the Angle

Place the monitor in an upright position, mount-

ed on the stand base.
Adjust the angle of the screen. The angle of

the screen can be adjusted forwards or back­wards from -5° to 20° for a comfortable viewing experience.

Tidying Cables

Use the screw provided to attach the cable

holder to the stand body as illustrated.

yBe careful not to touch or press the screen
area when adjusting the angle of the moni­tor.
Gather and bind the cables with the supplied

Pivot Feature

The pivot feature allows the monitor to rotate 90° clockwise.

yTo avoid scratching the stand base, make
sure that when rotating the monitor using the pivot feature, the stand does not make contact with the monitor.
Rotate the monitor clockwise as shown in the

figure.
Complete the installation by rotating the

monitor 90° as shown below.
Raise the monitor to the maximum height.

Adjust the angle of the monitor in the direction

of the arrow as shown in the figure.
NOTE
yAuto Pivot feature of the display is not
supported.
yThe screen can be rotated easily using the
screen pivot shortcut key provided with your Windows operating system. Note that some Windows versions may use different settings for the screen pivot key or may not support the pivot key at all.

yTake care when rotating the monitor if the
cable is connected.
yTo avoid injury when rotating the display, do
not place your fingers between the display and the stand base.

Using the Kensington Lock

The Kensington security system connector is locat­ed at the back of the Monitor set. For more information on installation and usage, refer to the Kensington lock user manual or visit the website at http://www.kensington.com.

Detaching the Stand Body

Place the monitor's screen face down. To

protect the screen from scratches, cover the surface with a soft cloth.
Using a screwdriver, remove the four screws

and detach the stand from the monitor.

Connect the Kensington security system cable between the Monitor and a table.
NOTE
yThe Kensington security system is optional.
You can obtain additional accessories from most electronics stores.

Installing the Wall Mount Plate

This monitor meets the specifications for the wall mount plate or other compatible devices.
Place the screen face down. To protect the

screen from scratches, cover the surface with a soft cloth.
Place the wall mount plate onto the monitor
2
and align it with the screw holes.
Tighten the four screws to fix the plate to the
3
monitor using a screwdriver.

Installing on the Wall

Install the monitor at least 10 cm away from the wall and leave about 10 cm of space at each side of the monitor to ensure sufficient ventilation. Detailed installation instructions can be obtained from your local retail store. Alternatively, please refer to the manual for how to install and set up a tilting wall mounting bracket.

To install the monitor to a wall, attach a wall mounting bracket (optional) to the back of the monitor. Make sure that the wall mounting bracket is securely fixed to the monitor and to the wall.

yThe wall mount plate is sold separately. yFor more information on installation, refer to

yBe careful not to apply too much force while
mounting the wall mount plate as it may cause damage to the screen
If you use screws longer than the standard

length, it may damage the inside of the prod­uct.
A non-VESA standard screw may damage the

product and cause the monitor to fall. LG Electronics is not liable for any accidents relating to the use of non-standard screws.

screws may cause damage to the monitor. Damage caused in this way will not be cov­ered by the product warranty.
yUse the wall mounting bracket and screws
that conform to VESA standards. Damage caused by the use or misuse of inappropri­ate components will not be covered by the product warranty.
yTo prevent injury, this apparatus must be
securely attached to the wall in accordance with the instrallation instructions. (This per­tains only to Australia and New Zealand.)
yWhen measured from the back of the moni-
tor, the length of each installed screw must be 8 mm or less.

CAUTION
yDo not press on the screen for a prolonged
period of time. This may cause image distor­tion.
yDo not display a still image on the screen for
a prolonged period of time. This may cause image retention. Use a screensaver if pos­sible.
NOTE
yWhen connecting the power cord to the out-
let, use a grounded (3-hole) multi-socket or a grounded power outlet.
yThe monitor may flicker when turned on in an
area of low temperature. This is normal.
ySometimes red, green, or blue spots may ap-
pear on the screen. This is normal.

Connecting to a PC

yThis monitor supports the *Plug and Play
feature. *Plug and Play: A feature that allows you to
add a device to your computer without having to reconfigure anything or install any manual drivers.

HDMI Connection

Transmits digital video and audio signals from your PC to the monitor. Connect your PC to the monitor using the HDMI cable as shown in the illustration below.

DisplayPort Connection

Transmits digital video and audio signals from your PC to the monitor. Connect the monitor to your PC using the display port cable as shown in the illustration below:

yThere may be no video or audio output
depending on the DP (DisplayPort) version of the PC.
yWhen using a Mini DP to DP (Mini

Transmits the analog video signal from your PC to the monitor. Connect the monitor to the PC using the provided 15-pin D-Sub signal cable as illustrated below.

HDMI Connection

HDMI transmits digital video and audio signals from your AV device to the monitor. Connect your AV device to the monitor using the HDMI cable as shown in the illustration below.

Connecting Peripherals

USB Cable Connection - PC

The USB port on the product functions as a USB hub.
NOTE
yMake sure to install the most recent Windows
OS service pack before using the product.
yPeripheral devices are sold separately. yA keyboard, mouse, or USB device can be
connected to the USB port.

Cautions When Using a USB Device
yA USB device with an automatic recognition
program installed or that uses its own driver may not be recognized.
ySome USB devices may not be supported or
may not work properly.
yIt is recommended to use a USB hub or hard
disk drive with an external power supply. (If the power supply is not adequate, the USB device may not be recognized properly.)
To use USB 3.0, connect the A-B type USB 3.0 cable of the product to the PC. Peripheral devices connected to the USB 1, 2 port can be controlled from the PC.

Use the headphone port to connect a peripheral
device to the monitor. Connect as illustrated.

To view the OSD menu, press the Joystick Button on the bottom of the monitor and then enter the

Configure the options by moving the joystick up/down/left/right.

If you want to configure an upper menu or another option, move the joystick ◄ or press it ( / OK).

Wide Displays the video in wide screen, regardless of the video signal input.
Original Displays the video according to the aspect ratio of the video signal input.
1:1 The aspect ratio is not adjusted from the original.
NOTE
This function is not available when the DAS mode is turned on. To use the 1:1

mode, you should turn the DAS mode off.
NOTE
yThe display may look the same for Wide, Original, and 1:1 options at the recommended resolution
(1920 x 1080).
yRatio is disabled with an interlaced signal.

Game Mode Gamer
1, 2, 3
Brightness, Contrast, Sharpness, Gamma, Color Temp, Black Stabilizer, Response Time, DAS Mode, and Motion 240 functions can be customized as Gamer 1, 2, or 3.
FPS 1 Game Mode functions are optimized for FPS games.
FPS 2 The Black Stabilizer value is greater than that of FPS 1. It is suitable for very dark FPS
games.
RTS Game Mode functions are optimized for RTS games.
NOTE
Use the GAME MODE button on the front of the monitor to quickly select and switch be-

Motion 240 On This mode minimizes motion blur in fast-moving videos. This function only works for
Off Turns Motion 240 Mode off.
frame rates (vertical frequency) of 100 Hz and 120 Hz. To take full advantage of this function, select 1920 × 1080 @ 120 Hz for DisplayPort (DP) or DVI inputs before enabling Motion 240.

Response Time Sets a response time for displayed pictures based on the speed of the screen. For a normal
environment, it is recommended that you use Middle. For a fast-moving picture, it is recom­mended that you use High. Setting the response time to High may cause image sticking.

Low Sets the response time to Low.
Off Does not use the response time improvement feature.

Nothing is displayed on the screen.
Is the monitor's power cord plugged in?
Is the power LED on?

Are some functions not available when you press the Menu button?
yCheck if the power cord is correctly plugged in to the power outlet. yConfirm there is power available at the AC plug by plugging in a lamp
or another electrical device.
yCheck the power cable connection and press the power button..
yCheck that the connected input is enabled (Menu - Input).
yIf the monitor is in power-saving mode, move the mouse or press
any key on the keyboard to switch the display on.
yCheck if the computer is turned on.
yThis occurs when signals transferred from the PC (video card) are
out of the horizontal or vertical frequency range of the monitor. Please see the Product Specification section of this manual to set the appropriate frequency.
yThis is displayed when the signal cable between the PC and the
monitor is missing or disconnected. Check the cable and reconnect.
yThe OSD is locked. Go to Menu > Settings and set OSD Lock to Off.
The screen retains an image.
Does image sticking occur even when the monitor is turned off?
Screen display is unstable and shaky / Images displayed on the monitor leave shadow trails.
Did you select the appropriate reso­lution?
yDisplaying a still image for a prolonged time may cause damage to
the screen, resulting in the retention of the image.
yTo extend the lifetime of the monitor, use a screensaver.
yIf the selected resolution is HDMI 1080i 60/50 Hz (interlaced), the
screen may be flickering. Change the resolution to 1080P or the recommended resolution.
NOTE
yVertical Frequency: In order to display an image, the screen must be refreshed dozens of times per
second like a fluorescent lamp. The number of times the screen is refreshed per second is called vertical frequency or refresh rate and is represented by Hz.
yHorizontal Frequency: The time it takes to display one horizontal line is called the horizontal cycle.
The number of horizontal lines displayed in one second can be calculated by dividing one by the horizontal cycle. This is called horizontal frequency and is represented by kHz.

yCheck if the video card's resolution or frequency is within the range allowed by the monitor and set to
the recommended (optimal) resolution in Control Panel > Display > Settings.
yFailing to set the video card to the recommended (optimal) resolution may result in blurred text, a
dimmed screen, a truncated display area or misalignment of the display.
yThe configuration procedure may differ depending on your computer and/or operating system. Also,
some video cards may not support certain resolutions. If this is the case, contact the manufacturer of the computer or video card for assistance.
ySome video cards may not support 1920 x 1080 resolution.
If the resolution cannot be displayed, contact the manufacturer of your video card.
The display color is abnormal.
Does the display appear discolored (16 color)?
Does the display color appear un­stable or in monochrome?
Are there spots on the screen?
ySet the color to 24 bit (true color) or higher. In Windows, go to Control
Panel > Display > Settings > Color Quality.
yCheck if the signal cable is connected properly. Reconnect the cable
or reinsert the PC's video card.
yWhen using the monitor, pixilated spots (red, green, blue, white, or
black) may appear on the screen. This is normal for the LCD screen. It is not an error nor is it related to the monitor's performance.

Are the D-Sub and DVI connected?
Are images displayed using DP (DisplayPort) or HDMI input without sound?
yD-Sub and DVI do not support audio. yAudio may not be supported, depending on the type of cable you use.
yMake sure that the headphone port connections are made properly. yTry increasing the volume with the joystick. ySet the audio output of the PC to the monitor you are using: On
Microsoft Windows, go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > set the monitor as default device.
