Ensurethatextensioncords,surgeprotectors,uninterruptiblepowersupplies,andpowerstripsthatyouuse areratedtohandletheelectricalrequirementsoftheproduct.Neveroverloadthesedevices.Ifpowerstrips areused,theloadshouldnotexceedthepowerstripinputrating.Consultanelectricianformoreinformation ifyouhavequestionsaboutpowerloads,powerrequirements,andinputratings.
Plugsandoutlets

Ifareceptacle(poweroutlet)thatyouintendtousewithyourcomputerequipmentappearstobe damagedorcorroded,donotusetheoutletuntilitisreplacedbyaqualifiedelectrician.
Donotbendormodifytheplug.Iftheplugisdamaged,contactthemanufacturertoobtain areplacement.

5.TurndevicesON.
Thepowercordmustbedisconnectedfromthewalloutletorreceptaclebeforeinstallingallotherelectrical cablesconnectedtothecomputer.
Thepowercordmaybereconnectedtothewalloutletorreceptacleonlyafterallotherelectricalcables havebeenconnectedtothecomputer.
Todisconnect:
1.TurneverythingOFF .
2.First,removepowercordsfromoutlets.

SpendmoretimeunpluggedwithThinkPadbatteries.Mobilityhasrevolutionizedbusinessbyallowing youtotakeyourworkwhereveryougo.WithThinkPadbatteries,youwillbeabletoworklongerwithout beingtiedtoanelectricaloutlet.

Checkingthebatterystatus

Ifanacoutletisconvenient,plugtheacpoweradapterintoit,andtheninsertthejackintothecomputer. Thebatterywillbefullychargedinabout2hours.Thisisaffectedbythebatterysizeandthephysical environment.Thebatterystatusindicatorwillletyouknowthatthebatteryischarging,andwillalsonotify youwhenthebatteryisfullycharged.

Disablingthebuilt-inbattery

Sleep Insleepmode,yourworkissavedtomemory,andthenthesolidstatedriveortheharddiskdriveandthe computerdisplayareturnedoff.Whenyourcomputerwakesup,yourworkisrestoredwithinseconds.
Toputyourcomputerintosleepmode,pressFn+F4.Toreturnfromsleepmode,presstheFnkey. Dependingonthecomputermodel,yourcomputermightsupportthe30DayStandbyfunction.Whenthis

Touserecoverymedia,dothefollowing:
1.Dependingonthetypeofyourrecoverymedia,connectthebootmedium(memorykeyorotherUSB storagedevice)tothecomputer,orinsertthebootdiscintotheopticaldrive.
2.RepeatedlypressandreleasetheF12keywhenturningonthecomputer.WhentheBootMenuwindow opens,releasetheF12key.
3.SelectthedesiredstartupdeviceandpressEnter.Therestoreprocessbegins.

TheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceresidesinaprotected,hiddenareaofyoursolid-statedrivethat operatesindependentlyfromtheWindowsoperatingsystem.Thisenablesyoutoperformrecovery operationsevenifyoucannotstarttheWindowsoperatingsystem.Y oucanperformthefollowingrecovery operationsfromtheRescueandRecoveryworkspace:
Rescuefilesfromyoursolid-statedriveorfromabackup TheRescueandRecoveryworkspaceenablesyoutolocatefilesonyoursolid-statedriveandtransfer

1.SelectBoot;thenpressEnter.Thedefaultbootlistisdisplayed,showingtheorderinwhichdeviceswill bestartedup,evendevicesthatarenotattachedtoorinstalledonyourcomputerarelisted.
•UsetheBootsubmenutospecifythestartupsequencethatrunswhenyouturnonthepower..
2.Setthestartuporderbysingthefollowingkeys:
