•POSTeventlog:Thislogcontainsthethreemostrecenterrorcodesandmessagesthatweregenerated
duringPOST.YoucanviewthePOSTeventlogthroughtheSetuputility.
•System-eventlog:ThislogcontainsmessagesthatweregeneratedduringPOSTandallsystemstatus
messagesfromtheserviceprocessor.Youcanviewthecontentsofthesystem-eventlogfromthe
Setuputilityformoreinformation.Thesystem-eventlogislimitedinsize.Whenitisfull,newentrieswill
notoverwriteexistingentries;therefore,youmustperiodicallyclearthesystem-eventlogthroughthe
Setuputility.Whenyouaretroubleshooting,youmighthavetoclearthesystem-eventlogtomakethe
mostrecenteventsavailableforanalysis.
Eachsystem-eventlogentryisdisplayedonitsownpage.Messagearelistedontheleftsideofthe
screen,anddetailsabouttheselectedmessageisdisplayedontherightsideofthescreen.Tomovefrom
oneentrytothenext,usetheUpArrow(-)andDownArrow(¯)keys.
Thesystem-eventlogindicatesanassertioneventwhenaneventhasoccurred.Itindicatesade-assertion
eventwhentheeventisnolongeroccurring.
•Integratedmanagementmodule(IMM)eventlog:ThislogcontainsalteredsubsetofallIMM,POST,
andsystemmanagementinterrupt(SMI)events.YoucanviewtheIMMeventlogthroughtheIMMWeb
interfaceandthroughtheDynamicSystemAnalysis(DSA)program(astheASMeventlog).
•DSAlog:ThislogisgeneratedbytheDynamicSystemAnalysis(DSA)program,anditisachronologically
orderedmergeofthesystem-eventlog(astheIPMIeventlog),theIMMchassis-eventlog(astheASM
eventlog),andtheoperating-systemeventlogs.YoucanviewtheDSAlogthroughtheDSAprogram.
ViewingeventlogsthroughtheSetuputility
ToviewthePOSTeventlogorsystem-eventlog,completethefollowingsteps:
1.T urnontheserver.
2.Whentheprompt<F1>Setupisdisplayed,pressF1.Ifyouhavesetbothapower-onpasswordandan
administratorpassword,youmusttypetheadministratorpasswordtoviewtheeventlogs.
3.SelectSystemEventLogsanduseoneofthefollowingprocedures:
