Beforeyoubegin

BeforeinstallingthewirelessWANadapter,carefullyreadthefollowinginformation.

Attention:ThewirelessWANadapterisshippedwithanantistaticbag.Whenhandling,takethefollowing
precautionstopreventstaticelectricityfromdamagingtheelectronicparts:

•Donotopenthestatic-protectivebaguntilyouarereadytoinstallthewirelessWANadapterintothePCI
ExpressMiniCardslotinyourcomputer.

•BeforeremovingthewirelessWANadapterfromtheantistaticbag,drainstaticelectricityfromthebag
andfromyourbodybytouchingthebagtoametaltableoragroundedmetalobject.

WheninstallingorreplacingthewirelessWANadapter,besuretofollowtheprecautionsbelow.

Duringelectricalstorms,donotconnectthecabletoordisconnectitfromthetelephoneoutlet
onthewall.

Electriccurrentfrompower,telephone,andcommunicationcablesishazardous.Toavoidshock
hazard,disconnectthecablesbeforeopeningthecoverofthePCIExpressMiniCardslot.

ToinstallthewirelessWANadapter,dothefollowing:

1.T urnoffthecomputer.

2.InstallthewirelessWANadapterfollowingthestep-by-stepinstructionsonthesetupposters.

Note:IfyourServiceProviderrequiresaSIMcard,installtheSIMcardprovidedintheoptionpackage
followingtheinstructionsintheuserguideforyourThinkPadcomputer.

3.Restartyourcomputer.

4.DownloadandinstallthedevicedriversforthewirelessWANadapterandtheLenovo

BroadbandActivation(LMBA)programbydoingoneofthefollowing:

5.StarttheLMBAprogramtoactivatethewirelessWANadapter.Anaccountwithamobilebroadband
ServiceProviderisrequired.

6.StarttheThinkVantageAccessConnectionsprogramtoconrmyourwirelessconnectionortoassist
inresolvinganyconnectionproblems.Fordetailedcongurationinstructions,refertotheAccess
Connectionshelpinformationsystem.

ToopentheAccessConnectionshelpinformationsystem,dependingontheoperatingsystemyouare
using,dooneofthefollowing:

Chapter3.Troubleshooting

IfyouexperiencethefollowingproblemwiththewirelessWANadapter,trythesolutionprovidedtosolve
theproblem.

Problem:IhavecorrectlyinstalledthewirelessWANadapteronmycomputer,butthecomputerfailsto
recognizethewirelessWANadapter.

Solution:ResettheUniedExtensibleFirmwareInterface(UEFI)BasicInput/OutputSystem(BIOS)
congurationofyourcomputertothedefaultsettingsbydoingthefollowing:

1.T urnonthecomputer.

2.WhenyouseetheThinkPadlogoscreen,pressF1toentertheBIOS.

3.PressF9,andthenselectYestoloadthedefaultconguration.

4.PressF10tosavecongurationchangesandexitbyselectingY es.Thecomputerrestarts.

Note:Afterthecomputerrestarts,theBIOSchangesareautomaticallysaved.Thereisnoneedtoreset
theBIOScongurationagainthenexttimeyoustartyourcomputer.
