PREFACE
This Operator’s Manual is meant for personnel who operate the machine and are responsible for its daily maintenance.
Kindly read this entire manual prior to starting work.
Instructions relating to your safety and/or that of others are marked in the margin by a warning triangle containing an exclamation mark. Always observe these instructions with particular care and attention.
Instructions which may lead to serious material damage in case of non-compliance or incorrect use are indicated in the margin with an exclamation mark.
The machine described in this manual may contain components that do not form part of the standard equipment but are available as optional extras. This is not indicated in all cases since standard specifications may differ from country to country.
Furthermore, machines and optional extras may be adapted to specific regional conditions and are also subject to permanent research and innovation. For this reason, the specifications of your machine may not be consistent with the pictures in this manual.
WARRANTY CONDITIONS
For those parts which fail under normal operating conditions, the factory will make replacement parts available, free of charge, for a period of 12 (twelve) months from the date of purchase.
The warranty shall not apply if the instructions mentioned in this manual have not been followed, or if they have not been followed completely or correctly. Nor will the warranty apply if you or third parties modify the machine without our foreknowledge and/or authorisation.

The type/serial number plate is fitted on the right side of the three­point hitch.
Please specify the type and serial number of your machine in any correspondence and when ordering spare parts. Complete the box below with these numbers.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
- Use the machine only for the purpose for which it was designed.
- Follow all prevailing safety regulations, including those laid down in this manual and indicated on the machine.
- Operate this machine in a safe manner.
- The machine should be operated by authorised persons only.
- Be alert and observe all safety precautions.
- Ensure that all safety guards and protection devices are in place.
- Keep out of reach of moving parts.
- Stop the engine, PTO and moving parts before adjusting, cleaning or lubricating the machine.
- Take care that no-one is within the dangerous zone while the machine is in operation and ensure that people are kept well away from the machine. This is especially important when working along roads and near or on fields that are accessible to the public.
- Always use a tractor with a cab.
- Clear the field of any objects that could be thrown up by the machine.
- Observe prevailing legislation for public road transport.
- Use flashing lights or other safety signs, when required.
- Do not stand on the machine.
- Use genuine LELY parts only.
- Depressurise the hydraulic systems before starting work on them and/or before coupling/uncoupling hydraulic hoses.
- Use protective clothing, gloves, safety glasses and/or hearing protectors, if required.
- Clean the safety decals regularly so that they can be read at all times.

EXPLANATION OF SAFETY DECALS ON THE MACHINE
- Read the operator’s manual carefully before operating the machine. Observe instructions and safety rules during operation.
- Danger! Moving parts. Stay clear of rotating machine parts.
- Never allow the machine to operate at a PTO speed greater than 540 r.p.m.
- Danger: moving parts! Read the operating instructions of the PTO shaft. Never use a PTO shaft without any protection.

1 INTRODUCTION
The LELY ROTONDE 510 CD (fig.1) is a trailed, twin-rotor cam rake for central delivery. The rotors of the ROTONDE rake are equipped with 10 double, horizontal tines. The tines give a clean sweep and move the grass to the centre in an airy windrow.
The machine's working width and swath width can be adjusted infinitely by means of hydraulics from the tractor cab. The working width can be adjusted to between 3.85 m and 5.10 m.
Both pneumatic tyres of the wheel assemblies underneath the rotors ensure excellent raking when working in undulating fields as well. Thanks to its swivel wheels, the machine can be driven in circular passes in the field.
2 LINKAGE TO THE TRACTOR
Link the machine to the tractor as follows:
- Adjust the tractor's three-point-hitch arms at an equal height.
- Fit the lower arms to the category 1 linkage pins of the headstock. Use filling bushes for a category II hydraulic tractor lift.
- Attach the top link of the tractor to the machine with a category II top link pin.
- Place the parking jack in the raised position.
- Secure the tractor’s lower arms with stabilisation chains or rods to eliminate any sideways movements.
- Check if the PTO shaft telescopes smoothly.
- Fit the PTO shaft to the tractor PTO.
During first assembly or when using another tractor, check the minimum and maximum overlap of the PTO shaft halves in all positions

- Fit the safety chain of the protection tube to a rigid part of the tractor.
- Connect the hydraulic hoses to a double-acting hydraulic tractor valve. Permitted maximum oil pressure: 21.0 MPa (210 bar).
- Place the end of the operating cord of the ram lock in the tractor cab.

3 TRANSPORT
The ROTONDE rake can be transported by the tractor after it has been adjusted to the transport position. The transport width is 3.0 m.
Put the machine into the working position as follows:
- Fold the machine's safety guards upwards.
- Fold the tines upwards and place them behind the curtain (fig. 2).
- Fold the swath boards inwards to reduce the transport length (fig. 3).
- Lift the machine off the ground.
- Pull the locking hook of the hydraulic ram upwards and retract the ram completely.
- Check whether the ram has been secured by the locking hook (fig. 4).
- Use all lighting and warning signals required by law (or other regulations prescribed by the authorities).
- For transport on public roads, ensure that the front axle weight is sufficient (fit front weights, if necessary) and that the permitted maximum rear axle weight is not exceeded.
The machine is now ready for transport.
Never allow the PTO shaft to rotate when the machine is in the transport position.

4 MACHINE ADJUSTMENTS
Ensure that no-one is near the machine when it is switched from the transport position to the working position.
Put the machine into the working position as follows:
- Pull the locking hook of the hydraulic ram upwards and push the ram out. Perform this action while the tractor hydraulics are in the raised position. The locking hook will now act as a stop in order to limit the smallest working width (fig. 5).
- Lower the machine to the ground.
- Retrieve the tines from behind the curtain and fold them outwards (fig. 6).
- Adjust the guide board located in the centre of the machine to the rear-most position when working in green roughage and to the front-most position when raking straw. The height adjustment must be such that the bottom of the guide board tube is approximately 10 cm above ground level (fig. 7). A different setting may be required, depending on the type of crop and ground contours.

4.1 Working width
- The working width can be adjusted by extending the ram of machine more or less by means of the tractor's double-acting valve. The working width can be varied between 3.85 m and 5.10 m.
The working width can be changed while driving by operating the hydraulic ram. When the tractor is stationary, the ROTONDE rake must be lifted if the working width is adjusted.
4.2 Swath width
The swath width of the ROTONDE 510 CD rake is adjustable from 1.0 until 1.5 m.
- Adjust the swath boards in the desired swath width. This should preferably be done after the ROTONDE rake has been placed in the desired working width by means of the hydraulic ram. The reason for this is that the swath width will also change slightly when the working width is adjusted.
4.3 Working height
The working height is adjusted approximatively with the land wheels underneath the rotors. Fine adjustments are performed with the top link between the tractor and the machine.
- When ground conditions are normal, the height-adjustable wheels can be placed in the middle position (fig. 8). If the ground is soft, the machine must be adjusted 1 or 2 positions higher in order to compensate for tractor wheelings. Insert the adjustment pin in the adjustment holes so that the handle is pointing downwards.
- Adjust the machine in a forward position by means of the top link so that the bottom of the rake wheel is roughly 5 cm above ground level at the front (fig. 9). Depending on the type of crop, the height adjustment of the wheels and the oblique position may have to be configured differently.

5 OPERATING THE ROTONDE
• Ensure no-one is near the machine at the moment the
PTO is engaged.
• Do not allow anyone to come within a 25 m radius of the
machine during operation.
• Stop the tractor engine before leaving the tractor cab.
• The safety guards are essential protective components of
the machine. Consequently, only operate the rake if these components have been duly fitted.
5.1 General instructions
- Lift the rotors up to the headland position.
- Engage the PTO at the lowest possible engine r.p.m.
- Increase the engine speed.
- Drive forward. Never drive the machine through the crop while the rotors are on the ground and are not rotating. This may damage the tines and the rotors.
- Lower the machine into the crop.
Adjust the working width to the crop type and quantity.
In the case of a short crop or minimal crop, it may not be possible to make the desired windrow in a single working pass. In that case, work the field first using the smallest working width and then rake two windrows together by working the field again using the largest working width (fig. 10).

Also use this procedure if the crop is compacted on the ground. This will ensure that the crop underneath the windrows is also pulled apart.
In the case of crop that has been tedded, any desired working width can be used for windrowing (fig. 11).
Slanting fields can be finished easily by adjusting the working width with the hydraulic ram during the final working pass (fig. 12).

