About the Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter III
The ThinkPad® Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter III is used to contain the
2.5-inch Serial ATA hard disk drive. It can only be installed into an Ultrabay
media bay that is compatible with Serial ATA hard disk drives.
Note: Be suretoverifywithyourplaceofpurchasethatthedriveis
compatible with your computer. Or, contact the Lenovo Customer Support
Center for assistance.

This section provides information on installing a supported hard disk drive
into your Ultrabay media bay using the Serial ATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter
III.
does not support ThinkCentre® hard disk drives, Lenovo China hard disk
drives, or hard disk drives from other companies.
Handling a hard disk drive
To protect a hard disk drive during installation, observe the following
precautions:
v Keep thedriveinitsstatic-protectivebaguntilyouarereadytoinstallthe
drive in your ThinkPad computer. If you take the drive out of the
static-protective bag, place the static-protective bag on a flat, padded surface,
and then place the drive on the bag with the component side facing up.
v Handle thedrivewithcare.Droppingorjarringthedrivecandamagethe
components inside the drive housing.
v Limit your movement. Movement can cause static electricity buildup.
v Donot subject the drive to physical shocks.
v Handle the drive by the edges.
v Donot touch any exposed components on the drive.
v Donot apply pressure to the cover of the drive.
Attention: The harddiskdriveisverysensitive.Incorrecthandlingcancause
damage and permanent loss of data on the drive.

Installation and configuration support through the Customer Support Center
will be available until 90 days after the option has been withdrawn from
marketing. After that time, the support is cancelled, or made available for a
fee, at Lenovo’s discretion. Additional support is also available for a nominal
fee.
