Thesuppliedbatterypackisnotfullychargedatpurchase.T ochargethebattery andbeginusingyourcomputer,insertthebatterypackandconnectthecomputer toanelectricaloutlet.Thebatteryisautomaticallychargedwhilethecomputeris runningonacpower.
Installingthebatterypack
Toinstallthebatterypack,refertotheSetupPosterthatcomeswithyour computer.

Puttingyourcomputerintosleepstateorshuttingitdown

Whenyounishworkingwithyourcomputer,youcanputitintosleepstateor shutitdown.
Puttingyourcomputerintosleepstate
Ifyouwillbeawayfromyourcomputerforonlyashorttime,putthecomputer intosleepstate.Whenthecomputerisinsleepstate,youcanquicklywakeitto resumeuse,andbypassthestartupprocess.
Toputthecomputerintosleepstate,doeitherofthefollowing:
•Click
•PressFn+F1.
andselectSleepfromtheStartmenu.
Note:Waituntilthepowerindicatorlightstartsblinking(indicatingthatthe computerisinsleepstate)beforeyoumoveyourcomputer.Movingyour computerwhiletheharddiskisspinningcandamagetheharddisk,causing lossofdata.
Towakethecomputer,doeitherofthefollowing:
•Pressthepowerbutton.
•Pressanykeyonthekeyboard.
Shuttingdownyourcomputer
Ifyouarenotgoingtouseyourcomputerforadayortwo,shutitdown.
Toshutdownyourcomputer,clickandselectShutdownfromtheStartmenu.

Thissectionprovidesinformationabouthowtousetheacpoweradapterthe batteryforyourcomputer.

Checkingbatterystatus

Youcandeterminethepercentageofbatterypowerremainingbycheckingthe batteryiconinthenoticationarea.
Notes:Aseachcomputeruserhasdifferenthabitsandneeds,itisdifcultto predicthowlongabatterychargewilllast.Therearetwomainfactors:
•Theamountofenergystoredinthebatterywhenyoucommencework.
•Thewayyouuseyourcomputer:forexample,howoftenyouaccessthehard diskdriveandhowbrightyoumakethecomputerdisplay.

Chargingthebattery

Whenyoundthatthebatterypowerislow,youneedtochargethebatteryor replaceitwithafullychargedone.
Youneedtochargethebatteryinanyofthefollowingsituations:
•Whenyoupurchaseanewbattery
•Ifthebatterystatusindicatorstartsblinking
•Ifthebatteryhasnotbeenusedforalongtime
Notes:
•Y ouareadvisedtoinsertthebatterypackwhenusingyourcomputerto preventsmallparticlesfromenteringtheinsideofyourcomputer.
•T oincreasethelifeofthebatterypack,thecomputerdoesnotstartrecharging thebatteryimmediatelyafteritdropsfromfullycharged.
•Chargethebatteryatatemperaturebetween50°Fand86°F(10°C-30°C).
•Fullchargeordischargeisnotrequired.

Removingthebatterypack

Ifyouarenotgoingtousethecomputerforanextendedperiodoftime,orifyou needtosendyourcomputertoLenovoforservice,etc.removethebatterypack fromthecomputer.Beforeremovingthebatterypack,makesurethecomputer hasbeenshutdown.

Iftherechargeablebatterypackisreplacedwithanincorrecttype,theremaybe dangerofanexplosion.Thebatterypackcontainsasmallamountofharmful substances.Toavoidpossibleinjuryanddetrimenttotheenvironment,pay attentiontothefollowingpoints:

•Keepthebatterypackawayfromre.

TheLenovoOneKeyRescuesystemisaneasy-to-useapplicationthatcanbe usedtobackupthedataonyoursystempartition(Cdrive)foreasyrestorewhen required.Y oucanrunLenovoOneKeyRecoveryundertheWindowsoperating system,andtheOneKeyRescuesystemwithoutstartingtheWindowsoperating system.
Attention:InordertoutilizethefeaturesoftheOneKeyRescuesystem,yourhard diskalreadyincludesahiddenpartitionbydefaulttostorethesystemimagele andOneKeyRescuesystemprogramles.Thisdefaultpartitionishiddenfor securityreasonsandisthereasontheavailablediskspaceislessthanitclaims. Theexactavailableharddiskspacedependsonthelesizeofthemirrorimage le(basedonthesizeofoperatingsystemandpreinstalledsoftware).

Replacingthebattery

Note:Onlyusethebatteryspeciedinthepartslistforyourcomputer.Anyother
batterycouldigniteorexplode.
Toreplacethebattery,dothefollowing:
1.Turnoffthecomputer ,orenterhibernationmode.Disconnecttheacpower adapterandallcablesfromthecomputer.
2.Closethecomputerdisplay,andturnthecomputerover.
3.Unlockthebatteryreleaselever1.Holdingthebatteryreleaseleverinthe unlockedposition2,removethebatterypackinthedirectionshownby arrow3.
4.Installafullychargedbattery.
5.Slidethemanualbatterylatchtothelockedposition.

Replacingtheharddiskdrive

Youcanincreasethestoragecapacityofyourcomputerbyreplacingtheharddisk drivewithoneofgreatercapacity.Y oucanpurchaseanewharddiskdrivefrom yourresellerorLenovomarketingrepresentative.
Notes:
•Replacetheharddiskdriveonlyifyouupgradeitorhaveitrepaired.The connectorsandbayoftheharddiskdrivewerenotdesignedforfrequent changes,ordriveswapping.
•Thepreinstalledsoftwaresarenotincludedonanoptionalharddiskdrive.
Handlingaharddiskdrive
•Donotdropthedriveorsubjectittophysicalshocks.Putthedriveona material,suchassoftcloth,thatabsorbsthephysicalshock.
•Donotapplypressuretothecoverofthedrive.
•Donottouchtheconnector.
Note:Thedriveisverysensitive.Incorrecthandlingcancausedamageand permanentlossofdataontheharddisk.Beforeremovingtheharddiskdrive, makeabackupcopyofalltheinformationontheharddisk,andthenturnthe computeroff.Neverremovethedrivewhilethesystemisoperating,insleep mode,orinhibernationmode.
