Thischaptercontainsinstructionsforinstallingthegraphicscard.Italsoincludesinstructionsforinstalling anduninstallingthedevicedriver.

Beforeyoubegin

Beforeyouinstallthegraphicscard,takethefollowingprecautionstopreventstaticelectricityfrom damagingelectronicparts:

•Beforetouchinganyelectronicparts,drainthestaticelectricityfromyourbody.Y oucandothisby touchingthemetalframeofyourcomputer.

•Donotremovethegraphicscardfromtheantistaticshippingcontaineruntilyouarereadytoinstallit. Whenyouremovethegraphicscardfromyourcomputer,placeitinitsoriginalcontainer.

•Whenhandlingthegraphicscard,holditbyitsedges,andavoidtouchingitscircuitry.

Installingthegraphicscard

Toinstallthegraphicscard,dothefollowing:

1.Prepareyourcomputerforgraphicscardinstallationbydoingthefollowing: a.Turnoffallattacheddevicesandthenturnoffthecomputer. b.Unplugallcordsandpowercablesfromthecomputerandallattacheddevices. c.Removethecomputercover.Forinstructionsonhowtoremovethecover,refertotheuserguide

thatcomeswithyourcomputer.

2.ChooseaPCIExpressx16expansionslot.

3.Removetheexpansionslotcoverfortheselectedexpansionslot.Savethescrewifthereisonetouse withthemountingbracketofthegraphicscard.

Attention:Insertingagraphicscardintoanincorrecttypeofexpansionslotmightdamageyourcard, yourcomputer,orboth.Toidentifythelocationofeachtypeofexpansionslotinyourcomputer,referto theuserguidethatcomeswithyourcomputer.

4.Positionthegraphicscardovertheselectedexpansionslot.Firmlyandevenlypushthegraphics cardinuntilitisfullyseatedintheslot.

Notes:

•Donotinserttheplastictabnexttotheconnectorpinsintotheexpansionslot.

•Ifthegraphicscardhasanauxiliarypowerconnector,attachittothesystempowersupply.

5.Tightenthescrewifnecessarytosecurethemountingbracketofthegraphicscardinplace.

6.Reinstallthecomputercover.

7.Reattachthecords,powercables,andexternaldevicestothecomputer.

1.Runtheterminal.Theterminalwindowopens.

2.InserttheSoftwareandUserGuideDisc.

3.Typecdxxx/drivers/LinuxandpressEntertonavigatetothe/driver/LinuxfolderonyourCDorDVD drive(wherexxxrepresentsthedirectorythatyourCDorDVDdriveismountedin).

4.TypeGraphics_card_Linux.runandpressEnter.

5.WhentheLicenseAgreementwindowopens,readtheLicenseAgreementandclickIAgreetocontinue theinstallation.

6.Followtheinstructionsonyourcomputerscreentocompletethedevicedriverinstallation.

TheServiceProviderwillattempttodiagnoseandresolveyourproblembytelephone,e-mailorremote assistance.TheServiceProvidermaydirectyoutodownloadandinstalldesignatedsoftwareupdates.

Someproblemsmayberesolvedwithareplacementpartthatyouinstallyourselfcalleda“Customer ReplaceableUnit”or“CRU.”Ifso,theServiceProviderwillshiptheCRUtoyouforyoutoinstall.

Ifyourproblemcannotberesolvedoverthetelephone;throughtheapplicationofsoftwareupdatesor theinstallationofaCRU,theServiceProviderwillarrangeforserviceunderthetypeofwarrantyservice designatedfortheproductunder“Part3-WarrantyServiceInformation”below.

IftheServiceProviderdeterminesthatitisunabletorepairyourproduct,theServiceProviderwillreplace itwithonethatisatleastfunctionallyequivalent.

IftheServiceProviderdeterminesthatitisunabletoeitherrepairorreplaceyourproduct,yoursole remedyunderthisLimitedWarrantyistoreturntheproducttoyourplaceofpurchaseortoLenovofora refundofyourpurchaseprice.

LimitationofLiability

LenovoisresponsibleforlossordamagetoyourproductonlywhileitisintheServiceProvider’spossession orintransit,iftheServiceProviderisresponsibleforthetransportation.

NeitherLenovonortheServiceProviderisresponsibleforlossordisclosureofanydata,including condentialinformation,proprietaryinformation,orpersonalinformation,containedinaproduct.
