1 Use a parallel cable that supports bidirectional
communication (IEEE 1284-compatible), such as Lexmark P/N 1329605.
Fasten the metal clips on the

printer to the parallel cable.

Plug in your printer

Connect the parallel cable to the computer. Make sure you tighten the screws.

Connect the power supply to the printer.

Install the print cartridges

3b. Is the power light on?

Power light
If the power light is on, continue with step 4. If not, check your connections.

Cartridge carrier
When you raise the front cover, the cartridge carrier moves to the loading position.

4b. Unpack the cartridges

DO NOT touch the copper contact area

Remove each new print cartridge from its packaging.
Remove the sticker and the transparent tape covering the copper area on the cartridges.

4c. Insert the cartridges

4d. Snap the cartridges into
place

4e. Close the front cover

Push back on the cartridges until they snap securely into place.
If the print cartridges move loosely in the carrier, they are not locked into place. Repeat this step.

Load paper

plain paper in the sheet feeder
Insert the paper against the right side of the sheet

Exit tray

Slide the media guide to the edge of the paper.

Install the printer software

The Lexmark 3200 compact disc includes printer drivers for Windows 95, 98, 3.1, 3.11, and NT 4.0.
If your computer does not have a CD-ROM drive:
V isit our website at http://www .lexmark.com
to download a printer driver to your computer.
You can create driver diskettes using another
computer with a CD-ROM drive.
Ask our Technical Support Center to mail you
diskettes. Refer to the printer registration card for the number in your country.
Refer to the Lexmark 3200 User’s Guide for information on how to install the printer software from diskettes.

Start Windows.

Insert the Lexmark 3200 Color Jetprinter™ CD

into your CD-ROM drive.
If the menu screen appears after a few
moments, continue with step 3.
If nothing appears on the screen after a few
moments, follow these steps:

Windows 95, 98, and NT 4.0
From the Start menu, choose Run.
Windows 3.1, 3.11
From the Program Manager menu bar, choose File, then choose Run.
b In the command-line text box, type the
letter of your CD-ROM drive, followed by
setup (for example, d:\setup), then click OK.
When the menu screen appears, click the Install
