How to Measure French Door with Cutout

Outside Mount — 4-sided L Frame on Top or Around the Molding

Measure Width (A)

If If no molding present — Measure outside of the glass in three places

(top, middle, and bottom) and record the measurements to the nearest 1⁄8 in.

Mounting on top of molding or around molding — Measure the outside width, including
the molding, in three places (top, middle, and bottom) and record the measurements
to the nearest 1⁄8 in. If measuring on top of molding, the molding must be at least 1 3⁄8 in.
wide. If measuring around the molding, please make note of that, and the factory will make
necessary adjustments.

Measure Height (B)

If no molding present — Measure outside of the glass in three places

(top, middle, and bottom) and record the measurements to the nearest 1⁄8 in.

Mounting on top of molding or around molding — Measure the outside width, including
the molding, in three places (top, middle, and bottom) and record the measurements
to the nearest 1⁄8 in. If measuring on top of molding, the molding must be at least 1 3⁄8 in.
wide. If measuring around the molding, please make note of that, and the factory will make
necessary adjustments.

Cut Out Height (C or D)

Measure from the bottom of the molding to the middle of the desired cutout location.

The cutout can be centered on the door handle (“C”) or centered between the door handle and the deadbolt (“D”).

Add 1 3⁄8 in for the L frame at the bottom of the shutter.

An optional divider rail may be ordered, and will be centered on the location of the cutout.

The divider rail will be positioned on center of the cutout.

NOTE: Shutter height may be

ordered longer than molding
to molding measurements.

This allows the shutter to be
moved up or down in order to
center the cutout as needed.

Depending on the louver size, tilt mechanism and whether or not there is molding around the glass that protrudes
into the room, we will add the necessary frame extensions.

How to Measure By-Pass

•

Inside mount must have a minimum jamb depth of 2 in.

•

Outside mount standard by-pass will project 6 5⁄8 in from the wall.

Inside Mount

•

Measure window width and height in three places (top, middle,
and bottom) and record the smallest measurement to the
nearest 1⁄8 in.

• Check for window squareness by measuring both diagonals
from corner to corner. If the difference between the diagonals
is more than ½ in., an outside mount is recommended

•

Do not make any deductions, allowances or additions.

Outside Mount

If Mounting On Wall without trim, take width and height measurements

outside the window opening in three places (top, middle, and bottom),
measurements. Ensure that you have at least 2 1⁄4 in of clearance above
and on each side of your window opening.

If Mounting On Trim, take width and height measurements from the
outside edges of your trim in three places (top, middle, and bottom), and
record the largest measurements. You will need at least 2 1⁄4 in of flat trim
for the Shutter frame to mount onto.

If Mounting Outside Trim, take width and height measurements from
the outside edges of your trim in three places (top, middle, and bottom),
and record the largest measurements.

INSIDE MEASUREMENTS

The measurement recorded is determined from the bottom of the
floor or sill to the middle of where the divider rail is to be located.

•

One divider rail is required for panels over 66 in with a maximum
50 in between the middle of the divider rail and either top or

bottom rail.

•

Two divider rails are required for panels over 90 inches in height

with a maximum 50 in between any two rails.
