GENERAL INFORMATION
This kit is for use with models UVF-36, UVFRC-3628, UVFRC-3628-H, UVFRC-4228 & UVFRC-4228-H Ventfree fi reboxes when installed in con­ventional construction.
These kits have an air gate assembly which allows adjustment of the amount of outside air delivered to the fi re for combustion. Only one air kit, located on the right side of the fi rebox, is required.
If you encounter any problems, need clarifi cation of these instructions or are not qualifi ed to properly install this kit, contact you local distributor or dealer.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Remove the outside air knock-out on the right hand side of appliance
(See Figure 2 for location).
2. Assemble the Air Gate as shown in Figures 3 & 4.
3. Take the Air Gate Assembly and feed the arm
through the round opening (see Figures 5 & 6) and then through the side frame opening. Ensure the air gate arm remains attached to the air gate (see Figure 7).

5. Secure the air gate arm support bracket (item
#3 in Figure 1) as shown in Figure 9.

Hold the air gate arm and align the air gate assem­bly to fi t fl ush in the opening.

4. Secure the air gate to the fi rebox as shown in Figure 8.

6. Secure the outside air collar (item #4 in Figure
1) as shown in Figure 10.
Secure the outside air collar over the air gate using the four (4) long screws (provided) through the inside holes (indicated by arrows).

7. Attach fl exible duct to the outside air collar
using two (2) short screws (provided), then wrap with duct tape as shown in Figure 11.
8. Duct Hole Framing: Cut or frame a hole through
the outside of the enclosure for the installation of the duct inlet hood. A 5" (127 mm) diameter hole is required. Feed the loose end of the fl exible duct through the hole cut for the inlet hood and attach to the collar on the inlet hood using two (2) short screws (provided), then wrap with duct tape. Insert the hood into the opening. Secure in place with nails driven through the holes in hood fl ange. Seal with noncombustible waterproof silicon type caulking. If additional duct is needed, use Class 0 metallic air duct (refer to Figure 12).
Note: The Class 0 metallic air duct can be routed out the back wall or side wall, up through the ceiling or fl oor joists to an outside wall. Check local building codes for any restrictions. We recommend that the inlet be at least four (4) feet above grade level.
CAUTION
Do not install the air inlet in the attic, garage, near combustible gases (i.e. paint, gasoline, etc.) or where there is a fuel burning appliance or where the opening could be blocked by snow, bushes or other obstacles.
