1 THE LELY HIBISCUS RAKE

1.1 The Lely Hibiscus 655 SD
Only use the rake for its intended purpose!
The Lely Hibiscus 655 SD is a pull-type, twin-rotor cam rake for side delivery. The rake is equipped with 2 rotors with 11 tine arms, each equipped with 4 double tines. The tines provide a clean sweep and move the grass to the left side in an airy swath.
The rotors of the Lely Hibiscus 655 SD rake are fitted to the carriage by means of a 3-D system, allowing them to follow ground contours independently of the carriage.
The 4-wheel assembly ensures excellent raking when working in undulating fields as well. The transport wheels of the machine are fitted with wheel steering as standard, which ensures that the machine follows the tractor in the same tracks.

1.2 Intended Use

4.1064.8502.0 -
The Lely Hibiscus 655 SD is designed to be used as a rake pulled and powered by a tractor.
The rake has been built exclusively for raking grass, hay and straw lying on the ground of an agricultural field (= proper use). Usage going beyond that does not constitute proper use. The manufacturer is not liable for damage resulting from improper use; the operator only bears the risk.
Intended uses also implies that the instructions and rules prescribed by the manufacturer are observed.

1.3 Foreseeable Misuse

The rake must not be operated when stationary or outside an agricultural field.
The rake must not be used for raking organic waste or hard materials such as stones.

4 DESCRIPTION

4.1 Lely Hibiscus 655 SD
The Lely Hibiscus 655 SD is a pull type twin rotor rake to rake grass, hay and straw.
The Hibiscus has:
Two rotors
Cam track
Steering device
Hydraulic system
Electric system
Working height adjustment system
Protective covers
Wheel wedges
Rotors
The two rotors (6) (see figure 3 on page 4-2) both have 11 tine arms, each with four double tines per arm. The tines provide a clean sweep and move the grass to the left side of the machine in a fluffy swath. The rotors can be lifted into the headland position. The front rotor is lifted

first, followed by the rear rotor to enable the operator to drive into headlands without having to wait or slow down. The rotors are suspended by means of a 3D system and ground contour following by each rotor is supported by the four wheel assembly.
Cam track
The adjustable cam track determines the pick and release moment of the crop.
Steering device
The steering device (5) makes the Hibiscus operate as a trailer. The Hibiscus can continue raking when it makes a turn.
Hydraulic system
The hydraulic system moves the Hibiscus into the following positions:
From the transport position to the working position and reverse.
To the headland position. To turn on headlands.
The hydraulic system has connections for 1 single-acting valve with floating position and 1 double-acting valve. The maximum oil pressure is 210 bar (3045 Psi).
Electric system
The electric system has a lighting cable that must be connected to the tractor socket to make sure the lighting is operating correctly.
DESCRIPTION 4-1
Working height adjustment system
The Hibiscus has a winding handle (2) to adjust the working height of the tines. The tines should only just touch the ground. The working height can be adjusted roughly by the position of the rotor wheels and shims at the pivot points.
Protective covers
The Hibiscus has a set of protective covers (12) that must be installed on the tines before driving on public roads.
Wheel wedges
The Hibiscus has two wheel wedges (8) that must be placed against the transport wheels to prevent the machine from rolling away accidentally when it is out of operation.