The ROTONDE rake is also suitable for combining straw windrows made by a combine (fig. 13). The working width along with the windrowing width of the combine may not exceed approximately
5.10 m. This significantly reduces the operating time of a baler.
Swaths can also be moved with the ROTONDE rake. When the swath is always moved to the same side, which will be the case if the swaths have been made while driving in circular passes, it may be beneficial to fold up the tines of the rake wheel that is not moving any swaths. This will ensure that the machine is not driven over swaths that have to be moved (fig. 14). This also reduces wear and tear to the tines and keeps any crop contamination to a minimum.

5.2 Forward speed and PTO speed
In addition to a correctly set-up machine, the forward speed and rotor r.p.m are also essential for obtaining a good and clean raking result.
- Select a forward speed and PTO output (430-470 r.p.m., max. 540 r.p.m.), which will ensure a good, clean windrow.
The best result is obtained if the forward speed is not too high; up until approximately 10 km/h depending on the crop.
Lower the forward speed when the clutch is engaged due to overload.
6 DISMOUNTING FROM THE TRACTOR
The machine can be dismounted from the tractor both in the working and in the transport position. Always place the machine on hard, even ground.
- Place the parking jacks in the bottom position.
- Lower the tractor hydraulics until the parking jacks rest on the ground.
- Switch off the tractor engine.
- Disengage the PTO shaft from the tractor PTO.
- Place the PTO shaft in the hook.
- Depressurise the hydraulic system and disconnect the hydraulic hoses. Place the dust caps on the plugs.
- Remove the control cord for the ram lock from the tractor cab.
- Disconnect the top link from the machine.
- Disconnect the lower arms from the machine.

7 MAINTENANCE
• Correct machine servicing is vital for ensuring reliable
and safe operation.
7.1 Maintenance after operation
- Clean the machine thoroughly.
- Grease the machine with an anti-corrosion agent. Pay special attention to the tines. Smooth tines without any rust stimulate an unhampered crop flow.
- Grease the piston rod with an anti-corrosion agent if the machine will not be used for a long period. Remove the agent before using the machine again. If not, the ram seal may be affected if the anti-corrosion agent hardens.
7.2 Lubrication
All lubrication points of the machine can be greased with a bio­degradable grease (Total Biomultis SEP2), unless stated otherwise.
- PTO shafts must be greased every 8 working hours via the grease nipples on the cross assemblies, protection tubes and slip clutch (fig. 15).
- Grease the profiled tubes of the PTO shaft every 8 working hours (fig. 15).
- Grease the cross assemblies of the double universal joints every 8 working hours (fig. 16).
- Grease the pivot points of the drive every 40 working hours (fig. 17).

- Grease the gears in the rake wheel gearboxes every 8 working hours (fig. 18). Continue turning the rake wheels bit by bit to ensure the grease is distributed effectively all over the gears.
- Grease the hinges of the swivel wheels every 40 working hours (fig. 19).
- Grease the guide slot in the headstock (fig. 20) on a regular basis.
- Grease the telescoping tubes between the swath boards on a regular basis.
- Locking pins, tine hinges and other pivot points must be lubricated regularly to prevent corrosion.

7.3 Periodic maintenance
Periodic maintenance must be carried out:
• at the start of the raking season;
• before prolonged storage of the machine;
• when the machine is used extensively during the season.
- Grease all points of the machine listed in § 7.2 “Lubrication”.
- Grease the spring-loaded locking pins of the yoke lock of the PTO shaft.
- Check if the PTO shaft telescopes smoothly. A damaged PTO shaft may cause excessive wear and tear to the machine and tractor.
- Check the machine for any damage and defects. Repair or replace damaged parts.
- Check the hydraulic system for leaks and damaged parts. Repair or replace damaged parts.
- Check the gearbox for grease leakage (fig. 21). The grease does not need to be replaced. In the event of any grease loss, top up with SHELL ALVANIA WR-0 (max. 0.33 kg). Replace the grease if it is contaminated by water or is no longer compliant due to another cause. When mounting the cover, lubricate the edge of the gearbox and the bolt holes with a fluid gasket (LOCTITE 574).
An incorrect quantity of grease may lead to overheating and cause irreparable damage to the gearbox.
- Check the tyre pressure (fig. 22).
- Check all bolts and nuts for tightness. Tighten loose bolts/nuts to the torques specified below.
